  1. For all the friends
    who made a day complete,
though we may not be together,
you’re still a part of me.

You’re in the light of memories,
    when dark would threaten hope.
When all seems to be in despair,
it’s back to each of you time goes…

Back to your heart with grace,
    back to the love-filled days,
I wasn’t alone because of you,
    all because of you,
    and I have to say,
    thanks for you
    today.

  2. Met my old love in a shopping aisle
Ten years had come and gone
    My high school sweetheart,
He was famous now his first hit song

    He was just as charismatic
I dropped my groceries, canned goods,
    He still had magmatism
I always wondered if her would

We stood talking as I checked out
he asked if I wanted to get a drink
I agreed just to catch up i told myself
the bar was closed because of Christmas Eve

We ended up getting a six pack of beer
talked of memories from the past..
    Time passed so quickly,
    Every second ticked by fast

    Snowflakes fell off the car,
    Romantic with Christmas lights
‘We talk of love and innocence
    How silly were our fights

I asked if he was happy,
He loved his music, not the trips
He said no time for a relationship
    His career demanding never quit

    He said if anything,
I was more beautiful than when in school
I felt my cheeks go red not from the cold
He smiled but was no fool.

He said he’d heard I’d married,
an architect who did commercial design
he asked if I was happy, I couldn’t lie
I told him I felt love, no passion I could find

He said he sometimes felt lonely,
    His lovely eyes looked empty
He mentioned he found passion in his music
no choice for him but be free.

I looked to see the light of dawn,
    begin to fill the sky,
i shared I must be getting home
    we kissed and saying goodbye.

As I walked to my car,
I couldn’t help but feel blue
The love we shared remained in time,
I wondered if he felt old lang syne too.

    If only things were different,
    i kept thinking driving home,
A snowflake fell from my coat,
I knew we’d followed different paths alone.

  3. Lost myself as snow fell
    your eyes beaming inside me
    all our storms weathered
    now frozen memories.

    Another year has left us
    mirroring our steps here
    I’m scared you cried
    and then you were gone.

    You never said goodbye
as fire and ice made us
    so our tears remember
    when love found us.

  4. I caught you
    moonlight beaming
    resplendent in
    winter’s first snowfall
    dawn streaked
    your succulent lips
    love stirred unhurried
    a gasp in the breeze
    the wind howled
    a silent vow
    enthused from an echo
    there i stand
    wrapped in the sepia glow
of a smile i used to know.
