amends

Why do we owe ourselves and others amends?  Let us first take a look at the meaning of amends in our Webster Dictionary. Amends-1.  compensate or make up for a wrongdoing.  2,  Something done or given by a person to make up for a  loss or injury.. Daily Wisdom Word Definition of Amends-1.  A way to make up for something done to hurt either ourselves or another person. I know most of us know what it means to make amends to others, but I would first like to talk about making amends to ourselves. Some of us, in fact, most of us, do bargaining.  We will pray to God about something we have done wrong, and ask him to fix it, and we make some kind of deal with him.  “Dear God, If you fix this, I will be perfect for a year and not make mistakes.  Some of us are self-destructive.  I watch a friend of mine hurt others with her actions over and over again. She is an alcoholic, and when she is sober, is such an amazing person.  However, when she drinks, she loses every time no matter how many amends she makes.  My point about amends, is we make them to ourselves.  She will promise the world to God if he can just forgive her for these mistakes and even though logically, we wonder why a person would make mistakes over and over again, we are capable of, and do the same things.  There comes a point where we have to come to an inner peace with ourselves, but amends for ourselves means treating ourselves right in the first place, because life is a balancing act, and there are always consequences to her actions. We also make amends to others and with others, some form of amends for wrongdoing to another.  This can come in the form of an apology or it can come in the form of compensation, but it is necessary in the balancing act of life.  When we harm another, whether unintentionally or intentionally, we do in the very least need to be capable of an apology. Amends keep the balancing act of life going.  It is very important to not only be able to make peace with yourself, but others. Thank you so much for reading about amends.  Amends can make us better if we are willing to be humble enough to make them when necessary. Samantha Leboeuf/DWW

Next day I hear it all day long
Sorry he repeats as if a song
Beers w/whiskey a shot or two
Slurred words now bottle is though
Walk away I leave him be
W/abusive words he follows me
Saying things if sober he wouldn’t dare
Doesn’t see me it’s if I’m not there
Words hit their mark they never leave
Sorry he repeats I can not beileve
Making amends he tries to do
Enough of his words I am now through
