ASPIRATIONS

Our Daily Wisdom Word today is Aspirations.  We all have our hopes, dreams, and .  Aspirations those things we hope to achieve.  They can even be things that are not realistic.  Aspirations are not necessarily realistic goals.  They are simply things we would like to achieve whether realistic or not.  they can be goals, but unlike goals, we have them no matter how unrealistic they are.

Before going any further, let us take a look at the meaning of aspirations in the Webster Dictionary and our Daily Wisdom Word Meaning.

Webster Definition of Aspirations-1. A hope or ambition of achieving something.  2.  The object of ones hope or ambition;  a goal

Daily Wisdom Word Definition of Aspirations-A dream one wishes would be turned into reality.  An idea or goal

Aspirations, like goals are things you wish to happen;  however, aspirations have not had a plan put together yet to achieve them.  There is no timeline to an aspiration.  Another way to describe this is that an aspiration is a hope with ambition.   A goal is a hope with a plan and timeline that you’ve laid out to achieve it.  

I think the biggest aspiration I have ever had was to be a psychiatrist.  However, I had no long term plan to achieve this.  When I set goals, even if the light is far, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel because I have a game plan on how I will get there.  An aspiration is a kind of goal without a map or stop watch.  If you wish an aspiration to become a reality, you must set in motion a specific plan and timeline.  There must be a visual capture to achieve this goal, or it is just a dream or aspiration.  

Aspirations are those things we daydream about.  An example of many of us who have a common aspiration is to become famous.  No, we don’t have a plan, but we sure would enjoy it happening for us.  See the difference in the words I am using?  They are vague and there is no definite plan I have put into place.  

Aspirations are so much like goals, I felt it necessary to cover the definition before moving on from setting goals, and how to get there.

CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

ARE YOU IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRTI?  WHY, STARTING WITH THANKSGIVING AND ON, DOES IT SEEM MOST OF US, WE GET LIGHT HEARTED, KIND, AND A LITTLE MORE GENEROUS?  WE ALL SEE M TO HAVE BETTER DISPOSITION, ARE MORE PATIENT AND SOFT-HEARTED.  THERE IS A SOFTNESS ABOUT US AND THE SPIRIT OF GIVING THAT SEEMS TO STRIKE THE MAJORITY OF US AS A WHOLE.  WHEN WE ARE ALONE DURING THE HOLIDAYS, IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT BECAUSE OF SOMETHING CALLED SYNERGY.  WE TEND TO TAKE ON CERTAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF OTHERS WE ARE AROUND.  IN A WORLD WHERE MOST OF US CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS, IT IS RATHER HARD FOR OUR OWN SPIRIT NOT TO SHIFT.  

THE BIBLE DOES NOT GIVE US THE EXACT DATE OF JESUS’S BIRTHDAY.  SINCE DECEMBER IS ABOUT THE SPIRIT OF GIVING OF YOURSELF OR GIFTS OR BOTH, WE ARE REMINDED OF WHO WE SHOULD BE AS A PERSON.  I LIKE TO COMPARE THE GIVING AT CHRISTMAS TIME TO THE GENEROSITY OF THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL:  JESUS.  IF THERE EVER WAS A TIME WHEN SOULS ARE MOVED, AND ATTITUDE SHIFTS, IT IS AROUND CHRISTMAS TIME.  I THINK JUST AS WITH HAVING A GIRLFRIEND OR BOYFRIEND, VERSES BEING MARRIED, THE HOLY GHOST IS WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE.  

WE OF COURSE HAVE ENCOURAGEMENT OF THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT THROUGH FAMILY TRADITIONS SUCH AS BAKING COOKIES, SANTA CLAUS, CHRISTMAS LIGHTS, AND YES, DONATIONS TO CHARITIES ALWAYS RISE AROUND CHRISTMAS TIME. ” GOOD WILL AND PEACE ON EARTH,”  IS PART OF THE MOST FAMOUS CHRISTMAS CAROLS OF ALL TIME, “JOY TO THE WORLD.”

