Our daily wisdom word today is symbols. Symbols are unique and always used to mark or apply meaning to something hard to explain. Here are just a few examples of what symbols can stand for.
Symbols stand for stocks, bonds, when the stocks name is shortened, initials are sometimes their name, symbols when texting such as emojis and meanings for emotions we experience. Symbols stand for roman numerals, shapes are demonstrated by symbols that we interpret their meaning for, crosswalks, traffic lights, and so much more.
Before going any further, let us take a look at the meaning of a symbol in our Webster Dictionary, and the daily wisdom words definition.
Webster definition for symbols-1. a mark or character used as a conventional representation of an object, function or process, e.g. the letter or letters standing for a chemical element or a character in musical notation. 2. a thing that represents or stands for something else, especially a material object representing something abstract.
Daily Wisdom Word Meaning of Symbols-signs we interpret created by our peers holding significant meaning in emotions, symbols for sign language and other crucial universal knowledge a symbol stands for so we may all read and understand the particular sign we use to stand for a specific meaning understood by more than a few, most of us in fact.
It seems like the further along we take education and begin using music symbols, or anything, the more complicated the symbols can be as we get to a higher comprehension level. This should give us one clear universal definition of any symbol which is that whatever it is, whether it be the marks used to symbolize a crosswalk, should be understood by all of us, no matter where we are in the world, but this is not always the case.
Has it ever occurred to you that different symbols are potentially used for different languages around the world just as different language is spoken? Some symbols can be potentially misunderstood differently in one country verses another although we may comprehend that symbol to mean the same in both countries?
Because of this, some mistakes I’ve made in the past have been because I have assumed the meaning of symbols to be universal. It is important we are clear about the big role they play in our life no matter what part of the world we live in or visit, just as it is important to brush up on the meaning of basic symbols to make sure they concur with what you interpret them to mean in your part of the world. Their meaning is often universal but this is not a rule, as there are exceptions to this. Some symbols are only used in one country for a specific contribution or meaning.
If the symbol of t-mobile stock is different for the New York Stock Exchange than other areas of the world, we need to have some kind of knowledge about these differences to be able to do our jobs for world-wide companies. Another confusing thing about symbols is often demonstrated in what type of voltage one shape of plug end can be for a blowdryer or curling iron verses another country verses which can also be complicated if you aren’t aware of this before hand. One thing holds true about symbols that may always be so. Use them and what they mean cautiously!
Use symbols carefully unless they are very basic symbols to convey meaning in a new country until you do brush up on the new language spoken in this new country and you know what or if there are some symbols there are different than where you are from.
