THE INFINITY OF KNOWLEDGE

โ€œOnce you stop learning, you start dying.โ€ -Albert Einstein
In many of my previous posts, I’ve talked about how attaining perfection is impossible. This is primarily because I believe that perfection is highly subjective. By who’s standards is someone or something perfect? In this post, I want to expand a little on that topic. If we accept that perfection is unattainable, then we must also remember that we can never, nor should we, ever stop learning. Whether it be pioneers in technology or in the corporate world or in literature, masters of their respective crafts have always agreed on one philosophy: that they became masters precisely because never stopped learning. On the flip side, there are also examples of individuals falling or companies shutting down because the people in charge rested on their laurels. The downfall of BlackBerry phones began precisely when the powers that be dismissed the idea of phones that could allow the user to surf the web, listen to music, watch movies, etc. In other words, they balked at the idea of what iPhones and Androids were offering for the near future. They believed that the BlackBerry phone was as technologically advanced as a phone could possibly be on a practical level. In 2000, Blockbuster video laughed at the idea of streaming platforms being the future of entertainment and turned down an offer to buy Netflix. Today, both BlackBerry phones and Blockbuster video are practically on life support while Apple, Google and Netflix continue to soar. By continuing to learn, not only do we keep moving forward in life but we also manage to keep our ego in check by admitting that we donโ€™t know everything there is to know. Because however well you know something, someone somewhere always knows more. Knowledge can also remedy stages of stagnancy. We all go through phases in which we ask ourselves, “What’s next?” But if we keep seeking knowledge and exploring new avenues, such thoughts never have a chance to burden us. So never stop exploring. Never kill your curiosity. Always seek further knowledge of something. As long as you do so, your fuel might become low at times but never empty. What are your thoughts on the idea of knowledge being infinite? Do you agree or disagree that one should never stop learning now matter what stage of life they’re in? Why or why not?
