SPARKLE

TODAY OUR DAILY WISDOM WORD IS SPARKLE.  WHEN WE THINK OF SPARKLE, WE OFTEN THINK OF BLING.  WE THINK ABOUT SOMETHING BRIGHT AND SHINY HOWEVER, THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT CAN ALSO SPARKLE.   

I LOOK AT SPARKLE AS THE SHINE ONE HAS WHEN INTERACTING WITH OTHERS.  HAVE YOU EVER MET SOMEONE THAT HAS “SPARKLE” AS PART OF THEIR PERSONALITY?  THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT THEM THAT DRAWS YOU TO THEM.  THEY HAVE WHAT I REFER TO AS THE PERSONALITY OF ONE WHO SPARKLES OR SHINES.  IT TAKES MORE THAN CHARISMA TO SPARKLE. 

I BELIEVE WHEN WE HAVE CHARISMA WE HAVE A PERSONALITY THAT IS MAGNETIC.  I BELIEVE THAT WHEN WE HAVE SPARKLE, OUR SOUL SHINES.  SPARKLE, AS I CALL IT, COMES WHEN YOU ARE HAPPY WITH YOURSELF.  IT IS SOMETHING WE OFTEN AREN’T AWARE OF, BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE AREN’T TRULY HAPPY.  WHEN WE SEE THOSE THAT SPARKLE, THEY ARE NOT JUST HAPPY IN THE MOMENT.  THEY ARE HAPPY DESPITE UPS AND DOWNS.  TRUE HAPPINESS SHINES LIKE A BEACON IN THE NIGHT, LIGHTING A PATH FOR OTHERS, SHINING  FROM THEIR BEING.   THIS IS THE DEFINITION I THINK OF WHEN ONE SPARKLES.  THEIR HAPPINESS SHINES FROM WITHIN.  THERE IS PROBABLY ONE TO TWO PEOPLE I HAVE MET OVER A LIFETIME THAT TRULY SHINES OR SPARKLES.   

THEY ARE THE ONES, DESPITE A RAINY DAY AND DREARY CLOUDS, WHO ARE HAPPY.  FOR THEM, THERE ARE NO BAD DAYS.  THERE ARE DAYS HOWEVER, THAT ARE FILLED WITH BAD EVENTS, BUT THAT IS WHEN ONE WHO HAS SPARKLE SHINES THE MOST.  THEY REACH OUT TO HELP OTHERS AND IT IS WITH THAT SPARKLE, THEY CAN HELP OTHERS WHEN THE DARKEST OF DAYS DAWN AS WE CONTINUE TO SEE IN THE PANDEMIC. 

THERE ARE SIMPLY THOSE THAT HAVE THE ABILITY TO STAY GROUNDED WITH GREAT DISPOSITION DESPITE WHAT GOES ON AROUND THEM.  THESE ARE THE INDIVIDUALS THAT TRULY SHINE.  THEY ARE THE ETERNAL OPTIMISTS FROM THE SOUL AND WILL ALWAYS “SPARKLE” DESPITE CIRCUMSTANCES, LIFE EVENTS OR TRAGEDY.  DO THEY EXPERIENCE SADNESS WE MAY ASK?  YES, BUT IT IS IN THEIR PERCEPTION WHAT MAKES THEM DIFFERENT.  THEY SHINE EVEN WHEN TRAGEDY STRIKES.  THEY HAVE THE STRANGE QUALITY OF SEEING THE HOPE IN WHAT APPEARS AS A HOPELESS SITUATION.  THEY CAN LITERALLY LIGHT ANOTHER’S INTERNAL CANDLE BY HELPING THEM SEE LIGHT IN THE DARKEST OF DAYS.  THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING TODAY.

WHY DID I PICK THE WORD, STARS FOR OUR DAILY WISDOM WORD TODAY? I PICKED THE WORD STARS FOR ITS TWO MEANINGS, BOTH OF WHICH ARE VERY IMPORTANT.  LET US TAKE A LOOK AT THE DEFINITION OF STARS. 

WEBSTER DEFINITION OF STARS-1.  A FIXED LUMINOUS POINT IN THE NIGHT SKY WHICH IS A LARGE, REMOTE INCANDESCENT BODY LIKE THE SUN.  2.  A STAR SYMBOL USED TO INDICATE A CATEGORY OF EXCELLENCE.  

DAILY WISDOM WORDS DEFINITION OF STARS-INDIVIDUAL DIAMONDS IN THE SKY.  SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE THERE IS A STAR FOR EVERY SOUL ON THIS PLANET.  2.  STARS ARE A MARK OF EXCELLENCE OR WHO WE CALL SOMEONE WHO IS ELITE AT WHAT THEY DO.

