GRANDMA’S HAND BY BILL WITHERS

Tears nearly dropped when I saw an old man in church today. He wanted to give his offering to the Lord but he couldn’t stand up because of his age.

At that point, my heart revolved around what it would have been thirty or forty years ago when his muscles still had all the strength to enable his every move. It was then i decided to talk about age today.

Well, it is no news that old age comes with certain things like wrinkles, hearing loss, weak muscles, etc. These things, when spoken of, make many scare and fret at the thought of growing old to an age where there decline in action is paramount.

Old age is a beautiful thing to behold and I’d like us to talk about it on Daily Wisdom Words Music Prompt today.

  1. Grandma’s Hands
    (Bill Withers Inspired)
    Skin like
    Creased paper,
    Folded and flattened
    Back out,
    Gripped tight
    My small,
    Unworn hand.
    I wondered how
    Your hands got
    So coarse.
    And how they
    Could make me
    Feel so safe.
