What does fortune mean to you?  Let us first take a look at fortune in our Webster Dictionary. Fortune-1.  chance or luck as an eternal, arbitrary force affecting human affairs.  2.  luck, especially good luck  3.  the success or failure of a person over a period of time or in the course of a particular activity.  4.  A large amount of money or assets. Fortune can mean being rich and having a lot of money.  That is not the type of fortune I want to talk about today.  There is nothing wrong with money by the way and having it.  I have found though, people place way too much weight on it as an asset in their lives instead of focusing on their internal assets. What are internal assets?  They are the blessings in our lives that make up what fortune really is to me.  They are those people you love who mean the most to you.  Your family, would be a huge part of your fortune in my book.  Your friends would be another huge fortune in your life.  Fortune can also mean the good luck of being a happy person.  This is also internal.  Happiness and good fortune go hand in hand.  In order to have good fortune in my book, you must fill yourself up internally, not externally which is what we tend to do when we have money. Good fortune is the beauty in life of living it.  Not everyone lives life to the fullest.  Some are challenged with health issues, which is another type of good or bad fortune. If you are a healthy person, consider yourself to be fortunate.  Good fortune comes in small packages and can simply be an attitude of gratitude.  People with an attitude of gratitude definitely people of good fortune. Now, with this time of year, meaning Christmas and the holidays, people are out spending thousands of dollars on Christmas gifts and in some cases this is money they don’t have and will spend the rest of the year paying off the credit card debt.  This is why, we as the recipients of those gifts, need to remember what good fortune and good will really mean.
