On The Road That I’ll Take

On The Road That I’ll Take
_______________________________
On the road, bound to nowhere special
Just a walk over the next hill, or round that there bend
In the day each step I’ll take to a place of a new adventure, a view that always changes on the road that I’ll take
At night along the way, I’ll find a spot where I can rest
A backpack is soft to lay my head as I sleep beside the road that I’ll take
In the distance, I can see mountains of majesty, crown with white, of fallen snow
The road I’ll choose will lead me to those mountain passes
For where I’ll go is a journey of the ages
On the road, I’ll move past river, lakes, and streams
On a trek of my dreams, the road I’ll take will lead me to places; those places of my dreams that I want to see, for life is fleeing from my body and times wasting
The road I’ll take a vagabond I’ll be. Living off the land along the road, the road I’ll take
With the sky above me as my roof, the ground below me will be my floor
It won’t bother me the Sun, rain, wind, and snow for they’ll be my companions on the road, the road that I’ll take
I’ll fear not the critters that I’ll meet for I’ll greet each with a smile
I’ll look to see so many trees claiming to the sky in the forest very deep and dark, on the road that I’ll take
Yes, oh yes, I can see my journey will start soon
As I lie here in my hospital room, for I look upon the wall where there resides a scenic picture of a country mountainside
At the lower end of the artist, paint is where my road begins
Soon now my eyes will close, in the sweet dream, I’ll take to the road once again!

    • Hi, Shirley, I hope all is well, I saw the youtube, video thanks again for all the work you did on that. glad you like the poem. I came up with it yesterday afternoon I was waiting to see a doctor and there was a painting on the wall of the countryside with trees and two roads. Well, I am off to see another doctor today, seen like the only time I leave home is to see a doctor. I hope you and your family have a great night.
