COMBATING WRITER’S BLOCK – PART 2

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you.”
-Maya Angelou

If you’re a writer, you know this feeling inside out. You open up your laptop ready to write up a storm. Two hours later, your page is still blank. You have writer’s block.

INTELLIGENCE

OUR DAILY WISDOM WORD TODAY IS INTELLIGENCE.  WHAT DETERMINES IF WE ARE INTELLIGENT?  WE ARE MOVING FORWARD EVERY SINGLE DAY IN SCIENCE AND THE PREDICTIONS OF MOVING TO THE DIGITAL AGE.  EVERYTHING APPLIES TO THE ANATOMY OF OUR BRAIN. BECAUSE INTELLIGENCE HOLDS SO MUCH NEW INFORMATION, I AM DIVIDING THIS DAILY WISDOM WORD INTO TWO PARTS OF WHICH THIS IS THE FIRST.

WE WILL QUICKLY LOOK AT THE WEBSTER MEANING OF INTELLIGENCE.  WEBSTER DEFINITION-1.  HAVING THE ABILITY TO ACQUIRE AND APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS.

ONE TALENT, BEING CREATIVE, COMES FROM ONE SIDE OF THE BRAIN. MATH AND SCIENCE SKILLS TAKE PLACE WITH THE OTHER SIDE.  IN THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY, THE FIRST TEST TO MEASURE INTELLIGENCE WAS DEVELOPED WITH SUBTESTS MEASURING JUDGEMENT ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER THINGS FOR THE EDUCATION MINISTER OF FRANCE. HE HIRED ALFRED BINET TO COME UP WITH A WAY TO SEPARATE THE CHILDREN WHO TRULY BENEFIT FROM EDUCATION RATHER THAN DECIDING THAT BAD BEHAVIOR SHOULD BE THE MEASURING STICK, CHANGING REQUIREMENT ATTRIBUTES TAKING IMPORTANCE OFF OF STUDENTS BEHAVIOR.

BENET AND A FELLOW COLLABORATOR DEVELOPED THE FIRST INTELLIGENCE TEST.  THIS TEST, INSTEAD OF JUDGING A CHILD FROM BEHAVIOR, USED JUDGEMENT, WITH SUBSECTIONS TO TEST DETERMINING EDUCATION LEVELS.  THIS DEVELOPED OUR FIRST INTELLIGENCE TEST.  THIS TEST IN A FEW YEARS BECAME OUR FIRST I.Q. TEST WHEN A GERMAN PSYCHOLOGIST TOOK THE MENTAL AGE DETERMINED FROM THE TEST DIVIDING IT  BY THE CHILD’S AGE. THIS RESULTED IN OUR FIRST I.Q. TEST WORKING WELL FOR MANY SCHOOLS FOR A FEW DECADES.

ONE OF OUR GUESTS COMING ON THE SHOW IN EARLY JULY IS A NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST AND RESEARCHER NAMED RICHARD HAIER.  HE STUDIED HIS DECADES-LONG CAREER FIRST AT JOHN HOPKINS UNIVERSITY. I ORDERED HIS BOOK SO WE COULD BE WELL VERSED ON HIS BASE OF KNOWLEDGE.

BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER THOUGH, IT IS IMPORTANT YOU KNOW WHICH SIDE OF THE BRAIN DOES WHAT.   THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN CONTROLS TASKS OF FUNCTIONAL COMMUNICATION.  THIS INCLUDES PROBLEM-SOLVING, MEMORY, AND REASONING, MUSIC, ART, INTUITION, CREATIVITY, IMAGINATION, FACE RECOGNITION, SUBJECTIVITY ALSO CONTROLLING THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN  WITH BODILY MOVEMENTS.

THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN COMMUNICATES WITH THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN WHICH CONTROLS OUR ABILITIES WITH NUMBER SKILLS, MATHEMATICAL SKILLS, SCIENCE SKILLS, WRITTEN AND SPOKEN LANGUAGE, OBJECTIVITY, REASONING, ANALYTICAL THINKING, AND OBJECTIVITY.  THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN ALSO CONTROLS THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAINS MOTOR CONTROL

THERE ARE NOT MANY THINGS THAT WE ARE ABLE TO DO THAT UTILIZE BOTH THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDES OF THE BRAIN’S FULL CAPABILITIES.  AT THE SAME TIME, THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN CONTROLS THE LEFT SIDE OF BODY MOVEMENT CONTROL, AND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN CONTROLS THE RIGHT SIDE OF OUR MOTOR CONTROL.  ONLY IN RECENT YEARS HAVE WE BEEN ABLE TO SEE THESE THINGS.  WE DID USE LEADS AND CIRCUITRY IN GENERAL TO  HAVE SOME IDEA ABOUT BRAIN ACTIVITY BUT CERTAINLY DIDN’T KNOW WHAT WE KNOW NOW.  THERE IS ALWAYS A STEP ONE BEFORE TAKING THE NEXT STEP.

