Loyalty

LOYALTY

What does loyalty mean and why is it so important? Loyalty Day is now observed on May 1 in the United States. It is a day set aside “for the reaffirmation of loyalty to the United States and for the recognition of the heritage of American freedom.”

We may be a day late with our post, but the meaning is behind it just the same.

Loyalty, according to our trusted Webster means 1. Loyalty-faithful to a cause or ideal; constant

Loyalty is a daily wisdom word that has significant meaning to me because I am a very loyal person and have unfortunately had that challenged in the past.

Loyalty should be important to all of us because if a person cannot remain loyal to you, they cannot be trustworthy. The same can be said the other way around.

If I had to pick one of my strongest suits as far as character goes, I would say it is that I am a loyal person. Other people that I am loyal to know it. They know that if they are not around and someone says something negative about them, I will defend them until the bitter end.

I also consider myself to be trustworthy and without loyalty your usually not trustworthy.

How does “loyalty” play a role with our reader? Loyalty is very important because a reader must know that the writer is good for their word. If I tell my readers that I will write on certain days, and am not loyal to that schedule, how can my readers trust me? If I tell my readers that on Mondays, we will be having a new forum called Memorable Mondays and Monday rolls around and there is no new post, how are they supposed to trust me?

Remember loyalty and trust go hand in hand. I cannot expect my reader to be loyal to reading my posts if I cannot keep my word on when I say I will be writing these posts.

In relationships, loyalty is important, because again, how can we trust someone who cannot remain loyal to us? How can we trust that if we are not standing beside them they will protect our honor or not without us being there? Again, trust and loyalty go hand in hand.

Without loyalty, you would not have best friendships because you would not have trust. You must be a dedicated person to be loyal and a person who respects themselves to expect loyalty. Loyalty is important in all we do and who we are.

I have a relationship with a “friend” right now and no matter how hard she tries, she can’t be loyal to me. She talks behind my back and I ask you if you had a friend like this could you feel loyal and trusted to them?

We have discussed why Loyalty is so important today and why it plays a role in your writing and readership. Your readers must be able to trust your writing schedule and depend on it or it is as good as “stabbing them in the back”.

We are all “imperfectly perfect” and may at times make mistakes with loyalty but that is different than being a person who is not loyal by nature.

Have a great day!
