Poetry Contest Winner David Lee

David Lee, Our Winner of the Poetry Contest that officially ended on 10/1/18.  He is the Winner of Daily Wisdom Words first Poetry Contest with his poem titled, “Rubble Rebels”.  David, lives with his family in Terrehaute, Indiana and is not new to writing.  However, as he says in his twitter profile, “ for his midlife crisis, rather than get a sports car, he got himself a notebook and began writing Poetry.  

It has obviously paid off for him with his winning poem, Rubble Rebels

Rubble Rebels

Bleach Blonde hair and a magazine

Lived her life near a movie screen

Looking through the rubble for a rebel that wasn’t there

Looking with a heart that couldn’t care

Now I see what’s left of me

Now I see what’s come to be

Left with dreams that crumble down

Living life from underground

The thoughts of you drift away

The warmth of you couldn’t stay

Clutching to a dream that never was

Clutching to the thought of us

The loneliness of endless doubt

The question of what I’m all about

Walking through this self-imposed exile

Walking cold and as if I’m on trial

Broken, battered and left for dead

If only you’d have done all you said

But now I’m waking up to whats left inside of me

Now I open my eyes and see the dream

You were always looking for something that wasn’t there

My dreams were tossed aside without a care

Now I rise up to a new day

I rise up and will not stay