YOU, ALSO ARE A STAR IN YOUR OWN RIGHT.  PERHAPS ITS NOT THE KIND OF STAR THAT IS ADVERTISED LIKE AN EXCEPTIONAL SPORTS PLAYER.  SOMEHOW, YOU ARE A STAR.  YOU HAVE SOMETHING THAT SHINES WITHIN YOU.  YOUR A BEAUTIFUL, EXCEPTIONAL PERSON IN YOUR OWN RIGHT, AND A STAR IS MARKED FOR YOU JUST LIKE THE STAR MARKED FOR JOHN ELWAY.  

SOMETHING WITHIN YOU, MAKES YOU EXCEPTIONAL.  SOMETIMES ITS THE PURPOSE YOU SERVE IN LIFE.  PERHAPS ITS YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR, OR THE WAY YOU INTERACT WITH OTHERS.  AGAIN, YOU ARE A STAR IN YOUR OWN RIGHT, AND I WANT EACH OF YOU WHO IS READING THIS TO ASK YOURSELF, WHAT YOUR STAR IN THE SKY REPRESENTS.  IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE REALIZE WE ARE SPECIAL, BUT OTHERS ARE AS WELL IN THEIR OWN WAY.  NONE OF US ARE ANY BETTER THAN ANOTHER, AND EACH OF US SHINE.  IF WE CAN RECOGNIZE WHAT MAKES ANOTHER PERSON A STAR, THAT IS AN EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY IN ITSELF.  

EACH STAR IN THE DARK MIDNIGHT BLUE SKY GOD NAMES AFTER ONE OF US, I BELIEVE.  THERE ARE JUST AS MANY STARS AS THERE ARE PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET.  THERE IS ONLY ONE MOON AND THAT IN ITSELF MAKES THE MOON SPECIAL AND BEAUTIFUL.  NEXT TIME YOU LOOK AT THE SKY ON A CLEAR, MIDNIGHT BLUE SKY, REMEMBER THERE IS ONE UP THERE TWINKLING JUST FOR YOU.  WE ARE ALL STARS AND PART OF LIVING ON THIS PLANET IS FIGURING OUT WHO WE ARE AND WHAT MAKES US SHINE.

EXCEPTIONALISM

What is the difference between being a great person and being an exceptional one?  If one can measure exceptionalism, how much more distance do we have to go to achieve exceptionalism?

Before I give my thoughts on this question, I would first like to see what the actual definition in our Webster Dictionary is for exceptionalism.

Exceptionalism-1.  The condition of being different than the norm  2.  Unusual, not typical.  Unusually good;  outstanding.

Daily Wisdom Word Definition for exceptionalism-Those persons or things that stand out above others, because they shine with beauty in one form or another.

My definition for exceptionalism is different than the Webster Dictionary this time much more than most times.  First of all I don’t believe any of us are ever really “normal”.  For normal to be a definition for human beings when each of us is different more than alike, as we are made to be one of a kind by God, is hard for me to accept.

It is true we should look at our likenesses overall with others, rather than our differences, but we should also know that there is more to being human than our likenesses.  Each of us, each and every one of us has something that makes us exceptional.  Whether or not we choose to develop this is up to us, but I believe in my heart there is still something naturally exceptional we don’t have to work at to be exceptional.   We were born with this one special quality, and this is the very exception when we should focus on our difference from others.

Exceptionalism can be developed in many areas for all of us.  I still however, believe there is something we are born with God gave us we simply “just have been gifted with”.  Exceptionalism is defined as above normal according to the Webster Dictionary, but I would like just one of us to define normalcy when we are all different in one form or another.

The above is my definition of exceptionalism.  I think something that truly makes us exceptional is when we can see the “shine within another.”   I define this by being able to see specifically or at least come close to knowing what makes another person exceptional, after you figure out within you what makes yourself so.

There are those “movie stars, and pro-ball players, and Stars of many kinds, but when you have depth, that exceptionalism of another, isn’t always easily defined, yet your exceptional simply by being able to see what this one particular quality is with another.  This quality is not something “developed”.  It is simply “just there”.

I also believe we are born with qualities we are very good at that we can develop into a different type of exceptionalism so I separate the one natural quality God gives us that makes us exceptional and different than those we have to work at starting with simply being very good at something.

If anything you have read here today, registers, or feels right in some way, I want you to focus on it, because the one quality that naturally makes us exceptional is the “one difference” we don’t have to work at, and we need to be able to define it within ourselves.  This is when it is necessary to have faith and strength, because some of us have to work harder at figuring out what this God-given quality is.

Knowing what makes us exceptional, allows us to help others because we are very clear on what this quality is, and can utilize it to help others.  I feel happy in this moment, writing this, because perhaps, maybe just maybe, this very thing I am writing right now, is what makes me exceptional.  We should be grateful for whatever this quality is that makes us naturally exceptional  and use use it to serve others, and expand ourselves as individuals.

When you are feeling down inside, always keep your shininess clear within your mind, so you can remind yourself of this.  This will not be the quality you have to work at:  It will be so natural, it is simply what makes you truly “special”.
