Addiction
As I look out on the world
From a place where I don’t exist
I see things in new ways
Lost am I here in a world of my own making
I could not cope with where I was
I need a new beginning
So I check into this place
All it took was a needle full of promise
No more do I need to face the ugliness of life
In this hotel of my mind
As I lay here on this lonely beach
Where the pacific meets the golden state
The juice that flows from the needlepoint
Takes me to that heavenly state
In this place call California
My mind is gone; I’ve checked into the hotel California
But no matter what I do
I can’t escape my fate
Here in the hotel California
It is such a lovely place
But there’s a price
It holds you down like a vice
You can try to find your way out
But the truth does not matter
For here there’s no black or white, it’s just multicolor
No up or down, you’re in a maze loss of all your senses
When you come back to your mind the craving takes hold
No matter what you try to do
In the end the needle will bring you back again
Down the hole you will go
You’re lost in a hopeless cause
The only way to be free
From the hotel California
Is to cut the ties of this earthly life