WE NOW HAVE TOMOGRAPHY TESTS SHOWN IN COLORS TO INDICATE OUR BRAIN ACTIVITY AND SPECIFIC AREAS OF THE BRAIN THAT ARE UTILIZED WITH CERTAIN TASKS.  MANY WOULD SAY DR. RICHARD HAIER PIONEERED THE VALUE OF THIS KIND OF TESTING.

WE ARE STARTING A DAILY WISDOM WORDS PODCAST THAT WILL BEGIN AIRING ON JUNE 12TH, 2027 ON SPOTIFY, ANCHOR,  AND GOOGLE PODCAST.

DR. RICHARD HAIER’SS BOOK IS ENTITLED, “THE NEUROSCIENCE OF INTELLIGENCE”. THIS BOOK IS WHERE I HAVE GOTTEN MUCH OF THE INFORMATION YOU WILL READ.  YOU MAY WONDER WHY I WOULD CHOOSE A GUEST OF THIS NATURE TO COME ON A PODCAST FOR A POETRY WRITER AND CREATIVE WRITER.  MY ANSWERS ARE SIMPLE.  I WANT TO FIND OUT WHY CREATIVE WRITING AND POETRY USE “BOTH” SIDES OF OUR BRAIN TO WRITE AND MANY WOULD SAY HE PIONEERED THE VALUE IN “BRAIN MAPPING”

DR. RICHARD HAIER WILL BE ON OUR PODCAST FROM THE KINDNESS OF HIS HEART TO TAKE QUESTIONS ABOUT INTELLIGENCE AND POETRY, AND WRITING-RELATED INFORMATION.  ONE THING DR. HAIER MENTIONS IS THAT I.Q. SLOWS AFTER AGE 16 SO IT ISN’T WISE TO KEEP EXPECTING CHANGES AFTER THIS WITH OUR I.Q. SCORES.  WE GROW EMOTIONALLY, PHYSICALLY, BUT OUR I.Q. DOES NOT CHANGE MUCH.  THIS IS WHY I PICKED INTELLIGENCE TODAY.  PART TWO OF INTELLIGENCE WILL COVER HOW WE CAN. BEST UTILIZE OUR INTELLIGENCE DEPENDING ON THE DOMINANT BRAIN SIDE.  THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING PART ONE.  VISIT US ON OUR WEBSITE TO LEARN EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW GETTING THE NECESSARY TOOLS YOU NEED TO BECOME THE BEST WRITER POSSIBLE.  DAILYWISDOMWORDS.COM!  SIGN UP TODAY UNTIL MONTHS END FOR JUST $10 FOR LIFE AND NO DUES.    JOIN OUR #WRITERSCOMMUNITY NOW!

REVIEW:

“PORCH POEMS” WRITTEN BY Shirley Mandel Satterfield  IS A LOVELY COLLECTION OF POETRY ABOUT NATURE AND GOD INTERTWINING TO CREATE SITTING ON A PORCH DURING MORNING.
SATTERFIELD HAS WRITTEN SEVERAL “WORKS OF ART” PORTRAYING GOD AS THE ARTIST AS MOTHER NATURE PROVIDES ABSTRACT COLORS.  ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS WE REALLY ENJOYED READING “PORCH POEMS” WAS MANDEL’S ABILITY TO USE HER OWN PAINTBRUSH WITH CHOSEN WORDS IN EACH POEM.

SATTERFIELD WRITES A COLLECTION OF BEAUTIFUL POEMS TAKING US HOME BOUND.  WE CAN’T HELP BUT APPRECIATE HER INSPIRING DETAIL OF EACH THING YOU MIGHT SEE WHILE SITTING ON A PORCH BREATHING IN THE MORNING AIR OR WATCHING THE SUNRISE.  MANDEL CARRIES YOU ON A JOURNEY THROUGH GOD’S CREATIONS WITH A POEM FOR EACH SEASON.

SMELL THE AIR, FEEL THE WEATHER, APPRECIATE THE SUNSHINE.  WE STRONGLY SUGGEST READING ONE OF THESE POEMS EVERY MORNING TOUCHING YOUR DAY WITH A SENSE OF HEAVEN.
SAY YOUR MORNING PRAYERS OR MEDITATE BEFORE READING ANY OF THESE “CREATIVES” IN THIS WELL ILLUSTRATED COLLECTION OF, “PORCH POEMS”.

