The Coming Of Winter

The Coming Of Winter

by: Guildford Windley

The coming of Winter
Bend to the wind as it does blow
Wet is the rain that does fall
Feel the chill of the coldness as the temperature fall
The coming of winter
The snow upon the ground replacing the leaves of golden brown
Winter is upon us once more
In the darkness of cold nights
Christmas lights decorate the drabness of neighborhoods far and wide
There is the brightness of stars and the moon reflecting off the whiteness that covers the land where snow does fall
Joy is in the air for those who are well-fed
Misery lies ahead, for those without
In a day of plenty, those who have are few
Those that want are many
Winds blow in a cold dark winter
For some, it’s a time of joy and merriment
Yet for so many, it’s a time of despair and sadness
what religion does one describe?
Pious words that are said
Don’t put food upon the table
As people pray- words said don’t matter
When they turn their backs on the suffering of the human family.
