OUR DAILY WISDOM WORD TODAY IS INTELLIGENCE.  WHAT DETERMINES IF WE ARE INTELLIGENT?  WE ARE MOVING FORWARD EVERY SINGLE DAY IN SCIENCE AND THE PREDICTIONS OF MOVING TO THE DIGITAL AGE.  EVERYTHING APPLIES TO THE ANATOMY OF OUR BRAIN. BECAUSE INTELLIGENCE HOLDS SO MUCH NEW INFORMATION, I AM DIVIDING THIS DAILY WISDOM WORD INTO TWO PARTS OF WHICH THIS IS THE FIRST. 

WE WILL QUICKLY LOOK AT THE WEBSTER MEANING OF INTELLIGENCE.  WEBSTER DEFINITION-1.  HAVING THE ABILITY TO ACQUIRE AND APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS.

ONE TALENT, BEING CREATIVE, COMES FROM ONE SIDE OF THE BRAIN. MATH AND SCIENCE SKILLS TAKE PLACE WITH THE OTHER SIDE.  IN THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY, THE FIRST TEST TO MEASURE INTELLIGENCE WAS DEVELOPED WITH SUBTESTS MEASURING JUDGEMENT ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER THINGS FOR THE EDUCATION MINISTER OF FRANCE. HE HIRED ALFRED BINET TO COME UP WITH A WAY TO SEPARATE THE CHILDREN WHO TRULY BENEFIT FROM EDUCATION RATHER THAN DECIDING THAT BAD BEHAVIOR SHOULD BE THE MEASURING STICK, CHANGING REQUIREMENT ATTRIBUTES TAKING IMPORTANCE OFF OF STUDENTS BEHAVIOR.  

BENET AND A FELLOW COLLABORATOR DEVELOPED THE FIRST INTELLIGENCE TEST.  THIS TEST, INSTEAD OF JUDGING A CHILD FROM BEHAVIOR, USED JUDGEMENT, WITH SUBSECTIONS TO TEST DETERMINING EDUCATION LEVELS.  THIS DEVELOPED OUR FIRST INTELLIGENCE TEST.  THIS TEST IN A FEW YEARS BECAME OUR FIRST I.Q. TEST WHEN A GERMAN PSYCHOLOGIST TOOK THE MENTAL AGE DETERMINED FROM THE TEST DIVIDING IT  BY THE CHILD’S AGE. THIS RESULTED IN OUR FIRST I.Q. TEST WORKING WELL FOR MANY SCHOOLS FOR A FEW DECADES.  

ONE OF OUR GUESTS COMING ON THE SHOW IN EARLY JULY IS A NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST AND RESEARCHER NAMED RICHARD HAIER.  HE STUDIED HIS DECADES-LONG CAREER FIRST AT JOHN HOPKINS UNIVERSITY. I ORDERED HIS BOOK SO WE COULD BE WELL VERSED ON HIS BASE OF KNOWLEDGE. 

BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER THOUGH, IT IS IMPORTANT YOU KNOW WHICH SIDE OF THE BRAIN DOES WHAT.   THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN CONTROLS TASKS OF FUNCTIONAL COMMUNICATION.  THIS INCLUDES PROBLEM-SOLVING, MEMORY, AND REASONING, MUSIC, ART, INTUITION, CREATIVITY, IMAGINATION, FACE RECOGNITION, SUBJECTIVITY ALSO CONTROLLING THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN  WITH BODILY MOVEMENTS. 

THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN COMMUNICATES WITH THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN WHICH CONTROLS OUR ABILITIES WITH NUMBER SKILLS, MATHEMATICAL SKILLS, SCIENCE SKILLS, WRITTEN AND SPOKEN LANGUAGE, OBJECTIVITY, REASONING, ANALYTICAL THINKING, AND OBJECTIVITY.  THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN ALSO CONTROLS THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAINS MOTOR CONTROL

THERE ARE NOT MANY THINGS THAT WE ARE ABLE TO DO THAT UTILIZE BOTH THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDES OF THE BRAIN’S FULL CAPABILITIES.  AT THE SAME TIME, THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN CONTROLS THE LEFT SIDE OF BODY MOVEMENT CONTROL, AND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN CONTROLS THE RIGHT SIDE OF OUR MOTOR CONTROL.  ONLY IN RECENT YEARS HAVE WE BEEN ABLE TO SEE THESE THINGS.  WE DID USE LEADS AND CIRCUITRY IN GENERAL TO  HAVE SOME IDEA ABOUT BRAIN ACTIVITY BUT CERTAINLY DIDN’T KNOW WHAT WE KNOW NOW.  THERE IS ALWAYS A STEP ONE BEFORE TAKING THE NEXT STEP. 

