CREDIBILITY ” DO YOU FIND YOURSELF JUDGING OTHERS?”

OUR DAILY WISDOM WORD TODAY IS CREDIBILITY.  CREDIBILITY IN OTHERS IS ALWAYS BEING TESTED.  WE ARE NOT USUALLY CONSCIOUS OF IT, BUT OUR MIND IS ASSESSING BELIEVABILITY, BODY LANGUAGE, EYE  CONTACT MADE. AND MUCH MORE IS ALWAYS BEING SIZED UP WHEN WE ARE DETERMINING CREDIBILITY.  JUST AS OTHERS ARE DECIDING HOW MUCH CREDIBILITY A PERSON THEY ARE INTERACTING WITH HAS WHEN WE INITIALLY INTERACT WE ARE DOING THE SAME. 

THE AMOUNT OF CREDIBILITY AND AUTHENTICITY WE HAVE IN OTHERS IS DETERMINED EITHER OVER TIME EVEN WHEN MEETING BRIEFLY FROM BOTH PARTIES..  IT DOES NOT MATTER IF WE ARE INTERACTING ONLY ONCE, OR GETTING TO KNOW SOMEONE OVER TIME, WE ARE DETERMINING TRUST AND INTEGRITY ISSUES BY MEASURING OTHERS CREDIBILITY.   THINK ABOUT HOW WE FEEL WHEN WE MEET SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT LOOK US DIRECTLY IN THE EYE.  WE ARE LOOKING AT THEIR SINCERITY THROUGH NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION THEY SHOW  WITH VERBAL AND NONVERBAL CUES, HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT US.  THE MORE ANALYTICAL OR SKEPTICAL WE ARE, THE MORE WE ARE ASCERTAINING CREDIBILITY. 

THERE IS ALSO SKEPTICISM THAT PLAYS A ROLE IN DETERMINING ONE’S CREDIBILITY FROM OTHERS. THE MORE SKEPTICAL WE ARE, THE MORE WE ARE ANALYZING ONE’S CREDIBILITY.  IN ORDER TO DETERMINE OVERALL TRUST FACTORS  WE USE ONE’S CREDIBILITY TO DETERMINE IF WE WILL INTERACT FURTHER WITH THEM WHETHER WE ARE DECIDING TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM OR AS WE GET  TO KNOW THEM BETTER. WHEN WE ARE GETTING TO KNOW SOMEONE ROMANTICALLY, WE ALSO ARE DECIDING IF WE TRUST THEM AND WANT TO GET TO KNOW THEM BETTER.  LET US TAKE A LOOK AT THE WEBSTER MEANING AND DAILY WISDOM WORD DEFINITION.  WEBSTER MEANING, CREDIBILITY-THE QUALITY OF BEING TRUSTED AND BELIEVED.

DAILY WISDOM WORD MEANING-A FEELING WE MAY OR NOT BE AWARE OF OUR ASSESSMENT OF TRUST. DETERMINED BY CREDIBILITY. 

HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED THAT SOMEONE WHO IS DISHONEST GIVES THEMSELVES AWAY OVER TIME?  THIS HAPPENS OFTEN BECAUSE WHAT THEY SAY IN ONE CONVERSATION IS OFTEN CONTRADICTED BY A LATER ONE.  PEOPLE DO GIVE THEMSELVES AWAY EVENTUALLY IF THEY ARE NOT AUTHENTIC.  FOR EXAMPLE, WE CATCH THEM IN A TINY LIE OR THEY SHOW BEHAVIOR WHICH DOESN’T MATCH WHAT THEY SAY.  MOST OF US JUDGE ANOTHER’S CREDIBILITY BY NONVERBAL CUES MORE THAN WORDS.  IF THESE VERBAL AND NON-VERBAL CUES DO NOT MATCH OVER A GIVEN PERIOD, THE TRUST WE’D LIKE TO FEEL IS NOT PRESENT. 

HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED OTHERS WHO ARE NOT AUTHENTIC GIVE THEMSELVES AWAY OVER TIME?  THIS IS BECAUSE PART OF THEIR PERSONA IS FALSE AND THIS DETERMINES THEIR TRUE INTENTIONS.  SOME OF US FEEL BROKEN AND STOP TRUSTING OURSELVES WHEN WE INCORRECTLY EVALUATE HONESTY AND INTEGRITY.  HOWEVER, IT HAPPENS TO ALL OF US  WHEN ASSESSING OTHERS.  SOMETIMES WE GET PLEASANTLY SURPRISED, BUT MOST OFTEN WE ARE CREATURES OF HABIT THEMSELVES AND GIVE QUESTIONABLE INTENTIONS AND LACK OF SINCERITY AWAY OVER TIME.  THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF CREDIBILITY AND HOW IT IS RELATED TO OUR TRUST IN ANOTHER.   HAVE A BEAUTIFUL AND PLEASANT DAY.  SAMANTHA

EXPRESSIONS

What can we tell about our expressions and others as well?  It turns out, we can tell more by someone’s expressions than what they say.  Before going any further, let us take a look at the meaning of expressions in our Webster Dictionary.

Expressions-1.  The process of making known one’s thoughts or feelings . 2.  The conveying of a feeling in the face or voice, in a work of art, or in the performance of a piece of music.

Expressions answer much of the communication process, and is a valuable part of nonverbal communication.  Expressions use our five senses, and senses send clear messages to ourselves and others.  Nonverbal communication, which expressions are a huge part of is responsible for over HALF of our messages we receive from others and convey to them.

“Expressions leave impressions”.  This is a small quote I wrote which I think carries a lot of weight.  Think of our five senses.  If we smell something bad, the first response we hand down to other and ourselves is wrinkling our nose and squinting our eyes or our eyes water..  These are all expressions of the meaning we are conveying to others about something we feel or think.

If we see something interesting or otherwise, we show we are interested or disinterested with our expressions.  We must remember again, expressions leave impressions.  Think about some of the most important messages we get in our life.  For example, when we have been in a love relationship and someone breaks up with us.  We can tell through their expressions, what they are going to say, before they say it.

When we go home, and reflect on the breakup, the saddest part of what their message conveyed to us, (the breakup) was reflected through another’s expression.  Expressions tell us much, but what about those individuals who have the ability to carry a “poker face” with them wherever they go, especially to play cards.  Their expressions don’t show up nearly as often as the rest of us.  They, however still are communicating nonverbally.  They may wring their hands together, deliberately refuse to make eye contact, because this is the very way we can tell what individuals mean.
