AMBIVALENCE

What is ambivalence and how does it play a role in our lives?  Let us first take a look at its meaning in our Webster Dictionary. Ambivalence-1  the state of having mixed feelings or contradictory ideas about something or someone Daily Wisdom Word Definition of ambivalence-Thinking two opposing ideas about an individual, one side good and the other side, bad Ambivalence is often seen after you’ve gotten to know those people who your never sure you really like.   You see the positive qualities in these individuals, but they are the ones you continue to have nagging doubts about.  When we feel ambivalence, because it is contradictory, it can be confusing. Part of us likes them and part of us doesn’t.  I have always believed two of the strongest assets we have are our intuition and our instincts, and if your forced to make up your mind about an individual, go with those feelings, because they will continue to nag you until you do. I have certainly met someone I have felt ambivalence about, and because they belonged to my husbands work associates at the time, I was forced out of courtesy to invite them along whenever I would have a social event planned for his company.  I always found myself ill at ease with this individual, and eventually did my best to steer clear of them as much as possible. Ambivalence is certainly confusing and it isn’t always about someone.  It can also be about something such as a controversial idea or opinion.  You may see two opposing ideas about these two sides of your opinion and never decide if you truly like the controversy swirling around inside of you because of this fact. Ambivalence is also something we think about always looking for a resolve, and often we don’t find one.  This can really drive us crazy as we toss it around our minds like spaghetti.
