SOMEONE YOU LOVED BY LEWIS CAPALDI

LYRICS
I’m going under and this time I fear there’s no one to save me This all or nothing really got a way of driving me crazy I need somebody to heal Somebody to know Somebody to have Somebody to hold It’s easy to say But it’s never the same I guess I kinda liked the way you numbed all the pain
Now the day bleeds Into nightfall And you’re not here To get me through it all I let my guard down And then you pulled the rug I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved
I’m going under and this time I fear there’s no one to turn to This all or nothing way of loving got me sleeping without you Now, I need somebody to know Somebody to heal Somebody to have Just to know how it feels It’s easy to say but it’s never the same I guess I kinda liked the way you helped me escape
Now the day bleeds Into nightfall And you’re not here To get me through it all I let my guard down And then you pulled the rug I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved
And I tend to close my eyes when it hurts sometimes I fall into your arms I’ll be safe in your sound ’til I come back around
For now the day bleeds Into nightfall And you’re not here To get me through it all I let my guard down And then you pulled the rug I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved
But now the day bleeds Into nightfall And you’re not here To get me through it all I let my guard down And then you pulled the rug I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved
I let my guard down And then you pulled the rug I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved

The cafe I am at is playing an old Norah Jones album, the same one we used to listen to on repeat as we stared into each other’s eyes and whispered plans that never came to pass, only it’s interrupted with the employee’s sounds of work: taking orders, making coffee, washing dishes, cleaning, prepping, blending sometimes, drowning out the sultry sounds and their accompanying memories altogether, but soon the noise fades out, the music resumes, and there I am again, pressed up against the wall beside you on a single bed, trying not to crowd you and make myself less welcome from half a world away.

I THINK THE ANSWER IS NO

My heart, a forest of
fully dressed trees
with dry leaves that
now refutes the
tune of gentle breeze.
You’re not here to see
or feel how much I yearn
for those words of yours
that water me wonderfully.
You may want to come
back when you see this
but I’d rather stick to this pain.

Why do I need to be saved
I’m going under
it’s where I want to be
rugged pull of
…silent laughter
no longer loved
can’t remember who I’ve been
through it all
a twilight disaster bleeding
ephemeral emotions blue
and safe sounds echo
a heart dying
whispering. “You’re not here”
waters still me
a breath… held

Do you know you can actually turn this to a spoken word poem? That way, we get to feel every bit of what you want to share. What do you think? Good?

I may actually do that one day, plus I love listening to spoken word poems. It makes my heart stand at attention. Thank you, Abuh. You made me smile. xx

I let you in
I lowered my guard
You swept me off my feet
And I fell hard
You’re love was too much
Took me outta my comfort zone
Then with a blink of an eye
You were gone
Now I’m drowning
In a sea of despair
& theres no one to save me
Theres no one to care

You know, there are times I ask myself why things true never stand the test of time when you want them to.
Thank you for bringing my attention to that question.
Nice write Kattt 👍

Clouds of dust blind
my weary eyes
happy days seem
so out of sight
you’ve been gone away too long
scorching are the days
memories of you ablaze
leaving me here in the
unquiet thoughts of seasons
i want to be loved
beyond reason
where chances n hope prism.

I think that it is the utmost desire of every lover to be loved unconditionally as you’ve stated poetically in your poem. But, it just so happens that these expectations do not suffice. Hence, the need for doubt and other negative vices that plagues love.
I love the poem Michelle…it is lovely and speaks the heart of many. Bravooooooo my friend.👏👏👏👏💞✍️👍🇳🇬

Why does my light flee
when you look away
remembering such treasures
I got used to yours.

Embracing like minds
we saved ourselves each day
until I lost my way
alone without you.

You took my mind away
leaving only astonishment
as treasuring beautiful souls
I’m lost without yours.

Punchy diction my friend. I tell you the truth, I giggled immediately I read the first line. I giggled cos of the rhetorical question as the rhetoric.
Let me tell you something quickly, I love love the way you made the mind look like something that can be possessed by another. By possession I mean ‘carried’. You gave the mind, an abstract item, a body. Bravooooooo 👏✍️👏

Always I’ve loved someone
They always drew me in
They always teased me
For I wanted love
Was I groomed by beauty
They led me in
A soft touch, doughy eyes
The smile, her smell
Telling me they loved me
A woman can’t admit what’s in her heart
