VULNERABILITY

"
What does it mean to be vulnerable?  What does vulnerability mean in our Webster Dictionary? Vulnerability-1.  susceptible to physical or emotional attack or harm . 2.  in need of special care, support, or protection because of age, disability, or risk of abuse or neglect . 3.  liable to higher penalties, either by convention or through having won one game toward a rubber Daily Wisdom Word Meaning-1.  A state of heightened fear due to weakness, whether it be to physical reasons, emotional reasons, or psychological reasons. Vulnerability is difficult because it puts you as the vulnerable one, in a state of weakness if your around the perfect person who is not sensitive to your needs.   People often feel more vulnerable, when they are emotionally vested deeper in a relationship than the other party, particularly the type of relationship involving romance and love. Vulnerability can occur between couples over a long period of time, when one partner is abusive.  Through a process, generally used by narcissists called grooming, the other party is made to feel vulnerable through years of intimidation, being spoken down to, and having their personal traits attacked.  Vulnerability also occurs when one party is weaker than the other by some disadvantage, such as physically, emotionally, or psychologically and they are with the right kind of person to take advantage of this fact. I think for myself, the most vulnerable I have felt was being in love with one particular individual I recall from my past very well.   I had just been diagnosed with CRPS (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome and he was my pain management doctor.  This made it difficult because I saw him as his patient for months, revealing my most intimate thoughts before the relationship turned romantic.  One day, while in the office, he slipped me his phone number, personal obviously, and we started seeing one another. Over a period of time, (three years), we continued to see each other, but I always felt vulnerable around him, partly because he was so physically active and I could not be, but also because he took advantage of this fact.  It takes two, I believe to create the feelings of vulnerability with one person, and he tended to play on my weaknesses, very well.  He would use the information I had given him as his patient in the initial days of the relationship against me in order, I believe to make me feel vulnerable. He always held the edge in the relationship, as I did not know nearly as much as what I did about him as he did me, placing me at a huge disadvantage when we had a disagreement or otherwise. People also feel vulnerable when they are in the care of someone else if that person can not be trusted to abuse this fact.   Sometimes, people without meaning to, began to resent taking care of the other individual if it is a personal relationship and begin to insult them indirectly or otherwise.  Vulnerability in never a fun stage to feel in with another person you are involved with personally or even otherwise, although on a professional basis, money changes hands between the individuals leveling the playing field.  Vulnerability is never a fun feeling to have with anyone regardless, as you always feel susceptible to the other individual in some way. Imagine how the elderly feel who have someone taking care of them full time.  When it becomes time to place them in extended care, because you as the caretaker, can’t handle the situation anymore, they are never the full individual emotionally that they were before they were so vulnerable. Thank you so much for reading about vulnerability today with me.  Think today who you feel the most vulnerable with in your life, and why, and ask yourself why.  You will find it generally stems from some kind of imbalance of power between you and the other individual. Have a beautiful and blessed day.  Thank you so much for reading. Samantha LeBoeuf

IMPOVRISHMENT

"
What is impoverishment and how does it affect our society? Let us first take a look at the daily wisdom word meaning of impoverishment in our Webster Dictionary-1.  the process of becoming poor.  loss of wealth. Daily Wisdom Word Meaning-1.  The act of being poor and the high statistics of people that suffer from not having enough money to live on for themselves and their families. Impoverishment affects high numbers of individuals across the world and most people would be surprised just how many.  Nearly 1/2 of the world, lives on less than 2.50 cents per day US money.  That is horrific if you think about it.  More than 1/2 of the worlds population live in impoverishment and this affects their medical care, their ability to eat vitamin rich foods, ability for cleanliness (842,000 people per year), ability for electricity, (1/4 of the world lives without it.) According to UNICEF,  22,000 children die each day due to poverty.  More than 750 million individuals deal with a lack of clean water.  850 million people worldwide do not have enough food to eat. Stats in 2011 showed 165 million children world wide under the age of five years old, were stunted in their development due to chronic malnutrition,  As if 2013, 21.8 million children had not received the three recommended doses of vaccine against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis. More facts yet tell us that 80 percent of the world lives on less than $10.00 per day.  OXFAM estimates it would take $60 billion annually to end extreme global poverty-that is less than 1/4 the income of the top 100 richest billionaires.  Hunger, by the way, in the number one cause of death in the world, killing more than HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined. These facts are astounding and if they were not so enlightening and important, I would not have put them in this article.  I don’t know what its like to feel hungry and not eat, but I do know what its like to grow up in a household that is poor.  My family definitely hurt for more money, but none of the above statistics affected us. There is a difference between being poor and being impoverished.  Medical care took much of our money growing up in a household of four children and one income winner, we put it above all else, and there were times when we had to work out payment plans to pay for that medical care, but at least we had it.  We had to cut corners with food, eating hamburgers a lot along with hotdogs, macaroni and cheese, and less expensive foods.  Sadly, the most expensive food is often the healthiest.  Fruits and fresh vegetables are at the top of the list as far as expense goes. The saddest fact of all, is it would just take $20 per month to wipe out world hunger from those of us who can afford it.  Yet, many people, including myself don’t consistently donate to World Health Organizations, for fear the money will not go where is supposed to.  We can fix this with $20 per month from those of us that can afford it.  Can you imagine having that much effect on world hunger with just $20 dollars a day. One last fact.  The poorest country in the world surprisingly is Asia.  The countries within it exceed all of the above facts by 50%.  That is so sad. I ask you to think about today’s daily wisdom word, and ask yourself what you can do about it.  Until I did the research for this post, I have avoided taking part in the solution and instead stayed a part of the problem, because when I really, quietly sit down and ask myself, there is 20$ a month I could manage to set aside to help.  What about the top billionaires and what they could do?  There is a lot we all can do to put a stop to impoverishment. Thank you so much for reading daily wisdom words today, and I appreciate your reading. Have a beautiful and blessed day. Samantha LeBoeuf    ANNOUNCEMENTS AUGUST 14TH, 2018