WE NOW HAVE TOMOGRAPHY TESTS SHOWN IN COLORS TO INDICATE OUR BRAIN ACTIVITY AND SPECIFIC AREAS OF THE BRAIN THAT ARE UTILIZED WITH CERTAIN TASKS.  MANY WOULD SAY DR. RICHARD HAIER PIONEERED THE VALUE OF THIS KIND OF TESTING.

GLORY

Who should we give glory to?  Glory is a very powerful daily wisdom word.   Despite your belief system, many of us worship and give glory to the things in life that are simply just “things”.   The day we die, I truly don’t believe we say to ourselves, “thanks so much world for the lovely home or Mercedes I had while here.”  I don’t believe this is the case for anyone. I feel we are moved by a power within that illuminates and grows outward.  I believe we are blessed with something some much more powerful.  Nature can’t explain love and forgiveness.  It can explain the beauty within this world. 

Is it right to glorify another human being?  If we truly believe all of us were created equal in our hearts, the answer is NO.  Let us take a look at the meaning of glory in the Webster Dictionary and of course, the daily wisdom words meaning.  Webster Definition of Glory-1.  High renown or Honor won by notable achievements.   2.   Magnificence or great beauty.  3.  The splendor and bliss of heaven. 

Daily Wisdom Words Definition of Glory-1.  a powerful innate feeling we feel within our heart and soul  2.  an overwhelmed sense of beauty we are touched with when our soul is moved. 

I feel there are too many other words we can use to shower another with honor and the first word I think of is achievement of the highest honor.  if we are all human beings and consider each of us to be equal, this does not mean we each have equal ability in all areas although this is debatable.  There are too many stories of miracles where other human beings turn their life completely around based on sheer will to agree with this conclusion.  

When I hear the words from the Bible or word of God, it fills my soul.  I am not a whole lot of anything.  I don’t attend church as often as I should.  I consider myself to be open minded but believe strongly in my convictions.  I do not believe synergy or anything like it can give you the chills and move your soul unless whatever or whoever can do this is effervescent and capable of moving the soul.  I believe there truly is one all mighty power. 

I do believe when God created what and who he created in all he created, he created all of us  equal.  I also believe that glory we give should only be given to something that moves us in a way like no other.  This is God however we want to define him.  However, if we don’t have faith in something much bigger, omni-powerful than us, what do we have outside of this life?  I have heard the term creator, the usage of Jesus and God, the big bang theory, theory of evolution, but there is nothing “felt when thinking of those theories except in the one of Jesus Christ and God for myself.  I realize everyone is different, and others have the Quran, and Allah, whereas others have philosophy, others are Buddhist in belief and yet others believe in Paganism yet none except for other religions, mine being Christian speak to me as those words do.  I don’t judge you for you beliefs, good or bad.  I don’t judge you in any way.  I am not the ultimate word, leader, sacrificer, savior or solution so I have no right to.  That belongs to the creator of all of the glory around us.  Thanks so much for reading about glory today.  have a beautiful and blessed day.   Samantha Leboeuf/Dailywisdomwords.com

EXCELLENCE- CAN ANYONE ACHIEVE IT?

Excellence is a standard that is difficult to achieve.  Excellence is our daily wisdom word today.  We will take about how to achieve it and if it is possible for a human being to do so to begin with.  I believe we can achieve excellence, but not in every area.  To strive in every area to achieve excellence is one thing.  To strive as a human being to achieve it in all areas is difficult because we are all imperfect as human beings.  I do feel however, that what we can strive to be excellent at are the things we really care about.  These are things we should naturally put more of our time into anyway.  Why not try to continue striving to improve until there is no room for more of it, or we have reached a level of impasse and have done what we can when we can to achieve it.  

Webster Definition of excellence-1.  the quality of being outstanding or extremely good.  

Daily Wisdom Words Definition-1.  The quality within someone to constantly strive to be better as an individual at our highest ability.  

