MEN DON’T CRY…DO THEY? (REVISED)

“Have a good cry, wash out your heart. If you keep it inside it’ll tear you apart.”
-Sometimes You Win (1979) by Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show

Sometimes it’s discouraged, sometimes you’re pushed to let it out. But if you’re a male who grew up in the twentieth century, you were most likely told not to do it, especially in public.

I’m talking about crying.

MINDFULNESS REBOOT

“Mindfulness isn’t difficult. We just need to remember to do it.”
-Sharon Saltzberg

In previous articles, I’ve discussed how a state of mindfulness is not just a mental or psychological exercise. Done properly, it can also have a number of physical benefits as well.

After writing that article, I got a couple of questions asking how exactly one would get started if they’ve never done so before. It’s my hope that this article answers some of those questions and serves as a basic introduction to a mindfulness reboot; or starting mindfulness with a clean slate.

EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE – (REVISED)

“You will find that it is necessary to let things go; simply for the reason that they are heavy.”
-C. Joybell

Nearly a year ago, I had written an article on getting rid of emotional baggage.

At the beginning of the year, I made a goal that on my birthday, I would do my best let go of any negativity. In essence, I thought of letting my mind start with a clean slate.

THE MIDDLE GROUND

“Life is never white and black and all or nothing; it is full of greys and the rainbows and all the other in-betweens.”
-McKel (Hill) Kooienga

As I type this, it’s been a few
hours since President Joe Biden was officially sworn in.

At the stage our country (and quite frankly, the world as well) is in, there have been polarizing views everywhere. It seems as if everyone has lost the ability to envision a middle ground.

HEART’S

OUR DAILY WISDOM WORD TODAY IS: HEART’S. WHY AM I CHOOSING THIS WORD?  I MUST SAY OUR WORLD IS IN GREAT NEED OF HEART’S AND THEIR INTER-CONNECTION WITH ANOTHER’S.  WE HAVE PLENTY OF GREAT MINDS, AND STONG OPINIONS IN THE MIX WORKING OVERTIME.   WHERE HAVE OUR HEART’S GONE? DURING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON, SHOULDN’T HEARTS BE IMPORTANT LEADING WITH LOVE?

When we use our heart we have a vision that is completely different than when we use our minds.  We are in the Holiday Season. Sadly, most of us can’t even see our friends and family due to our current pandemic situation. If you would had asked the scientists fighting so very hard to develop a vaccine for this deadly virus just one year ago not impacting any of us, would they say they used their heart or mind?  My guess would be heart first, intelligence next.  They had  to be using more heart than vision and mind. It took plenty of intelligence but it was working from their hearts they found the energy, strength, compassion and view of its importance for all of mankind.

We were full of hope and optimism without the knowledge of a virus that would cause millions to get sick, and many die this year during the holiday season just one year ago!  We need our heart’s now more than ever.  A heart is where our passion and love, compassion and empathy come from. I would think in many of the cases we have seen added into death tolls and people sick, we would see more hearts giving much more love.  Instead we only see more division.  I don’t like to bring politics into any mix but I will say I don’t believe the leader of the United States of America is operating out of heart currently.  He is operating out of a sheer inability to accept defeat and loss.   I am one who doesn’t accept defeat easily myself, so I do understand to a degree, but then again, I don’t represent my country.

The best we can do or be is to “be the example through our actions we wish to set for others”.  It is what we do when we raise our children or the best we can hope to do.  Having and operating with heart means putting love ahead of loss and defeat;  not so much self-love but a genuine love and compassion for others.   Do you think we need more great minds in the mix right now, or “heart’s beating and feeling?”  I know what my answer is and hope this holiday season whether you agree with your neighbor’s opinion or not, you will operate first and foremost with your heart.  What does our heart do?  Our heart loves, full of compassion and empathy full and does every action first, from a position of love.

When was the last time you asked yourself how you were feeling or checked your heartbeat?  Is it strong and sound, placing love above all else or is it operating behind your opinion leaving you filled with division from some and unity with only those who agree with you?  It is time to get it together, people. It is not just you, but me.

I am just as guilty placing opinion before heart, deciding who and what I will discuss and why I feel so strongly about my opinions.  In the end, if today were my last day on earth and it was my day for judgement to be passed to me, would I be more concerned with a healthy heart or a healthy opinion?  It is not from “sheer intelligence” these scientists came up with a vaccine what is at the very least a miracle to this deadly virus.  They wanted first and foremost to save lives.

