Learning Tree – Daily Wisdom Words

In many of my previous posts, I’ve talked about how attaining perfection is impossible. This is primarily because I believe that perfection is highly subjective. By who’s standards is someone or something perfect? In this post, I want to expand a little on that topic.

Today's daily wisdom word is connections. Before going any further, let's take a look at the definitions for connections-A relationship in which a person, thing or idea in linked to someone else. Part of being a human being is forming connections. Fascinatingly enough, connections and bonds are the strongest when formed between ages 2 to 5 years old. Connections are a part of being a human beings. The connections that are the biggest part of us and our character, are those connections formed between the age of 2-5 years. These are a part of determining the sturdiness of one's character throughout the remaining years of childhood are those connections that determine whether we are mentally healthy or not. They are only one aspect of our character but a big part of who we are. You see, during these development years, many things form, but our connections, if healthy, should allow us as we get older, to walk away from unhealthy connections and remained connected to healthy ones, especially in our teenage years. These kind of connections are the friendships that last a lifetime, family connections that also last a lifetime, and learning to disconnect from all of the connections that are not healthy for us. I used to form unhealthy connections, a lot. However, as I've gotten older and the many years of counseling I've had to figure this out, I now form healthy connections. For example, I am now very close to my friend debbie who I have known for over 30 years. I used to keep my distance from her and wondered why, because she seemed eager to be friends and could of course walk away from unhealthy ones which would have been me at that time. I was an unhealthy connection for her, but she was not aware of this, as I was her assistant in New Home Sales so I kept it very professional. I moved on to another homebuilder, and she stayed with the company she had been with for an additional 15 years, and we eventually connected again. After years of therapy, I knew the kind of friends that were healthy, and she was one of them. We reconnected and have been very close ever since. Today's daily wisdom word, connections has many more avenues to it, but I don't have the time to write a book on it which is what this word calls for. I would recommend you take a look at the connections we have formed so we may choose if we need to, to reevaluate our connections and distance yourself from unhealthy connections.