WITH A POEM SHARING A WONDERFUL VISUAL, DIFFERENT SCENES PAINTED BY SATTERFIELD ARE WORDS WHICH FLOW TO THE HEART,  SATTERFIELD WILL TAKE YOU ON A SIMPLE JOURNEY WHILE READING THEM.  THERE ARE SO MANY BEAUTIFUL, ORGANIC POEMS REFLECTING THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE WE ALL TAKE FOR GRANTED, BUT SATTERFIELD DOES NOT.  SATTERFIELD REFERS TO.THE MORNING CLOUDS BEING SHAPED LIKE “ANIMALS” IN HER POEM TITLED, “SOMETIMES A TURTLE.”  ONE OF OUR FAVORITE POEMS FROM THIS BOOK IS CALLED, “MORNING BIRD”, WHICH INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING VERSE:

“I KNOW THAT MORNINGS ARE QUIET FOR A REASON,
IT’S THE STILLNESS OF A 24 HOUR SEASON.”
WHEN OUR MINDS HAVE BEEN SETTLED BY REPOSE,
                                AND OUR FEELINGS ARE COMPOSED.

THIS VERSE WOWED US, TAKING OUR MINDS INTO SIMPLE, UNINTERRUPTED THOUGHTS WE ALL HAVE WHILE WAKING UP FIRST THING IN THE MORNING.  WE ALSO LOVED SATTERFIELD’S POEM CALLED, “MOTHER MORNING”. THIS POEM SHARES WITH US A LINE THAT STICKS; “AS MOTHER MORNING DONS HER ROBE”.  YOU LITERALLY VISUALIZE WHAT IT MIGHT FEEL LIKE IF MORNING ACTUALLY WORE A ROBE AS MOST OF US DO UPON WAKING UP.  ANOTHER POEM, “THE BOSS”,  ALSO STANDS OUT, SUMMING UP THE QUIET POWER A “WOMAN OF HER OWN HOUSE” HAS.  MANDEL BRILLIANTLY WRITES YET ANOTHER POEM
TITLED, “MUSING IN ISOLATION”.  THE  UNIQUE WAY HER WORDS COME TOGETHER CREATING A VISION IN OUR IMAGINATION IS SHEER BRILLIANCE.

ANOTHER POEM SATTERFIELD INCLUDES, :”LOOK IT’S SNOWING” MENTIONS EACH SNOWFLAKE BEING UNIQUELY SHAPED WHEN FALLING FROM THE SKY.  WE FEEL THE COLD TASTE OF A SNOWFLAKE WHILE READING THIS, IF A SNOWFLAKE HIT OUR TONGUE.   IN THIS POEM, SATTERFIELD TALKS OF A WINTER’S MORNING PLANS TO GO OUT, CHANGING QUICKLY INTO PLANS OF STAYING HOME BECAUSE OF A COLD WEATHER STORM.

WE HAVE DONE REVIEWS FOR SHIRLEY MANDEL SATTERFIELD IN THE PAST, LOVING HER WONDERFUL POETRY AND WORDS. THIS IS OUR FAVORITE POETRY BOOK BY FAR.  “PORCH POEMS” EASILY GETS FIVE STARS. SATTERFIELD TAKES POETESS INTO A NEW LEVEL OF MEANING.  “PORCH POEMS” BY SHIRLEY MANDEL SATTERFIELD IS A NECESSITY ON YOUR NIGHTSTAND FOR EACH MORNING!  IT IS A MUST TO BUY IF YOU LOVE POETRY YOU CAN FEEL, TASTE AND TOUCH WITH THE WORDS CAREFULLY CHOSEN.  SHIRLEY MANDEL SATTERFIELD CRAFTING “SHEER BRILLIANCE” WITH CAREFULLY CHOSEN WORDS IN THIS SUPERB COLLECTION OF POEMS.  BUY NOW!!

COMMUNICATION SKILLS-PART 3 “PAINTING A PICTURE”

COMMUNICATION SKILLS TOUCH ON EVERY ASPECT OF OUR LIVES.  WHETHER WE ARE A WRITER, READER, SPEAKER, OR ARTIST, USING DESCRIPTIONS TO “PAINT A PICTURE” IS ONE KEY OF COMMUNICATION NOT OFTEN DISCUSSED.  PAINTING A PICTURE MEANS DESCRIBING ORALLY, IN WRITING, OR A PAINTING THAT AN ARTIST WISHES TO CONVEY A SPECIFIC MESSAGE IN, PAINTING A PICTURE IS VITAL TO KEEP OUR MESSAGE INTERESTING.  IN ORDER FOR US TO PAINT A PICTURE, WE MUST FIRST SEE IT IN OUR MINDS.  IF WE ARE A WRITER, AND HAVE A SPECIFIC STORYLINE, DOING A GREAT JOB “PAINTING A PICTURE” CAN MEAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A READER HAVING A PIEICE OF YOUR VISION OR A BORING READ.