Can anyone achieve excellence?  It is quite hard to achieve it, but when we care about something passionately as humans, I believe we can.  It does not matter what this is.  Perhaps it is cooking, writing, or looking towards becoming better at something over time.  Because excellence is such a high bar to achieve, to expect it immediately is unrealistic.  Is excellence related to intelligence?  Yes, it can be if the person who has to meet this high standard really wishes to achieve it, if you are very intelligent you may catch on to the basics faster.  What others will take longer to learn, you will pick up quicker.  

There is one quality I have found in life that makes excellence possible to achieve besides intelligence, applied to its fullest.   This quality is perseverance.  Perseverance can take us actually further in life than intelligence in itself.  It is hard to apply a number to one’s intelligence anyway just because we wish to.  There are simply too many kinds of intelligence in too many areas.  It is even possible someday we will learn to utilize more of our brain than just 5-10%.  Intelligence however, with perseverance can take us to a level of excellence quicker than any path I am aware of.  There is one other quality of achieving excellence I still haven’t mentioned;  Patience. 

 

Patience is necessary because to be the best it is possible to be overnight no matter how intelligent you are will not happen overnight.  Therefore patience is necessary and like any special ingredient in a recipe, must be added to make the perfect one.  I ask you today to ponder first a list of goals.  Then, place them at a level of priority in your life.  The number one and two things with usually be the best ones to seek excellence out for.  These will be the one or two things, (usually just one), you will be willing to do anything for to achieve success.

WHY DID I PICK THE WORD, STARS FOR OUR DAILY WISDOM WORD TODAY? I PICKED THE WORD STARS FOR ITS TWO MEANINGS, BOTH OF WHICH ARE VERY IMPORTANT.  LET US TAKE A LOOK AT THE DEFINITION OF STARS. 

WEBSTER DEFINITION OF STARS-1.  A FIXED LUMINOUS POINT IN THE NIGHT SKY WHICH IS A LARGE, REMOTE INCANDESCENT BODY LIKE THE SUN.  2.  A STAR SYMBOL USED TO INDICATE A CATEGORY OF EXCELLENCE.  

DAILY WISDOM WORDS DEFINITION OF STARS-INDIVIDUAL DIAMONDS IN THE SKY.  SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE THERE IS A STAR FOR EVERY SOUL ON THIS PLANET.  2.  STARS ARE A MARK OF EXCELLENCE OR WHO WE CALL SOMEONE WHO IS ELITE AT WHAT THEY DO.

YOU, ALSO ARE A STAR IN YOUR OWN RIGHT.  PERHAPS ITS NOT THE KIND OF STAR THAT IS ADVERTISED LIKE AN EXCEPTIONAL SPORTS PLAYER.  SOMEHOW, YOU ARE A STAR.  YOU HAVE SOMETHING THAT SHINES WITHIN YOU.  YOUR A BEAUTIFUL, EXCEPTIONAL PERSON IN YOUR OWN RIGHT, AND A STAR IS MARKED FOR YOU JUST LIKE THE STAR MARKED FOR JOHN ELWAY.  

SOMETHING WITHIN YOU, MAKES YOU EXCEPTIONAL.  SOMETIMES ITS THE PURPOSE YOU SERVE IN LIFE.  PERHAPS ITS YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR, OR THE WAY YOU INTERACT WITH OTHERS.  AGAIN, YOU ARE A STAR IN YOUR OWN RIGHT, AND I WANT EACH OF YOU WHO IS READING THIS TO ASK YOURSELF, WHAT YOUR STAR IN THE SKY REPRESENTS.  IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE REALIZE WE ARE SPECIAL, BUT OTHERS ARE AS WELL IN THEIR OWN WAY.  NONE OF US ARE ANY BETTER THAN ANOTHER, AND EACH OF US SHINE.  IF WE CAN RECOGNIZE WHAT MAKES ANOTHER PERSON A STAR, THAT IS AN EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY IN ITSELF.  

EACH STAR IN THE DARK MIDNIGHT BLUE SKY GOD NAMES AFTER ONE OF US, I BELIEVE.  THERE ARE JUST AS MANY STARS AS THERE ARE PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET.  THERE IS ONLY ONE MOON AND THAT IN ITSELF MAKES THE MOON SPECIAL AND BEAUTIFUL.  NEXT TIME YOU LOOK AT THE SKY ON A CLEAR, MIDNIGHT BLUE SKY, REMEMBER THERE IS ONE UP THERE TWINKLING JUST FOR YOU.  WE ARE ALL STARS AND PART OF LIVING ON THIS PLANET IS FIGURING OUT WHO WE ARE AND WHAT MAKES US SHINE.
