Timelapse

by: Lexi Candelario

And I looked at the itinerary
My eyes widened with surprise
Although the facts made me worry
I give up and sigh

It’s a Saturday and no normal person would want work
So I rest and read and do what I think is alright
But I am supposed to be relaxed, the idea makes me irked
So I run my hands in my hair and try not to fight

My life is planned out from today and 63 years from now
But something timeless leaves me in doubt
I haven’t had time to have fun for a while
And I appear to remain what they call single
But any hope for happiness
Begins to dwindle

Timeless, the idea to be loved
Timeless is the ideal of forever
But the more I look the less I find
And so I am resigned

I turn again and toss in my sleep
I do not need to weep
For you cannot mourn the loss
Of something that never was.

Hi Lexi, a very insightful poem, and this stanza I can relate too.
“Timeless, the idea to be loved
Timeless is the ideal of forever
But the more I look the less I find
And so I am resigned”