WHEN WE COMMUNICATE, WE MUST SET THE STAGE OR PAINT A PICTURE WITH THE PROPER WORDS THAT ARE DESCRIPTIVE AND LIVELY  OF OUR BACKGROUND AND  CONVEY TO THE READER WITH ADJECTIVES, AND ADVERBS THE ERA IN WHICH THE STORY WE WRITE IS SET IN, ESPECIALLY IF OUR STORY IS TIME SENSITIVE.  FOR EXAMPLE, SET BACK IN THE EARLY 1900’S.   WE NEED TO SET THE BACKGROUND PICTURE IN CONTEXT REGARDLESS.  THE READER NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO FEEL AS WE DO WHEN WE WRITE THE STORY.  IF IT IS SET IN A TIME ERA, RESEARCH SHOULD BE DONE BY THE AUTHOR SO HE OR SHE CAN PAINT A CLEAR PICTURE.  IF THE TIMELINE IS NOT CLEAR, THE STORYLINE CAN BE NEGATIVELY AFFECTED.  IF THE ERA OR TIME THE STORY IS SET IN DOES NOT HAVE PROPER DESCRIPTIVES, THE WRITER WON’T CONVEY  CLEARLY THE ERA THE STORY IS SET IN FOR THE READER .  WHAT IS THE  SCENERY SURROUNDING THE CHARACTERS, HOW IS THE ARCHITECTURE IF IN A SPECIFIC COUNTRY WHERE ARCHITECTURE PLAYS A ROLE IN OUR SETTING, AND HELP THE READER GETS LOST AND CONNECT TO OUR STORY.  THIS “CONNECTION OR PICTURE” INCLUDING  DESCRIBING THE WEATHER SURROUNDING THER CHARACTERS  DOES NOT HAPPEN FOR THE READER IF A CLEAR PICTURE ISN’T PAINTED.

AS WRITERS, WE KNOW READER’S LOVE A GREAT DESCRIPTION.  THERE ARE MANY REASONS WHY THIS IS THE CASE, THE MAIN REASON BEING IT ALLOWS THEM TO CONNECT BETTER WITH THE CHARACTERS IN THE BOOK, OUR SCENARIO PAINTED, AND FRANKLY READER’S ENJOY FEELING THEY ARE IN THE PICTURE WE PAINT.  I HOPE THIS BROUGHT TO LIGHT HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO PAINT A GREAT SCENE THEY CAN CONNECT WITH.  THIS IS ALSO TRUE WHEN WE ARE PUBLICLY SPEAKING IN GIVING A DETAILED PICTURE OF HOW OR WHEN OR WHY OR WHAT OCCURRED SURROUNDING THE EVENTS WE ARE SPEAKING ABOUT.  THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING,

VASE AND MEMORY

I have come to realize that for every painted art or drawing there’s a story or memory attached to it and I was very keen to know the story behind this beautiful vase you see.

After my husband’s memorial service everyone was distant and as they (Donnie T’s family) left the funeral home, I didn’t even get to keep his ashes or not a single flower from the mountains of arrangements were delivered from all over the world. You see Donnie T Man was very loved by everyone and they loved me for loving him. This vase of flowers is drawn from my memory of the memorial that wasn’t supposed to be a thing. Donnie T’s wishes were no memorial! Not anything. Donna T Lady was very vulnerable at the time shortly after she lost her soulmate.

The earth shattered ✍🏻🙏😥

The vase reminds me of how big my heart is and how much I’ve forgiven myself in the years that have transpired.

Love,

Donna Marie.

I guess I was right to ask if there’s was a memory attached to this vase. You see, as humans we don’t just do anything out of the blues. Even the smallest of things that we do comes with a reason.

LITERATURE THE FALL OF LITERATURE IN THE EDUCATION SYSTEM

Many schools have moved away from teaching literature in elementary schools through high school because the education system doesn’t feel like it is as important as it once was.  Educators and their curriculum barely touch on literature in English, but there are still very good reasons to integrate more studies focused on literature within English.  Let us take a look at the meaning of literature in our Webster Dictionary.

Literature-1. Written works, especially those considered of superior or lasting artistic merit.  2.  books and writings published on a particular subject. Daily wisdom word meaning.

Daily Wisdom Word meaning-1.  1.  a subject taught in a mixture of English and history teaching us the value of our heritage and fundamentals of creativity with words.

This is a subject very important to me based on my interaction with authors and poets and one of the main reasons I started the website, daily wisdom words.  What does literature offer students today?  Literature has the capacity to broaden a child’s horizons by helping them to appreciate their culture and heritage.  Literature promotes creativity in a child by letting them see the beauty of words and how famous writers have and do use them.  Since literature is integrated into our standard  IQ test, and part of how we score one way of judging intelligence, It ought to be taught within mainstream education as it once was.

