ONE STEP AT A TIME

“If you set your goals ridiculously high and it’s a failure, you will fail above everyone else’s success.” -James Cameron
Yesterday’s post about introspection was a huge step for me. Not so much because of the topic itself but because I finally what I’ve been doing for the past month or so in words and for everyone else to see. Up until the point I hit “publish,” it was mainly a private affair for me. Much to my relief, however, it was a huge boulder off my chest. Psychologically, it proved to be highly advantageous for me. In that post, I talked about splitting up your emotions down to minute fragments. Today, I’d like to do something similar with that article. I wanted to focus on one specific thing I’d alluded to in that post: taking one step at a time. According to me, no goal or ambition is ever too big to aim for in life. Time and time again, humanity has evolved exponentially far beyond what anyone could have fathomed at the inception stage. What is a mistake, however, is sometimes we expect all goals, big or small, to happen overnight. Not literally, of course, but sometimes we do expect a lot more than the practicality of time allows us. Every single gigantic step involves a million small steps and one of those steps practicality and having your feet on the ground while embarking on any endeavor. Of course there is an ardent desire to reach the top. But it’s equally crucial to reassure yourself that you do have to climb the ladder and that no goal that big can ever be simple. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither are the journeys in life. Be ambitious about whatever you want to achieve. Just go about it step by step to ensure that you leave no stone unturned. How do you approach a goal or an endeavor? Are you specific regarding the direction of the goal or do you tend to look at the big picture? Or perhaps both?
