  1. Momma uttered the word “poetess”
    And I was deeply sunk,
    All in.
    Carried away by rhyming words.
Morphed into mamma’s little word nerd.
But momma didn’t tell me about the pain.
    The rejection.
    The real brain strain.
    The study.
The cold nights writing with one buddy,
The people looking like I’m real nutty.
Momma didn’t tell me about the pain,
About the long nights listening to God’s rain
Pounding out a verse or two or three,
But poetry sets my soul Scott free
To be authentically and completely , imperfectly me.

  2. Mamma mamma said
    What she use to say
Today the day you’ll find a way
    You’ll find love someday
My mamma said no, no not that way
Now let me have my say
You said you can’t hurry love
    No, no not that way
But how long do I try
But how long do I wait
    Is loneliness my fate

    • I hope it’s not his fate or your fate Monday. I didn’t marry until gray headed and sixty three. Where there is life and love, there is Hope from God up above.????
