“Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude.”
In a previous post I had talked about the importance of being patient and how what’s meant to be yours will eventually come to you even if it’s later than expected.
In this post, I’d like to follow up on the same topic but a different element of it; the transition period between waiting and finally achieving what you want.
It’s not just patience that’s important. Along with it, an optimistic attitude is important as well.
The two emotions help each other grow exponentially. If being patient is making you feel miserable, sometimes to the point of just giving up, then it doesn’t serve the purpose.
But if you amalgamate patience with the overall reassurance that things will get better, your growth can be substantially bigger both psychologically as well as circumstantially.
There are a number of techniques to achieve this amalgamation but this is what works for me personally:
Don’t obsess over what you’re waiting for. To be clear, I’m not implying to stop working towards your goal. But don’t let it consume you to the point where it makes you negligent in other areas of your life. Take a breather once in a while.
That will refresh your mind and keep you from getting morose if what you’re looking for seems particularly far away.
Patience is often like a plant. By itself, it could die prematurely. Always water it with optimism.