Not only does literature promote creativity and imagination, but it also helps develop an interest in words themselves.  Poetry and past renowned authors show children and teens another outlet of communication and its importance.  How does one find out they have a passion to write a book or poetry?  I  believe literature being taught in our schools through our English courses and even modern literature helps encourage writers all over this world.  If literature wasn’t taught in a basic curriculum program throughout our education, we would find those famous writers might be a thing of the past.

Words and their meaning held us learn the importance of articulation and differences in words that sound alike, for example, “too or two”, but their definition.  Without teaching this in our education system and encouragement of literature’s importance, our youth cannot and does not learn the value of words, communicating properly with them and their different meanings.

Picture an interview years later without the base of literature and its education.  The candidate looking for a job is judged not only on nonverbal cues but verbal ones.  A strong base in literature is a stepping stone to the future and new authors and poets who will in the future be famous in history.  Dailywisdomwords.com is dedicated to donating to UNICEF for children because a portion of the money is used towards education.  This is why we have daily poetry and writer’s prompts, discounted book reviews, “Wise Poets and Authors of Past and Present” by our writer each week by Shirley Mandel Satterfield, uplifting articles promoting the value of words, their use and meaning, and counseling encouraging the fundamentals and value of communication,

The entire website is based on the importance of literature.  If you write anything based on integrated creativity, you need to be a part of this writer’s website which is just $10 for a lifetime membership.  If you are not a writer, please donate to the importance of this website and writing skills taught well.  thanks so much, Samantha Leboeuf/dailywisdomwords.com. ORIGINALITY

WE ARE ALL CREATIVE AND GIFTED WITH ORIGINALITY.  THERE IS ONLY ONE “YOU” IN THIS ENTIRE WORLD.  I Find it fascinating that we are all different, original and unique. Your  originality is seen sometimes visual.  You look different than everyone else.  You are special and unique.  I am going to take this one step further.  Who we are is divided into three parts.  Our soul, mind and body.  Each of these qualities are original.  We all have periods in life when our originality needs to shine, and it feels as if it doesn’t.

We don’t realize we will stand out from others not by coloring our hair pink, or dressing with clothing that stands out or piercing our tongue.  We stand out when we allow our soul to shine.  We stand out where it counts.  We speak our opinion expressing our voice.  This in and of itself is originality within yourself.  If you want to dye your hair pink, or  get piercings, or tattoos go for it.  My point in bringing it up is we do not need these things to be original.  We are born original.  If you decide to get a piercing, dye your hair green, do it because you like it!

This is a reason to definitely go for those options “if it is simply because you like it”.  If you do something to change who you are even if it is to better yourself, building on your own foundation, that is awesome.  Never compromise your originality to be someone else’s idea of who you should be or change yourself for others.  We lose some of our originality when we try to “fit in”. Your originality is the one thing that is who you are and yours alone.  I see us making decisions to be or do someone that we are not, making decisions that  make ourselves stand out.  Let us take a peak at the meaning of originality in our Webster Dictionary and the daily wisdom word definition.

Webster Definition of originality-1.  The ability to think independently and creatively.

Daily Wisdom Word Definition-1.  the core of our being or soul.

This is not why you should be doing whatever it is you feel will make you fit in with a friend, a boyfriend, or a whole circle of friends.  Real self-confidence is found in originality that is internal and this originates from your core.  It shows in your personality, your actions, and who you are.  Don’t give your originality up for anyone.  Do not change for others to “make things work”.  Inside we need to remember we are special in and of ourselves and to change this for someone else is simply not worth the sacrifice we would be making with our originality.  If you are working on behavior “together” looking for a middle ground, this is not compromising your originality.  It is your inner strength and heart wanting to compromise to make a relationship work because it is worth it and is done with your partner who modifies some things for you as well.   Thanks so much for reading about “originality” today.  I hope something in this writing touches you in some way.  If it does, please share beneath this post and “join the discussion”.

Thanks for reading, Samantha LeBoeuf

POEMS HOW DO WE KNOW IF WE WRITE POETRY WELL?

Many of us write poems and often wonder if what we write or how we have written, is a good poem.  I often share with others that poems we write or poetry is subjective.  It is often wonderful to many and not to others.  It is simply a matter of taste if your poem is a good one or not.  What is most important is having the confidence to actually try to write a poem.

My friend  recently in her fifty years, has now discovered she can paint Pictures!  It is amazing what we are able to do, but never are fully aware of what these things may include because we honestly haven’t put the effort into initially trying.  Poetry is the same.  Many of us can write wonderful poetry, but may not be aware of it.  I have many members who join our website for a writing community that not only promotes your work in writing of any kind, but encourages you!  I find it fascinating when I hear as the founder of daily wisdom words others who are just starting to write poetry.  They want to know how I feel about a poem they have written but are just starting out.  I have seen so often their first attempts at poetry and continued to encourage them and cannot believe the improvement the majority of them make over time with practice.