WE WILL TALK MORE ABOUT CHRISTMAS CAROLS AS WE CONTINUE TO THE NEXT 9 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS.  I WOULD LIKE TO TALK ABOUT “BELIEVING IN THE UNSEEN.”  I AM NOT TRYING TO SHIFT ANYONE’S BELIEFS IN ANY WAY.  I CONSIDER MYSELF TO BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE’S STORY ABOUT THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST.  I THNK, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE A BIBLE, I HAVE NIGGLING DOUBTS ABOUT MY OWN BELIEFS.  OVERALL THOUGH, I THINK ABOUT THE TIMES THAT I SHOULD NO LONGER BE ON EARTH AND DO BELIEVE GOD AND JESUS WATCH OVER ME.

I BELIEVE THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT HAS TO DO WITH “BELIEVING” MORE THAN ANYTHING.  I THINK WHEN WE WONDER, WHICH, IF WE ARE HONEST, MOST OF US HAVE, WE SHOULD ASK OURSELVES IF WE BELIEVE IN “LOVE”.  WE HAVE NO PROOF LOVE EXISTS, AND IT IS THE SAME WITH FAITH.  I HAVE ALWAYS BELIEVED THAT “GOD” IS TOO POWERFUL FOR US TO UNDERSTAND HIM.  I BELIEVE HE GAVE HIS OWN SON UP SO THAT HE MAY GIVE US A CONDUIT CONNECTED TO HIM WE CAN RELATE TO.  THERE ARE MANY HISTORICAL EVENTS TO PROVE OF HIS LIFE.  THIS IS WHAT MAKES CHRISTMAS SPIRIT TRULY “ALIVE IN OUR HEARTS”.

PRAYER VS. HOPE

In a previous post, I had explored whether having faith has to equate to being religious. In it, I came away with the conclusion that while the two are often correlated, the correlation is not mandatory.

HORIZONS

What is a horizon?  This post will show why we should focus on the positive when things are at their worst.  There is always a new horizon around the corner, if we are willing to turn that corner.  Let’s face it.  It is the holiday season, and during it, suicide rates skyrocket astronomically.  This is because many people are alone during the holidays, and there is a sentimental mood to everything.  With Christmas music, Baking with family, and family traditions, along with Jesus Christ’s Birthday, there is a lot to feel happy or sad about depending on where your at in life.  However, when we are alone, it makes it much more difficult to enjoy these things, and most of us don’t partake in them alone.  Before we go any further with horizons, let’s take a look at their meaning in our Webster Dictionary.  

Horizons-1.  Range of perception or experience.

Daily Wisdom Words Definition-1.  Our perception of the future, which we can choose.  We can be hopeful, or dread it, but there will certainly be change.

When we feel lonely and sad, it is difficult to think of anything past that moment.  Sometimes, I will get depressed, and don’t believe in a future, although logically I know there is one.  I seem to be set on my current depression, and it is hard to see any new horizon for me.  My daughter and I will have had a falling out, and this will radically affect my mood.  A new horizon or dawn seems impossible to believe in.  However, with every valley there is a peak and that peak is a new horizon.

The holidays with their financial burden alone, can be scary.  Many of us think, including myself, that gifts are part of Christmas and it is a time for giving.  People on a positive note tend to pick up on the holiday spirit, and this in itself, helps them to find hope in new horizons.  We must realize that hope and change are a part of life, just as sadness and hopelessness are.  There is always a silver and even gold lining to cloudy days.  Let’s not forget the lovely rainbow after it storms.  This is life, as well.

DIVINITY

What does divinity mean and how does it inspire hope  and faith when its lacking in our lives with a higher power or who I call, “God”?  If you’re feeling discouraged or depressed or lonely, for any reason, this daily wisdom word, DIVINITY, will be a very positive article to read. 

Before we go any further, let us take a look at the meaning of divinity in our Webster Dictionary and how daily wisdom words defines it.

Webster Definition of Divinity-1.  of, from or like God.  Devotion to God;  Sacred.  2.  providence of God.

Daily Wisdom Word Definition of Divinity-The ability to have faith in what is divine.  To myself, this would be God. 

Daily Wisdom Words, is not a Christian post.  However, It is a spiritual one.  I myself, am Christian and am not ashamed to admit it.  In fact, I am proud of it, but I also believe we have no right to force others to have the same kind of faith as we do.  I also believe we all need to have faith in something.  Life catches us at many different crossroads. 

