BREVITY

What does brevity mean?  How have we seen it used in our everyday language? Webster Dictionary meaning of brevity-1. concise and exact use of words in writing or in speech.  2.  Shortness in time 3.  The quality or state in being brief in duration.  4.  Conciseness of expression;  Verbosity Daily Wisdom Word meaning of brevity-1.  To be as short and brief as possible when expressing yourself. Have you ever met someone who speaks with brevity?  Brevity can sound harsh to someone like myself.  My first real job was in new home sales, and he spoke to me this way;  very short and concise with brevity.  At first, I could not keep up with him or his thoughts and ideas.  I get my feelings hurt easily and people who speak with brevity have to watch out for this, because the shortness with which they are speaking can sound almost angry from an expressive persons point of view. I used to tell people my old boss barked at me, and they would never understand why as I was fairly successful for him.  One day,, I asked him what I was doing wrong that caused him to be so short with me, and he had no idea what I was talking about. Let’s face it.  We all have different speech patterns and someone like myself who expresses every detail of what they are thinking, is going to feel someone who speaks with brevity is being short with them. Brevity is also seen with actors such as Steve McQueen.  The parts he played and the roles he played them in all had him speaking with brevity.  He would never say much in his scripts, but what he did say, was so meaningful.  There is a man that made brevity look very appealing!  Brevity does not mean someone is being rude.  It is simply a short, concise speech pattern, in which someone speaks, verses someone like me, who has to express every single thought.
