LYRICS

We didn’t start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world’s been turning
We didn’t start the fire
But when we are gone
Will it still burn on, and on, and on, and on
We didn’t start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world’s been turning
We didn’t start the fire
No we didn’t light it
But we tried to fight it
We didn’t start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world’s been turning
We didn’t start the fire
No we didn’t light it
But we tried to fight it..

  1. We can end the fire deep within us. It started a long while ago. No one started the fire, we brought it on as a choice for us to put it out. Why are we not ending the fire, only because we have got used to the fire. Turn on the water from your mind, allow your feelings to guide the flow of water to the fire. End it now…

  2. Over escarpments
    a prayer of wonderment
    inestimable hearts
    proclaim a
    burning flame
    minds own gethsemane
    ashen faces
    flushed with graces
    eyes serenely ablaze
    with emendation
    to change the
    remnants of love
    that still remains
    in the sobriety of pain.

  3. LOOK AT HOW THEY TREAT ME
    Look how they treat me
    I’m doing time
    Look how they fine dine
The rich that murder the poor
    Lived on the streets
Had a job, worked my fingers to the bone
    No one cares
You live below the poverty line
    Politicians started the fire
    Now things are dire

  4. DOWN IN NIGERIA
    Down in Nigeria
    The rich think we’re inferior
    Political corruption
    Police shoot their own people
    Whipping and flogging
    In Nigeria the hysteria
    The bloodshed
Run or you’ll end up dead
    Politicians vanity
    They don’t care about humanity
    This is insanity
    Listen to the gunfire

  5. I’m gonna say it once
    But I know you will
    Hear it once said twice.

    Different people!
    Different perspective!

    Who damned who?
    Who cursed who?

    Who shall we blame?
Is the blamer to be blamed?

    We say it’s them
    Who made them them?

    I’m gonna say it once
    But I know you will
    Hear it once said twice.
