SPIRIT

What is Christmas Spirit?  Christmas spirit is something we can almost taste…It is in the air we breathe at Christmas Time. Because it is Christmas time, I am going to write in a little different format today to explain the meaning of “spirit”.  The spirit of Christmas is familiar to most of us.  Around this time of year, people remember those people from their past, and the love and memories they’ve shared with others. Christmas brings out spirit in our souls.  I truly believe people are kinder at Christmas time, and they seem to be more thoughtful for some reason.  It is, after all, Jesus Christ’s birthday, and this day to me, is the most important day of the year.  Something magical happens around Christmas time, and it takes spirit to make that happen. Christmas is time when you see an increase in donations and charities.  You go into the church, if your me, and feel such a lovely feeling when each person lights the other person’s candle towards the end of the service. and the lights are dimmed.  Then all of the church goers raise their candles as high as they can, and it is the most lovely sight I see all year long.   You can feel the spirit in that church.  It is so strong you can almost smell or taste it. The Pastor although he gives two other services that day, manages to make his sermon lively, and yes, full of spirit and good cheer. Christmas time is the time when family comes together and shares in the spirit of goodwill.  There is not a second that goes by that isn’t treasured by each family member, knowing they will not see this person again until the following year.  Everyone shares in helping others with the cooking and baking and time spent together is truly treasured.  That is what spirit is.  Have the most beautiful holidays with you and your family.