Sometimes, things are going great in our lives.  We just got the perfect job, we have found love, and we are at a good place mentally.  However there are the sad times in life, too. This is when faith is so important in our life.  Without faith,and divinity, we would have a very hard time believing that we could get through these bad times.  Divinity is defined as “Of God.”   

Divinity and Hope help us to understand life will get better when we are struggling.  We will struggle, fall, scratch ourselves, have our hearts broken, go through financial hardship, physical pain and mental anguish at some point in our lives.  All of those hard, difficult times will also develop strength and character from the lessons we will learn from these times.  The beauty of divinity and faith, is having not only yourself to lean on, during the difficult times, but God, as well.  God is a best friend. You may refer to God as your higher power, or Allah, and He is just another tool in our “tool box for life”.

You may be reading this post at the very time you need it.  I believe, just as we will suffer those bad times, the more faith and divinity we have, the faster we will get back to a good place or recover from the hard times. When we have gone without something we need or had love when we need it, we have felt loneliness.  When our hearts get broken, we feel  we are lonely because we loved another human being.  Being a person with divinity, will not guarantee you will return to, for example, being rich, if that is what you’ve lost or if you will find love again.  What faith and divinity do guarantee is you will make it through the bad times, and that new doors will open.  If you are at a healthy place with yourself, your far more likely to find new love, a new job, or more fulfilling thing in your life than you had before. 

We all have “expectations” of what our life will and should be like. If we have faith and believe in Divinity, we come to the realization that what our plans are for our lives may not be God’s.  That does NOT mean that it won’t be as happy or happier with how life turns out as you look back on it. 

Even if we could draw out our “perfect life”, we would want to have strong instincts and intuition to guide us to let us know what direction to go.  I believe that “inner voice and feeling” we have when we are using these two gifts are gifts given to us from God. 

If you’re an atheist (Don’t believe in God) or agnostic, (aren’t sure what you believe yet), You may still find value in this post on divinity. Perhaps it may leave you with questions about your own beliefs, or lead you to a place that makes you ask questions you still don’t have the answers for.  It is never a mistake to ask yourself questions and challenge yourself.  It is what helps us to grow.  Believing in divinity (of God) does make it easier to cope with life, because you have something bigger than yourself to believe in during the hard times.

SOLUTIONS

How do we find the right solutions to our problems?  Is there any ideal way to find the proper one?  There is certainly various ways to find the right solution to any problem however, this article will tell you some general pointers you can use when trying to find solutions to your issues and problems in my experience.

First, Let’s take a look at part of the meaning of solutions that applies to what I am writing about in our Webster Dictionary.

Solutions-1.  A means of solving a problem or dealing with a difficult situation.  2.  the correct answer to a puzzle.

Daily Wisdom Word Definition of Solutions-Finding the right answers for your particular situations that your challenged with and gaining a solution through various processes.

Some of us seem to have all the answers.  You wonder what makes this type of individual easily and comfortably have all the answers. IF you were to ask one of my friends or family if they need advice who they might turn to, I can say, I would probably be someone they would consider when looking for advice for problems, especially affairs of the heart.  However, when I am having my own problems, especially those that have to do with affairs of the heart, I can’t seem to come up with the answers so quickly.

Solutions come in all forms, but sometimes we may need advice from a friend, to help guide us with the right decision on how to solve a particular problem.  If you have a friend that can give you good advice, reach out to them.

Another way to solve a problem, that most people don’t take the time to do, is to clearly write the problem down.  Do a T cross on the paper, and under one side, list the pros of a potential decision, and on the other side, list the cons.  When your finished, look at the side with the most potential outcomes that would be positive for your problem and go with this for your decision.

One thing we must realize about solutions, is the answer to our problem is rarely perfect.  We must simply go with the best “possible” decision.

There are many other ways to solve a problem.  One thing you want to make sure of if you need a quick decision, your environment is private and quiet when you go to process it.  Take the proper time to meditate on potential solutions, and work from there.

The perfect decision for us depends on our particular circumstances, and only we know this.  Do your best to take the time to process.  second, use the T list I referred to above.  Third, make sure your environment is quiet and you have the time to make the best possible solution.  Fourth, if you still cannot come up with the best possible solution for you and the other party your responsible for, then talk to a friend or professional you trust.