They’re descriptive adjectives and adverbs and metaphors only improve!  Many of them had not idea they would actually be so good at writing a poem.  We have daily prompts with live hosts to encourage all writers.  We believe over time, and with practice they only get better with their internal gift.  The best feeling in the world I get as the founder of Daily Wisdom Words, LLC is when I hear an indebted thank you for our encouragement as the team we are, with their writing.  Poetry doesn’t  have to rhyme to be considered a poem!  I do write most of my poetry with rhymes but some of the best poems I’ve read do not rhyme but do paint a picture with words.

There are very few things related to our brain we do that require “BOTH” sides of our brain, our creative side and logical side to do.  Often people are surprised when I let them know poetry is one of these things.  This is why writers often find other creative avenues opening for them like my friend who is very good at painting already.  With each picture I see she is painting, I see improvement.  This is also true for poetry.  Please, if you have not attempted to write a poem, make sure to attempt to at least write a poem in your lifetime.  You may just surprise yourself.  I have seen this more often work and successful poems in my opinion result from attempting to write a poem.  Tomorrow is my official birthday.  It would mean so much to me to see when this is published tomorrow, many poems written in the comments section beneath this post.

As I mentioned, my personal belief is that poetry is subjective and so is what decides what the daily wisdom word, Poems means.  I will not be posting the Webster definition of the word, or my definition as poetry cannot be confined to a “one definition fits all” box.  Great Poems involve creativity, imagination and the meaning within our hearts which reveals itself in our words, whatever they are.

Today, as I write this, it is Halloween.  For my birthday, sign up today!!  I would love to welcome you to our poetry family and see your progress as you try writing in any capacity whether it be poetry, short stories, or a novel!!  We have room for all writer’s and make sure to give your $10 one time investment its full worth and them some!

Thanks so much, Samantha LeBoeuf/Founder, Dailywisdomwords.com.  If you want to sign up, simply vidit our website just listed, and you will immediately see a place to do so!!

FOG AND SCULPTURE

Have you heard of a fog sculpture? I guess your answer is no. Let’s talk about it on DWW PICTURE POETRY.

So, I was reading a book by Dan Brown and I can’t across the term in chapter one of ‘The Origin’. Bemused at a term I knew nothing about and sought help from an online encyclopedia that you all know and I was shock at my discovery.

Based on research, a certain Fujiko Nakaya is credited for making fog sculptures. She makes them graciously by using technology, architecture and nature.

Let’s talk about fog sculptures today.

INTELLIGENCE-WHAT MAKES A PERSON INTELLIGENT? (INTERVIEW INCLUDED)

Some people are simply born bright.  Have you noticed these individuals?  Their minds, memory, and thoughts when verbalized, are way ahead of yours.  Intelligence, however has many different forms it may take.  This article will discuss intelligence and the different types we have.

Innate/Cognithive skill intelligence is the type of intelligence I will mention first.  I have seen or met very few people who have this type of intelligence.  Let’s pretend you are looking for a solution for anything, myself for example.  These highly intelligent thinkers come up with an answer before I am able to process the full issue..

One person who I have gotten to know personally would be our IT hosting specialist.  Before I can even organize my thoughts, Matthew has come up with a sensible solution and does it so fast.  He seems to be two steps ahead of me at all times.  It is not just because he works in a field I don’t know as much about.  It has to do with his agile thinking from any perspective, even outside the box thinking.  Did Matthew learn this in college?  I don’t believe so.  I think he was born with it.  I asked Matthew some questions I think are pertinent to cognitive ability and thinking process.  I found his answers fascinating. Next, are the questions I asked, and Matthew’s answers.

