MATRIARCH—WHO HAS THIS ROLE IN YOUR FAMILY?

TODAY’S DAILY WISDOM WORD IS MATRIARCH. A MATRIARCH HAS A VERY IMPORTANT ROLE TO PLAY. IT USUALLY IS THE MOTHER/GRANDMOTHER IN THE FAMILY. A MATRIARCH HAS QUITE A RESPONSIBILITY. IT IS HER JOB TO KEEP THE FAMILY COHESIVE AND TOGETHER. FOR EXAMPLE, MY MOTHER IS AN IDEAL MATRIARCH. ALTHOUGH SHE IS 81 YEARS OLD, SHE CAN PREPARE A 12 COURSE THANKSGIVING DINNER BETTER THAN ANYTHING I HAVE EVER TRIED IN ALL MY 57 YEARS. MY MOTHER TAKES HER ROLE AS MATRIARCH SERIOUSLY. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE FAMILY THAT LIVES OUT OF STATE, SHE MAKES SURE TO NOT ONLY INCLUDE THEM IN ALL HOLIDAY’S BUT ENCOURAGE THEM TO CALL OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS AND ENCOURAGES THE CONCEPT OF FAMILY. WE ARE VERY BLESSED TO HAVE SOMEONE LIKE HER PLAY THE MATRIARCH ROLE. SOMETIMES, IT IS OFTEN FORGOTTEN JUST HOW MUCH A MATRIARCH DOES. MY MOTHER DOES MY SISTER’S TAXES, FAVORS FOR ME, ALWAYS LISTENS, DESPITE HOW BUSY SHE IS, AND ALSO DOES THE SAME FOR THE REST OF THE FAMILY. IT IS EASY TO TAKE FOR GRANTED OR OVERLOOK THE ROLE A MATRIARCH HAS AND SHOW APPRECIATION. MY MOTHER INCLUDES US ALL BUT SOMETIMES DURING LAST MINUTE PLANS, WE FORGET TO DO THE SAME AND INCLUDE HER. THIS IS SO HURTFUL TO HER I KNOW, BUT SOMETIMES WE ALL GET OVERLOOKED AND THIS HURTS, ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE INCLUDES ALL IN ANY PLAN. LET US TAKE A LOOK AT THE DEFINITION OF MATRIARCH IN OUR WEBSTER DICTIONARY AND THE DAILY WISDOM WORDS DEFINITION. WEBSTER DEFINITION OF MATRIARCH-A OLDER WOMAN WHO IS HEAD OF FAMILY. DAILY WISDOM WORD DEFINITION-A WOMAN OR MATERNAL MOTHER/GRANDMOTHER OVERSEEING THE BOND IN FAMILY. HAVING A PERSON WHO HOLDS SUCH A KEY KEEPING FAMILY BONDED AND TOGETHER, NO MATTER THEIR LOCATION IS A ROLE PLAYED THAT HAS GREAT RESPONSIBILITY. WE DO NOT WALK IN A MATRIARCH’S SHOES, BUT OVER TIME, I HAVE LEARNED TO TRULY APPRECIATE MY MOTHER, KNOWING ONE DAY I COULD BE A MATRIARCH TO MY CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. Better is not good enough, the best of daily wisdom words is yet to come in Jesus name, amen! This word, MATRIARCH, a good description of my late mother, who went extent far in caring much for other relations at the expense of her immediate family, a coordinating pillar, she pull others to act, always in front directing how little resources could deployed to achieved bigger things, on sighting her all want to be part, if not for anything but for her integrity, not questionable. She use her resources to solve extended families issues devoid of who care or not. Findings of marriages, burials etc. She never seek for attention or seek to be celebrated, always promoting family bond, before her death, she became a unifying factor of a regional repute. thanks so much for sharing! Your mother sounds like a perfect matriarch! Oftentimes, I don’t think a family realizes just how important the role of Matriarch is or the diverisity of this role!
