EXPERIENCES

How do our life experiences shape who we are and do they change who that is?  Are we a product of our experiences or do we react to our experiences based on our personality?  Let us take a look at the definition of experiences in our Webster Dictionary.

Experiences-1.  Practical contact with and observation of facts or events.  2.  an event or occurrence that leaves an impression on someone 3.  The knowledge or skill acquired by experience over a period of time, especially that gained in a particular profession by someone at work.

Daily Wisdom Word Definition of Experiences-Those things that happen to us in life that make a lasting impression and change the way we are if profound enough.  2.  events that happen to us in life to teach us wisdom.

Experiences are lesson learners.  Remember when I said, we would be learning from the phrase, “think to learn” and training our brains like a muscle to learn?  Experiences in this case means to absorb events that happen to us in life, bad or good, to teach us something positive depending on the perspective we choose to look at them in.

We have a choice with our experiences.  We can either grow and learn from them, and if they are good, make us better people, and if they are bad, teach us poor habit patterns.  We have to train our brains to think positive and be strong like we would any other muscle in our body.

Some experiences like losing someone that we love are so sad, but in our minds, the experiences we had with that person, if profound, taught us to be different in a better way.  Our life experiences are the same way.  They can teach us to be better people and stronger because of them, or we can absorb them negatively.  Even the good experiences that happen, such as winning the lottery can change us towards the negative, valuing money more than we do the strength within our souls.

We have a choice on how we decide to process our experiences.  We can learn from them, and absorb the mistakes, or we can wallow in them and choose not to grow as individuals.  The choice is really up to us.  Experiences are a very powerful wisdom word because our perception of them, and emotions tied to them, change who we are as individuals for the good or for the bad.

  1. I wish my experiences weren’t based on my own bad decisions – in desperate need of a do over. I have to be grateful for the time I had . . .

    M.A.L.
    It’s better this way
    I know . . .
I coulda got hurt so bad
Easier to dream what could have been
    Than disappoint you
    Embarrass you
    The inevitable day
You wouldn’t want to see me
    You’d find someone else
And I’d have to live thru that
A silent witness to your new life
That I would never be a part of
    Still . . .
    I miss things . . .
    Holding your hand
    Sitting on your lap
Laughing our asses off at the art museum
(followed by security, for Pete’s sake.
    Seriously . . .
    What did they think
We were going to do anyway?)
    See . . .
    I’m trouble
    You couldn’t take me anywhere
    You’d grow tired of me
    It never would have lasted
    At least not for me
And so, it’s better this way
    Yet, I can’t convince myself
    Even though I know
    My mind turns against me
Better to be my own worst enemy
    Than yours
    Still . . .
    Just one last time
    What I wouldn’t give
To rest my hand on your cheek
    Just one last time
