MICROCOSM

What is a microcosm?  How does it affect our world?  Let us first take a look at the Webster Dictionary Meaning of Microcosms.

Microcosms: 1.- A community or place, or situation regarded as encapsulating in miniature the characteristic qualities or features of something much larger . 2.  Humankind regarded as the epitome of the universe.

Daily Wisdom Word Meaning-1,  Situations that are all inclusive representing characteristic qualities or features of something much larger than itself.

Microcosms are problems that exist in a family or family unit that symbolize problems in society as a whole, but feel to the family that, at the time, they are the only ones to have this problem.

For instance, when I was growing up, as a middle child, things were rocky for me.  What happened in my family, alcoholism and many other things was not uncommon.  However, I felt, at the time that we were not just a spiced section of our entire world with the same problems.   I felt as if we were not part of an overall bigger problem.  A microcosm is a situation like this:  A problem that feels all encapsulated but exists as a bigger part of society.

My problems were not inclusive or exclusive.  They were part of an overall problem in the Universe.  Microcosms seem overwhelming at the time you are experiencing them, but they are thought of as not so extreme when you think the rest of society is going through them too.

Microcosms are also thought to center only on Humankind, but in fact, are universal, and can be problems in other forms of life for all we know.  We can’t be certain just what our universe consists of.  Are there life on other planets like ours going through the same feelings microcosms bring about when feeling they are all inclusive?  Microcosms are artificial, simplified ecosystems that are used to simulate and predict the behavior of natural ecosystems under controlled conditions for experimental reasons.

Microcosms can be open or closed to study, and provide an experimental area for ecologists to study natural ecological processes.  Microcosm studies can be very useful to study the effects of disturbance or to determine the ecological role of key species like a group such as humans.  We believe however, on a personal level we are the only ones experiencing these disturbances, when in fact they are part of a much larger.

Thank you so much for reading about Microcosms today.  Have a beautiful and blessed day.

I am the microcosm of the heaven lies,
and the place where angels play.
And God is right at home now,
for He is here to stay.