HUMOR

What is the definition of humor, and how is it different from yesterday’s daily wisdom word, Satire?  Satire is using humor at the expense of someone else, in the process, ridiculing them.  On the other hand, humor is quite positive and happy and necessary to survive life. Let us take a look at the Webster definition of humor-1.  The quality of being amusing or comic, especially as expressed in literature or speech.  2.  the ability to express humor and make other people laugh.  3.  a mood, or sate of mind.  an inclination or whim. Daily Wisdom Word Meaning-1.  Having the ability to make others laugh through comical desires and the desire to make them laugh. Humor is invaluable.   Let’s face it.  Our world can be a serious place to live in these days with war and famish and money problems.  Humor allows us to cope with these things.  Humor can take a frown, and turn it upside down, as my father used to say.  Humor is safe.  It makes people laugh without the expense of another’s feelings.  You don’t use ridicule with humor.  It is simply used to make others laugh. Humor is a sense.  Humor is a sense because some people have a good sense of humor and others don’t.  Sometimes its the combination of two personalities that create humor.  Have you ever been around someone that you laugh with, and not at?  This is the combination of two personalities working together to produce this humor. My best friend and I have the kind of humor that takes both of us to create the laughter.  You may be funny to most people, but you not be funny to all people, so humor requires a good sense of judgement. Humor can take the most terrible situations and make them better.  I have had a really depressing day, and then had someone pop off with a good sense of humor with something funny, and turn my whole day around.  One day in particular comes to mind. My niece and son were playing in the basement when they were young children still in diapers.  They took off their diapers and proceeded to take what was in them and smear it on the basement walls.  Needless to say, when I went down to check on them, I was furious;  that is until I looked at their little innocent faces and saw that they were just having fun.  Both of them stood there minus diapers, and I just started laughing.  As mad as I was, the humor took the sting out of the situation.  That is how powerful humor can be. There are different types of humor.  There is humor with a sense of irony and humor with jokes that people tell that are actually funny because of the way they tell the jokes themselves. Humor can take a dreary day and make you smile.  Try this next time your having a bad day.  Call a funny person, tell them about your problems and let them make you laugh.  You will be surprised at what great therapy this is for you and your problems. Thank you for reading about humor with me today, and have a blessed and beautiful day. Samantha LeBeouf   ANNOUNCEMENTS

SATIRE

What does Satire mean and how does it play a role in our lives? Satire means, according to the Webster Dictionary, this:  Satire-1.  the use of humor, irony, exaggeration or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.  2.  a play, film or other work that uses satire.  3.  A genre of literature characterized by the use of satire. A good example of satire is Saturday Night Live.  Saturday Night Live uses Satire when they are emulating Donald Trump and his quirky personality traits.  They exaggerate these traits making them seem far more apparent than they really are.  This is an example of Satire!  Satire is used in other Saturday Night Live Skits too, just watch the show if you haven’t already. Be careful with the use of Satire around sensitive people like myself who get their feelings hurt easily.  I know my brother is a classic example of someone who uses satire as a form of humor with everyone.  For some reason, every time he uses it with me it hurts my feelings.  He starts off ridiculing personality traits I have, and uses this for his humor at the expense of my feelings.  Satire, can hurt people’s feelings depending on how sensitive they are.  I find it best to leave Satire on the campaign trail and even then there is a fine line that should be drawn between that and good old fashioned humor. What is the difference between Satire and humor?  Humor does not take personal qualities of another and use them to ridicule another.  Satire uses personal qualities of another in front of them, and does use those qualities at the center of their humor such as the above example of my brother. Either way,  it is always prudent to keep in mind that other people’s feelings are always at expense with satire.  Politics is one thing.  We kind of expect a little Satire here and there with Politics, using examples of other politicians personality and traits.  We have seen politics get down and dirty during political races, especially candidates seeking Presidency of the United States.  There are many examples of past elections that I can use, the worst being the campaign of Trump and Hilary Clinton.  Both candidates got downright ugly when pointing out weaknesses of the other using Satire, and it took a long time for some of Trumps jokes to go away even after he won the election. Everyone might remember his saying, “lock her up.  lock her up” referring to Hilary Clinton.  That saying is still in effect.  I saw it used on a news report just recently at one of Trumps rallies.  I believe Trump feels its always important to use Satire but have noticed he is very sensitive to it himself when others use it with him.  Be careful when using Satire.  Sometimes, a simple, old fashioned sense of humor is a wiser choice.  Thank you for reading about Daily Wisdom Words today.  Have a beautiful and pleasant day.  Samantha Leboeuf                                                                            Announcements

