FORTITUDE

How does fortitude play a role in our lives?  Fortitude can lead to motivation.  Let’s take a look at the meaning of fortitude in our Webster Dictionary.

Fortitude-1. strength of mind that allows one to endure pain or adversity with courage.

Daily Wisdom Word Definition of Fortitude-1.  The strength required to overcome problems in life that happen to all of us.

When I think of fortitude, I think of my mother.  She has been through so much pain in life, with her children, battling Cancer, losing her business,  personal tragedy, losing her sister and losing her husband of 50 years.  I think of the strength she has shown through each and every one of these tragedies.

She always comes through to the other side, stronger and brighter than ever.  Tragedy causes her to thrive to a higher, stronger place.  Her growth as an individual is tied to her fortitude and motivation and heart.  Fortitude is coming out on the other side of pain and hurt, such as a break-up and learning from your mistakes or others, or you could not claim fortitude.

Fortitude is being stronger after the wear and tear of life.  I would like to think I had fortitude, and have been through many health adversities during my lifetime.  Fortitude is firmness of mind, and the determination required to get to the other side of the problem or adversity.

Adversity is a part of life.  Fortitude is a gift from God, having the strength to get through that adversity.  I think it has taken much fortitude to continue with “daily wisdom words”, never knowing if people are even reading what I am writing.  I can only pray they do.  There have been many chances to turn the other way and run from continuing this, but I believe life has signs it shows us if we are watching for them.

Thank you so much for reading about fortitude today, and may God bless you with an abundance of it.