When you were a child, did you exhibit boredom easily? Yes; at a young age this was addressed by simply learning more about everything i could get my hands on. Soon, my school began letting me take classes for grades above me simultaneously with my onlevel work as a way to “keep me busy”. It’s a safe assumption that when I wasn’t kept busy, I was a problem child to my teachers who were focused on the other 30 students.
How old were you when you walked? I was walking and talking around 18 months old. Somehow needed to move so badly that I skipped crawling all together. Schools and parents were not happy with the number of bruises that this faulty progression left me with.
How were you grades?  I did really well in school until sophomore year of highschool. Until that point I was a straight A honor-roll kinda student. After that my lack of focus shifted my interests into more, harmful directions.
Are you a perfectionist? This is a tricky one. The truth is it relates to my interest and ego levels at any given point of time. If something is unlikely to be seen by others (family, friends, employer) then is much more likely to just do an ok job at a task, and be content with “just fixing the rest later” if i think there was more effort i could have given. On the contrary, if there is a high level of interest in a significant ego component to a particular task, then it will get my undivided attention. To be frank, it will get so much attention that it will be to the detriment of other tasks that I should be prioritizing, but can’t bother to focus on yet.
You appear to hear, and receive, process information quickly.  Why do you think this is? I don’t listen well. That’s the honest truth. I am working really hard to be a better listener, but it’s a work in progress. The biggest reason for this is my need to find the answer. In doing so, I take each work I hear and filter them trying to find the fastest route to the solution a person may be asking about. This leads me to “jump” to conclusions very rapidly in a conversation. Time and repetition has honed the skill and for most scenarios I actually know the answer before a person finishes asking the question. The skill I do not possess is the ability to filter myself and not cut people off with my perceived answers before they finish because there are times when I guess the wrong questions to answer.
Do you feel you talk or listen to others or both?  Talk, I am a terrible listener. My mind moves a million miles a minute and my mouth is not far off of that. I actually prefer to think aloud, thus rarely to I take time to listen to others.
What do you excel most with?  mathematics? or english or art? When I was younger it was math. Now problem solving and solution generation is more of what I can do. I have never been good at the fundamentals of English or language. Art is something I am jealous of, because I possess absolutely zero artistic creativity.

Fluid intelligence-this is the basic reasoning and other mental activities which excel despite one’s education level.  In other words, it appears they are born with it.. It involves the portion of the brain which has to do with short term memory.  It also has to do with the ability to easily fall into any environment and fit in, learning the skill set necessary quickly to be successful

Another type of intelligence is called Crystallized intelligence.  It refers to learned procedures and knowledge a person gains with experiences.  This type of intelligence refers to Algebra learned in school, vocabulary and spelling.  This means although the person had to learn what they know, they were especially wired to absorb whatever it is they are taught as well as what the learn  in school and from others.

Emotional intelligence refers to one being able to. identify their own emotions correctly and other’s emotions.  Empathy plays a very important part of emotional intelligence.  Emotional intelligence has been described by leading psychologists in the field of E.I. and is described as the array of skills such as leadership, compatibility,  Currently, a debate exists as to whether emotional intelligence is an intelligence that should be taken seriously. These individuals have the ability to perceive emotions, access and generate emotion, Perceiving emotions, Understanding emotions, and managing emotions.  It is said that leadership skills are higher with one who has E. I.  They tend to have self-regulations, social skills, empathy and motivation. Although there are tests to measure E.I., Scientists are in doubt for counting this as a measurably scientifically.  According to a recent article by the journalist, Daniel Goleman, emotional intelligence accounts for more career success than I.Q.

There is much more to cover, but this is enough for today!  As always, thanks for reading.  Beneath the “ten reasons you should join daily wisdom words” please share your thoughts, or anything you wish in the “join the discussion” area of this post.

ROADBLOCKS HOW DO WE OVERCOME THEM?

Life is full roadblocks.  Some of us see a roadblock and stop.  Some of us see a roadblock as a hurdle.  We find a way to go around it or jump over it.  The latter is the kind of person I like to be and believe myself to be.  Viewing a life full of roadblocks, is realistic.  Life, especially when dealing with complicated situations will present us with “roadblocks”.  If we turn away, without looking for a way around, we basically allow these roadblocks to control us and our decisions.  You can be the most intelligent person on this planet, but if you do not know how to proceed around roadblocks rather than turn away, you won’t get very far with this.

Let us take a look at the definition of a roadblock in our Webster Dictionary and the daily wisdom words definition.

Webster Definition of roadblock-1.  Something that blocks progress or prevents accomplishment of an objective.

Daily Wisdom Words Definition-a temporary workaround that stops us in our tracks but doesn’t stop us more than temporarily.

Creativity is a quality that is just as important as intelligence but without persistence, creativity in and of itself, can’t guide you around the roadblocks in life.  When we take creativity and add persistence and intelligence, we have a winning mix of  human success.  If we have a dream, unless we attempt to make it reality, it will always be just a dream in our mind.  A dream is no different that a dream you have when you are sleeping and wake up.  You may remember a dream as meaningful, but chances are it is forgotten or placed in our imagination never to play on into reality.  A dream we never play out by trying despite the roadblocks we should expect will sadly remain just this.  Let us refer to roadblocks to also be thought of as looking at a map.  If I want to go to Colorado from Arizona, there is more than one path to get there.  This is how we must view roadblocks in life.

Persistence, which I mentioned is a quality needed to bring a dream into reality is nothing more than making a decision with vision and a plan.  The more specific the plan is adding some flexibility for the roadblocks in life is one that, with the right plan will be successful.  I feel very confident, if you have a plan with logistics and a specific plan you will achieve your dream.

