    Annie discarded hope
    & her broken dreams
    as she shattered the window
    & laid him in the shards.
    Her pain was much greater,
    aged bruises & sickened heart,
    though his blood was final.
    She told herself, believing,
    that she didn’t know him,
    before calling for help.
