SARCASM

What is sarcasm and how can it be harmful when we use it or it is used on us?  Let us first take a look at the meaning of sarcasm in our Webster Dictionary. Sarcasm-1.  the use of irony to mock or convey contempt. Daily Wisdom Word Meaning of Sarcasm-1.  The use of abuse of the english language to hurt another person through the use of hurtful words and meanings. Sarcasm is hurtful to others.  We see people use it often under the guise of humor, however, there is always an undertone of contempt towards the person they are speaking with. Sarcasm is usually used when anger and contempt are directly involved in the relationship.  I have experienced the use of sarcasm with me from my brother when mocking how he had heard his father speak to my mother with sarcasm. Sarcasm was often used by my brother to make fun of me or my habits and it has had a lasting effect on me.  Sarcasm is something that one who hears it used on them doesn’t easily forget.  I consider it a last attempt at pretending to be civil with someone you don’t like, but there are better forms of communication to use, and sometimes, if we feel this kind of contempt for another, we shouldn’t say anything at all. Sarcasm hurts the one it is directed towards.  The use of sarcasm not only hurts the other party, it often hurts the one using it, because guilt tends to follow cruelty when underneath it is love.  When your raised in a dysfunctional home, sarcasm becomes second nature and it is considered natural to use sarcasm to hurt other members in the family even when the family member using it loves the other member of the family. We can choose to get across irony towards another in a much more positive form of communication so be very careful with your words and always think before you speak with consideration at the very least towards others.