A dream that is something in your heart and head is a dream that is very powerful with persistence and creativity and I believe with the right plan we can achieve it.  There will always be those individuals who are the negative nellies telling us that our dream is unrealistic and impossible.  They will have many reasons why your dream will not succeed and may have valid points, but only you in your heart with the right plan will know it is possible with proper persistence.  One of the first poems I wrote when I was maybe 11 or 12 years old, still rings true today for me:  It goes like this:  “Never give up on something you really want, not until the end.”  When all else fails, make sure to begin once again.”  This still comes to mind for me when I wish to turn a dream into reality.

Thanks so much for reading.

LEADERS ARE YOU A LEADER OR FOLLOWER?

Leaders:  are you a leader or a follower?

Our Daily Wisdom Word, Leaders, is a special one because not all of us are leaders, and they make things happen.  What is a leader?  a leader is a teacher.  They have a plan of action before we do, and they are not afraid to express or try the plan. There are two kinds of leaders.   “Positive Leaders” are inspirational. This is the type of leader we will focus on today.  We can’t help but admire them, because they always seem to have the answers whether it be in a work environment, or a friendship.  Not all of their ideas are perfect, but they are at least a plan to take action.

Followers think of ideas, but sometimes don’t have the confidence to express these thoughts and carry them forward to the next step.  Followers sometimes don’t have an issue with confidence, but are simply shy.  I understand the leader and the follower well.  I used to be a follower.  I was afraid in a group to speak up for fear of what others might think of me.  As I have gotten older, my role has definitely changed.  I have passion and care very much for others.  I am not afraid to give someone advice, even if they don’t ask for it.  This can be an issue as well because sometimes, we simply need someone to listen without judgement.  I founded Daily Wisdom Words, and it seems to have inspired many writers instilling confidence in their abilities.

We sometimes play both roles.  We tend to gravitate more to one side or the other and this tells us who we are.  Followers like leaders being the main character and implementing a plan.  This for the follower sometimes is a relief.  It is one less burden they have to take on in life.  If a leader’s plan fails, the follower does not bear the main portion of responsibility.

We will consult the Webster Dictionary and see what the meaning of a leader is.

Webster definition of Leader-1.  the person who leads or commands a group, organization or charity.  2.  the principle player.

Daily Wisdom Word Definition of leader-one who has enough self-confidence to express a game plan to others naturally.

Some of us do not play both roles.  There are those people that are born leaders.  They think of a solution to a problem and speak out.  They are not afraid to share ideas.  They seem to have a knack with wisdom and gravitate towards successful solutions.  I watch my daughter.  She is a born leader.  I feel inspired around her.  She showed leadership with her friends with great social ideas and they were happy to have her be their leader.  She is never afraid to give great suggestions, shows wisdom beyond her years, and I tend to hold back when I am with her, because she likes this role.  Leaders are natural parents.  They make the job look easy.  Leaders are able to focus on more than one thing at a time.  Leaders also are generally type A personalities.  Leaders set the example, good or bad and other gravitate towards their plan.  Leaders generally pick a submissive mate who is not threatened by them leading or setting up their plans.  A follower is a great partner for a leader because their viewpoint is it is one less thing they have to worry about having a plan, they just need to follow directions.

Leaders are also charismatic.  Let’s talk a little about the personality of a follower.  These individuals think before they speak their thoughts.  They are smart in this way, knowing if they don’t supply the idea to make a plan work, they also don’t bear responsibility if the leader’s plan fails.  Followers are good listeners, and are good at implementing others ideas.  Once a plan of action by the leader has been decided, followers are happy to make suggestions.  Followers tend to be more introverted.  You decide after giving it some thought.  Are you a leader or a follower?  beneath this post is a rectangle box titled, “join the discussion”.  I would love to hear if you are a follower or leader and why you believe so.  Leave me a comment, and let’s start a discussion.  This is a fascinating topic to converse on.

JUST MY IMAGINATION BY THE TEMPTATIONS

LYRICS

Each day through my window I watch her as she passes by
I say to myself you’re such a lucky guy,
To have a girl like her is truly a dream come true
out of all the fellows in the world she belongs to me.
But it was Just my imagination,
once again runnin’ away with me.
It was just my imagination runnin’ away with me. Oo
Soon we’ll be married and raise a family (Oh yeah)
A cozy little home out in the country with two children maybe three.
I tell you I can visualize it all
this couldn’t be a dream for too real it all seems;
But it was Just my imagination once again runnin’ way with me.
Tell you it was just my imagination runnin’ away with me.
Ev’ry night on my knees I pray Dear Lord, Hear my plea;
Don’t ever let another take her love from me or I would surely die.
Her love is heavenly, when her arms enfold me,
I hear a tender rhapsody; but in reality she doesn’t even know me.
Just my imagination once again runnin’ way with me.
Tell you it was just my imagination runnin’ away with me.
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, can’t forget her
Just my imagination once again runnin’ way with me.
Tell you it was just my imagination runnin’ away with me.