This energy and passion did not come from their minds although of course their intelligence played second to having heart displayed in all their actions.  They did what they did out of the goodness of their heart first and foremost doing without sleep, working day and night, in the fight to save human lives.  Do you think their strength came from their mind or from their HEARTS?   Just for fun, we will take a look at the definition of hearts in our Webster Dictionary.

Webster Definition of hearts-1. Heart’s-something someone wants very much.  2.  The central or innermost part of something.  a hollow muscular organ that pumps the blood through the circulatory system by rhythmic contraction and dilation.

Daily Wisdom Word Definition-1.  The heart is the center of physical and spiritual being, and is filled with love, passion and blood or the process it takes to circulate blood or emotions such as love and passion.  This is why it has four chambers in a human.  1.  love 2.  passion 3.  hope  4.  capacity of empathy and compassion.  PLEASE EVERYONE, PULL TOGETHER THIS HOLIDAY SEASON IN HEART EVEN IF YOU CAN’T IN DISTANCE.  REMEMBER EVERYTHING HAS A BEGINNING AND END.  LET YOUR ENDING BE REMEMBERED AS A PERSON WHO HAD HEART AND PASSION IN EVERYTHING THEY FELT WITH AND THEIR ACTIONS TOWARDS OTHERS.  HAPPY HEART-I-DAYS, OR HOLIDAYS.

DNRS – PART 2 – ORIGIN & HOW IT WORKS

“There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.”
-William Shakespeare

In my previous articles, I had given a brief introduction to Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS). I had talked about what exactly DNRS is and what kind of illnesses it is used to treat, both mental as well as physical.

But how exactly does it work and how does one get into it? I should make a disclaimer here and point out that much of this information I talk about in this particular article is compiled from various interviews given by Annie Hopper, the founder DNRS.

SUSPICION

TODAY’S DAILY WISDOM WORD WILL BE SUSPICION.  RIGHT NOW, I FIND MYSELF FEELING DISTRUST AND SUSPICION, EVEN ANGER BECAUSE OF THE HORRIFIC.  I FEEL SUSPICION ABOUT KNOWLEDGE WE ARE RECEIVING.  I FIND MYSELF WATCHING THE HISTORY CHANNEL AND HEARING ABOUT STORIES OF THE PAST AND WISHING I COULD EITHER GO “BACK IN TIME, OR FORWARD”, IN A TIME WHEN I FELT TRUST OR A NEW TIME IN THE FUTURE IN WHICH I HOPE TO FEEL TRUST AGAIN WITHOUT FEELING SUSPICIOUS.  I FIND MYSELF DOUBTING OUR PRESIDENT, WITH HIM ON ONE SIDE PROVIDING INFORMATION WHICH IS NOT HONEST ACCORDING TO THE MEDIA.

WITH SO MUCH STILL UNKNOWN ABOUT COVID-19, WHO HONESTLY KNOWS WHAT THE PROPER AMOUNTS OF PROPER MASKS WORN ACCORDING TO PROTOCOL IS?  IS IT TRUE WE WERE WARNED ABOUT A PANDEMIC MANY MONTHS AGO?   I DO NOT REMEMBER HEARING THESE WARNINGS ON THE NEWS FOR FEAR OF SCARING THE PUBLIC.  WITHOUT VALIDATION FROM A “TRUSTED PRESIDENT” WHO I PERSONALLY FEEL LIES MORE OFTEN THEN TELLS THE TRUTH, WHAT CAN WE ALL BELIEVE?  EVEN IF YOUR A SUPPORTER OF THE PRESIDENT, MOST STILL FEEL HE IS CAPABLE OF EXAGGERATION.  IT, FOR LACK OF BETTER WORDS IS TERRIFYING.  IT IS SAD WHEN I FEAR THE NEXT TIME IT WILL BE SAFE TO SEE MY DAUGHTER, SON-IN-LAW, AND GRANDCHILD WILL BE.  NOT ONLY DO THEY LIVE OUT OF STATE, BUT WHEN WILL IT BE SAFE TO CONSIDER FLYING AGAIN?

TODAY ON THE NEWS I HEARD, WITH SO MANY PEOPLE NOT ABLE TO WEAR THE APPROPRIATE MASKS FOR THIS ILLNESS PROPERLY,  EVEN THEY WILL NOT WORK UNLESS PLACED OVER THE MOUTH APPROPRIATELY.  SUSPICIONS ARE EVERYWHERE AND MOST ARE GOING TO BE OVER-HYPED OR BASED ON THEORIES NOT PROVEN YET, IS WHAT I HAVE FINALLY RESIGNED MYSELF INTO THINKING.