CHAPTERS

What do I mean when I am talking about the chapters in our lives ?  First, let’s take a look at the meaning of chapters from the Webster Dictionary that apply to what I am referring to.

Chapters-a period of time or an episode in a person’s life , a nation’s history, ect.  2.  A series or sequence.  3.  A main division of a book, typically with a number or title.

Daily Wisdom Word Definition of Chapters-1.  Parts of our life that have an opening and a closing to them.  2.  Separations in life who’s meaning is of great importance which would bring us to a new point in life or new chapter.

The beginning or end of a period in one’s life are called chapter’s.  They may not often be referred to as chapters, but if you look at the definition of one, it truly means chapters.  For example, when I went through my divorce with Jay we had a beginning, middle and ending of our relationship resulting in one chapter in our life. Chapters are markers of when something big or important has gone on in our lives.

It can also mean moving from childhood, to our teenage years. These are definitely chapters in ones life, because we have passed a milestone in our lives, and it’s time to close this chapter and move on to a new chapter.  Chapters are marked events in one’s life such as a graduation from high school or college.  These chapters that pass, are the stepping stones to a new chapter in our lives.  There are new things that will happen as you close the book on one chapter and turn the page to another.

Chapters can also be written in our lives where there are not such dramatic events that have happened.  For instance let’s say your graduating from college and have been hired by a company before you graduate.  These chapters are not as extreme as the previous example of simply graduating not knowing what is to come.  Sometimes in life, we are actively writing chapters and sometimes in life, particularly when something happens in your life you have no preparation for, we are actively living chapters written by another Author such as God.

We can’t always be the author of the chapters in our lives, because we aren’t in full control of all the events that happen in our lives.

Hopefully, this has given you something to think about when life seems to be at a standstill.  There is always a chapter being written that we may not be aware of, and this is when our faith is often tested.  Remember, when life seems at standstill, you’re not in full control of events that happen, therefore, you aren’t always the writer in your own book.

I had a friend who wanted badly to be in a relationship and had lost faith that it would ever happen for her.  Amazingly, one night in this era of time for her, she went out country western dancing and met a wonderful man.  Even though she had children living with her from a previous marriage, this man and her fell in love, and everything fell right in place in a period of two weeks.  This was obviously a chapter my friend wanted to write, but it was taken out of her hands.  After all, how often is it that you meet someone and in a period of two weeks, know you want to spend the rest of your lives together?

Margaret, my friend, wrote the next few chapters in her life, along with her husband as they were married a month in their relationship.   They were given a gift, and took full advantage of it.

MIRACLES

Do you believe in miracles, and what exactly are they?  Let’s first take a look at their meaning in our Webster Dictionary.

Miracles-1.  A surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency.  2. A highly improbable or extraordinary event, development, or accomplishment that brings very welcome consequences.  3.  an amazing product or achievement, or an outstanding example of something.

Daily Wisdom Word Definition of Miracles-extraordinary events that cannot be explained by normal circumstances or events.

I believe in miracles, still.   I think when your a child, you have far less negative experiences experienced, and are still quite idealistic in your thinking.  This is why we can believe in Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, the Easter Bunny, ETC., and this is the kind of belief system you still have to have to believe in miracles.

Miracles happen every day.  However, it is our perception through our own negative visions that cause us not to see them.  Perhaps it is an extra day of life for someone that was supposed to have died long ago due to illness.  A miracle occurs when we make a conscious choice to believe in something bigger than ourselves such as the Lord.  You see, we cannot see, hear, touch or taste the Lord with our senses.  However, our conscience and soul and heart know he is there.  This is the kind of perception we need to believe in miracles.

Miracles are magic, but possible just the same.  It is your own insight that determines if you can believe in miracles.  Miracles are missed everyday as well.  Why? Because we overlook the little ones, refusing to calculate the scientific odds of a specific event that has happened.  This event has unrealistic odds at best.  Yet, it does happen in our lives.

Learn to believe in the unseen.  Miracles are created in the unseen, and witnessed and experienced in our world, after they are created. Learn to simply believe.
