ACQUIESCENCE

What is the definition of acquiescence?  Let us take a look at the meaning of acquiescence in our Webster Dictionary. Acquiescence-1.  The reluctant acceptance of something without protest. Daily Wisdom Word meaning of Acquiescence-1.  accepting something from someone you really feel uncomfortable about receiving. Acquiescence is a difficult position to be in.  I know how it feels.  Years ago, I had to turn to my brother for help and financially, he would give me the money I needed to pay my bills.  However, I was reluctant to take it as I knew in the future he might hold it over my head, but I took the money without protest. Acquiescence is also a law term but we will not be discussing that meaning today.  I have felt acquiescence about other things in my life.  I could not afford to pay for college on my own and I knew my parents weren’t in the position to help, so when my mother turned around and offered to give me the money for school, I felt extreme acquiescence about accepting it. Acquiescence sometimes happens in highly charged, emotional situations.  For example, many brides end up prematurely engaged, because they were not ready for the proposal to begin with.  You see acquiescence in movies with these proposals, and the bride starts off ignoring the question.  Then, before she can stop it, he is down on one knee asking her to marry him.  She quickly looks around to be rescued, and there is not anyone there to stop what is next.  He is on his knee, and he proposes. She acquiesces to the proposal, knowing she has reservations about the upcoming marriage and reluctantly accepts the ring.  This is the perfect description for acquiescence .