LET US TAKE A LOOK AT THE DEFINITION OF SUSPICION, THE WEBSTER DEFINITION AND THE DAILY WISDOM WORDS DEFINITION.

WEBSTER DEFINITION OF SUSPICION-1.  A FEELING OR THOUGHT THAT SOMETHING IS POSSIBLE, LIKELY OR TRUE.  2.  A FEELING OR BELIEF THAT SOMEONE IS GUILTY OF AN ILLEGAL, DISHONEST OR UNPLEASANT ACTION.

DAILY WISDOM WORDS DEFINITION OF SUSPICION-FEELING WE GET WHEN WE SUSPECT SOMEONE OR SOMETHING IS BEING DISHONEST ABOUT A SITUATION.

SUSPICIONS IN A TIME LIKE THIS ARE NOT NEEDED.  WE HAVE ENOUGH EVIDENCE PRESENTING ITSELF IN OUR OWN REALITY IN THE YEAR 2018.  I LEAVE YOU WITH THIS:  DO YOUR VERY BEST TO OPERATE OFF OF FACTS ONLY.  A TRAIL OF SUSPICIONS NO MATTER HOW LIKELY THEY ARE TO BE THE TRUTH, IS TOO MUCH SPECULATION ON TODAY WITH TODAY’S FACTS.

If tomorrow never comes by Garth Brooks

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rid5sE93axA

Lyrics:

Sometimes late at night
I lie awake and watch her sleeping
She’s lost in peaceful dreams
So I turn out the lights and lay there in the dark
And the thought crosses my mind
If I never wake up in the morning
Would she ever doubt
The way I feel about her in my heart

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she’s my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face this world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

‘Cause I’ve lost loved ones in my life
Who never knew how much I loved them
Now I live with the regret
That my true feelings for them never were revealed
So I made a promise to myself
To say each day how much she means to me
And avoid that circumstance
Where there’s no second chance to tell her how I feel

‘Cause if tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she’s my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face this world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

So tell that someone that you love
Just what you’re thinking of
If tomorrow never comes

Broken Hearts

“The heart will break but broken lives on.”

-Lord Byron

We all go through a broken heart at some point in our lives because grief is inevitable in humanity.

What a lot of people seem to forget is that biologically, the heart is a muscle much like biceps and calves.

You work it out by being happy and at some point, it breaks. But just like sore muscles, it can grow back even stronger.

Obviously, there is some difference as working your heart out doesn’t require weights, it requires emotions and feelings.

That said, if we approach our broken hearts with the same philosophy, our outlook will be much better.

Heartbreak will leave you with sore emotions just like a sore body after a rigorous workout.

But at some point, it’ll restore itself. Only this time, with confidence instead of a protein shake.

AMBIVALENCE

What does ambivalence mean and how does it play a role in our lives?  Let us first take a look at the meaning of ambivalence in our Webster Dictionary.

Ambivalence-1.  the state of having mixed feelings of contradictory ideas about something or someone.

Daily Wisdom Word Definition for ambivalence-1.  the double side of feelings we have when we have contrary feelings about someone, such as deciding if we like or don’t like someone.

Ambivalence is tough.  We usually feel torn when were experiencing ambivalence and when it is about a person, we are usually getting mixed messages from them to cause this ambivalence.  It is as if we are stuck in limbo seeing both sides of who they are, and we can’t decide how we really feel about them.

I am experiencing feelings of ambivalence about someone in my life as I write this.  I see all of these talents she has as an individual and truly admire her for them.  I also see choices she makes that I don’t think I would choose if I was walking in her shoes.  Of course, we can never judge someone’s choices, but we usually hold opinions about whether we agree with them or not.

She is such an awesome person, but I have caught her in a few lies here and there which makes me doubt the integrity of her character.  She may not be telling these lies deliberately, but simply forgets the honest answers when I ask her the questions.  All I know is I see parts of her character that I love, and parts that I don’t causing ambivalence with myself in deciding whether or not I want to get closer to her.

She is such a good parent, and a good friend.  I also have a friend that is friends with her as well, and constantly planting doubts in my head about who she really is.

Ambivalence can be confusing, and we must have faith that ultimately we will not remain on the fence about someone or something.  We will eventually have the supporting evidence to prove our opinion, one way or the other.

Thank you for reading about ambivalence today.  Please sign up for Daily Wisdom Words while it is free to do so, and leave a comment, quote or poem beneath this article in the “join the discussion box”‘ . Have a beautiful and blessed day.