JOY 8/6/18

What does joy mean and what role does it play in our lives?  Joy is a emotion that cannot quite be cloned.   Let us take a look at the meaning of joy in the Webster Dictionary–A feeling of great pleasure and happiness.  2.  Rejoice Daily Wisdom Word Meaning:  1.  A feeling of exceptional happiness and joy elevated to a point of happiness.  2.  a deep internal feeling that creates happiness within oneself. All feelings that are related to happiness are related to joy.  Joy is a feeling of elation.  Joy is the extreme feeling of happiness.  Joy is also the feeling of elation that comes along with life. The best example I can give of joy, is the feeling I had when my first child was born.  There was never such a feeling of love, elation, excitement and elevation.  The 3 E’s.  Elation, excitement and elevation best describe joy.  Joy is an emotion above others.  Joy is an emotion that shows all that you have truly reached contentment.  Joy is a rare feeling for most people.  They do not experience such an exalted feeling and happiness such as watching a grand child be delivered. Joy is a rare emotion.  Joy is rare because it takes all the other emotions, IE., happiness, elation, and contentment to experience joy.  Joy is a rare emotion also because it takes a combination of emotions to feel it.  Joy is also rare from the standpoint that it takes a set of circumstances that are rare to it around.  Joy Is rare from the standpoint that it is not a common emotion.  It is much deeper than happiness. The happiness one feels, happens often.  There is not the presence of the three E’s-Emotion, elation an elevation of mood.  Happiness is common.  Joy is not.  Joy is felt, around weddings, births, and other situations that are rare in occurrence. Thank you so much for reading about joy today.  Joy is a rare emotion for most, and an unexperienced emotion in some.  True joy comes from the heart.  True joy is something that is inspired by aa higher power in my opinion, and shown only when a rare occasion happens. INFATUATION

What is infatuation and what is the difference between infatuation and love? Let us first take a  look at the meaning of infatuation in our Webster Dictionary-Infatuation: 1.  An intense but short-lived passion for someone or something Daily Wisdom Word Meaning-Infatuation:  1.  A feeling generally felt when someone is in love with someone.  Infatuations tend to last temporarily, and usually either end, or turn into a deeper, more meaningful love. When was the last time you were infatuated?  It is such an intense feeling and a feeling that leaves you on an emotional high.  The best way to explain infatuation is to give you examples of it through my own experiences. All my life I have been plagued with infatuation.  I would meet someone, develop an instant crush on them before I even knew who they were on the inside, and set my sights on them.  Once we were dating, rarely did the infatuation end quickly. Infatuation for me, was never short-lived.  I think because the feeling is supposed to be temporary, it ends when the relationship deepens, but many of my relationships never did.   I would continue to date the man, because of the infatuation, and generally they were emotionally unavailable.  This caused many heartaches when the infatuation was finally over, because it is easily misidentified with love. Love is caring for someone for their good and bad qualities.   Infatuation is more about seeing someones good qualities only, so when these relationships ended, there was always the feeling that there could have been so much more with them if they had been willing to put the time into the relationship. On their end,  I assume it was only infatuation too, because they ended the relationship when it started to get serious.  Infatuation is like a high.  You feel as if your on the highest high, rarely need a full nights sleep and spend three hours getting ready for a date.  You rarely sleep the night before, and the dreams you have, are about the person you are so infatuated with. I remember being in a great mood all day simply because I was going to see this person that evening, and it carrying throughout the date. What happens when infatuation does turn into actual love over time, because this does happen.  It happened to me more than once.  Generally over time, you learn to accept the person for their flaws, the good, bad and the ugly.  The infatuation may linger in brief moments throughout the relationship, but there is love there as well. Infatuation can take you on a roller coaster ride, going up and down with your emotions just like a rollercoaster ride, based on whether this individual is more or less infatuated than you.  If they are less infatuated,  you are so depressed when they have to cancel a date.  If they are more infatuated with you, your the one cancelling the date! Infatuation is a normal stage we all experience at some point in the beginning of any love relationship and it does slowly wane off, as we get to know them, flaws and all.  Be careful if all of your relationships are built only around infatuation, and you end them after it has worn off.  It could be a sign that your emotionally unavailable.  You may need to seek counseling for this. The last person I was with, ran through stages of infatuation and reality about me.  When he saw the reality of who I was, both good and bad, he broke up with me. After he had been away from me for a while, the infatuation would set in again, and he would only want me until my flaws appeared so relationships can go back and forth.  Sometimes this is normal, and sometimes, not. Thank you for reading about infatuation with me today.  I expect to see poems and quotes about infatuation and back stories behind them after being so honest and forthright with you!  That is actually my job as a writer so poems and simple quotes are fine too. Have a beautiful and blessed day. Samantha July 26th, 2018 ANNOUNCEMENTS
