Going through Pain by Abuh Monday Eneojo

In the hot planes of the garden City in Nigeria. My father summoned a local bone specialist to our apartment after discovering that my steps was wierd. He didn’t inform me before her arrival because to him I would probably run away because I was scared and the pain I was expecting will set in immediately.

She tried to rotate my leg like the hands of a clock as I, on the other hand, tried not to fart, but she couldn’t. So, she brought out a sharp blade of which she used to create incisions on my knee. She did this because she felt I had some bad blood. Like I said earlier, she is a local bone specialist.

This woman thought I was numb; that I could not feel anything as she pierced my leg with that sharp blade. I felt it, every contact.

The heat, pain, gripped my heart when she forced my almost stiff leg against her thighs. I groaned and My father cried. With sincerity in the tears that gushed from his almost wrinkled but still young face he held my hands so I will not disrupt the process. He said, “Don’t worry. You’ll be fine.”

The tears and words took me to a place that made me smile as I endured the pain to gain solace.

Pain is relative. It is what we all must face. It comes in various ways: break-up, sickness, accident etc. Some times, we’re the missive to pain- to ourselves and others.

If anyone tells you he/she can take away pain. Just smile and give a yes nod.

If they tell you not to worry. Just smile. Let your cheek join the pain race. I can not take away your pain but I can tell you I LOVE AND NEED YOU. Hold that sentence and smile. You’ll me find you without pain there.

Come! Hold my hands…We can do this together! Don’t worry you’ll be fine…
