Picture Prompt- Silence and Women

Picture Prompt- Silence and Women

There’s much to say about the silence of women in the society filled with sexism especially when they have much to say. It is a big irony I am still trying to wrap my head around. For a gender that is said to be most verbally active I still see no reason why they are silent.

Sexism. That is what I bring to the table. Is one gender truly greater than the other? Let’s talk about it on Daily Wisdom Words Picture Prompt. My name is Abuh Monday Eneojo. I will be your host and for my guest who I bestow upon a co-hosting bandana, a humble man filled with romance, Robert fish.

    Looking through
    Years of abuse
    Patterns repeat

    Which lay heavy
    On the soul

This poem is called… Don’t You Dare

    Don’t you dare
    Diminish my pain
    Or shoo me away
    For bringing it up again.

    Don’t you dare
    Belittle and ridicule
    Mimicking words
    So hateful and cruel.

    Don’t you dare
    Silence me in shame
    Always accusing
    I was to blame.

    Don’t you dare
    Quiet my voice
    Telling my truth
    It is my choice.

    Don’t you dare
    Claim I am weak
    Wanting justice
    Is the closure I seek.

    Don’t you dare
    Think I’m not strong
    Because deep inside
    I’ve been survivor all along.
