Oh A Lazy Sunday Afternoon

by: Guildford Windley

Oh A Lazy Sunday Afternoon
______________________________________
On a lazy Sunday afternoon
Bright sun in an October sky
Oh it’s hot; the air is still, no breeze at all
On this lazy Sunday afternoon
Both of my sweet dogs are passed out on the cool tile floor; they just have no ambition at all
My family out and about in the warm sun
Me no way, I need the shade
On this lazy Sunday afternoon
Yes life is sweet if you love the heat
But it is hell for me, I like the fog and the cool day air
But then again I hate the snow, now that’s just too damn cold
So here I sit with the fan a blowing
My body overheating, more water I need to be drinking. Oh this heat is killing
Eight –One degree feels like ninety
On this lazy Sunday afternoon
TV blaring, October footballs games are playing: Mr. Rodgers is throwing lots of footballs in the air, damn a 49er he could have been
Oh well, funny how thing work out the way they do
Life goes on anyway
On a Sunday afternoon
Ah but time is not standing still, twilight getting near
Once the sun sets into an orange hue spread across the ocean bluish grey
On the horizon, the sun seems to melt away
As the twilight covers the world in a bluish shade
The periwinkle takes command of the sky above
As the lazy Sun turns to dark, soon the moon is on the rise, with stars in the sky
In the cool night air
My love is by my side as the evening grows late—time to go to bed before the start of another day
Won’t be long until the Monday morning blues come this way
Gee, I already miss that lazy Sunday afternoon

Hi, I like your dog, Guildford. Does he have a brother. Do you have another that you can sell me. Dogs are the spice of life. Dogs are really, really nice. Take care.
