CONFUSION “MEDICAL REASONS WE FEEL CONFUSED, A SYMPTOM OF DEMENTIA”

OUR DAILY WISDOM WORD TODAY IS CONFUSION.  WHY DO WE FEEL CONFUSED, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT INVOLVES MAKING A DECISION?  IS EXPERIENCING CONFUSION OFTEN, A SIGN OF AN UNDERLYING CONDITION MEDICALLY OR PSYCHOLOGICALLY?  SOMETIMES, EXPERIENCING CONFUSION IS PERFECTLY NORMAL, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE HAVE TO MAKE A TOUGH CHOICE!  THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT ANSWERS TO A PROBLEM WE ARE HAVING, AND WE CAN’T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT OUR ANSWER.  ONE REASON WE MAY BE CONFUSED IS  OUT OF “FEAR” MAKING THE WRONG DECISION. THE EASIEST WAY TO MAKE THE DECISION CAUSING CONFUSION IS TO MAKE A LIST OF THE POSITIVES FOR US BASED ON WHICH DECISION WE PICK.

LET US TAKE A LOOK AT THE DEFINITION OF CONFUSION IN OUR WEBSTER DICTIONARY AND THE DAILY WISDOM WORD DEFINITION.  WEBSTER DEFINITION OF CONFUSION-1.LACK OF UNDERSTANDING;  UNCERTAINTY  2.  THE STATE OF BEWILDERNENT OR BEING UNCLEAR IN ONE’S MIND.

DAILY  WISDOM WORD DEFINITION-FEELING MENTALLY DISCOMBBULATED.  THERE ARE SEVERAL REASONS WE MAY FEEL CONFUSED WHICH ARE CAUSED MEDICALLY OR MENTALLY.

BEFORE GOING INTO DEMENTIA AND CONFUSION FURTHER, IT IS NORMAL TO FEEL SOME CONFUSION AS I MENTIONED ABOVE.   HOWEVER, WHEN CONFUSION OF THE MIND HAPPENS TOO OFTEN, THERE IS USUALLY AN UNDERLYING REASON SUCH AS PSYCHOLOGICAL OR A MEDICAL REASON.

BEFORE I COVER JUST SOME OF THESE REASONS, RECENTLY, HARVARD UNIVERSITY COMPLETED A STUDY OF OLD AGE IN RELATION TO DEMENTIA  WHICH IS ONE OF THE MAJOR CAUSES OF CONFUSION AND FOUND THAT THE HUMAN BRAIN WITHSTANDS HUMAN AGING BETTER THAN PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT.  A TERM CALLED “SUPERAGING”, IS COMMON WITH SOME CHANGES IF YOUR CONFUSION AND DEMENTIA IS NOT PHYSICAL OR MENTAL.  HERE ARE JUST A FEW REASONS WE MAY EXPERIENCE DEMENTIA.

1. OUR DIET.  WE SHOULD BE EATING SIX LEAFY GREEN SERVINGS OF VEGETABLES PER DAY.   TWO SERVINGS FOR THE BODY AND MIND OF MIXED BERRIES ARE NEEDED TO FEEL LESS CONFUSED AND AVOID THE SYMPTOMS OF DEMENTIA AND CONFUSION FOR OUR BRAIN AS WELL.  FISH AND POULTRY, TWO SERVINGS PER DAY ARE ALSO RECOMMENDED AS WELL AS ONE SERVING OF NUTS PER DAY.

2.  DEPRESSION-WHAT MANY DON’T REALIZE IS WHEN WE ARE DEPRESSED, IT OFTEN CAUSES CONFUSION.  USUALLY, DEPRESSION IS EITHER CAUSED BY SITUATIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES OR IS AN IMBALANCE OF CERTAIN CHEMICALS IN THE BRAIN

3.  CERTAIN DISEASES SUCH AS ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE AND PARKINSONS DISEASE CAUSE DEMENTIA AND CONFUSION IS THE MAJOR SYMPTOM.  THE DIET WE FOLLOW CAN HAVE A POSITIVE EFFECT ON OUR DEMENTIA EVEN IF CAUSED BY THESE DISEASES ADDING CONFUSION

4.  LACK OF SLEEP ON A REGULAR BASIS. 5.  DEHYDRATION.  MANY STUDIES HAVE SHOWN NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER EVERY DAY CAN HAVE A NEGATIVE EFFECT ON OUR OVERALL HEALTH AND BRAIN CAUSING CONFUSION.  DRINK 64  OUNCES OF LIQUID PER DAY

5.  OTHER MENTAL ILLNESSES SUCH AS SCHIZOPHRENIA AND PHYSICAL PAIN.

6.  LACK OF MENTAL STIMULATION CAN CAUSE CONFUSION. 7.  LIFESTYLE CHOICE TO BE ACTIVE

8. HEREDITY

CONFUSION AND DEMENTIA SOMETIMES HAPPEN WHEN WE GET OLDER AND ARE ONE OF THE CAUSES OF DEMENTIA/FORGETFULNESS AND CONFUSION RATHER THAN THE AGING ITSELF.

WHAT CAN WE DO TO IMPROVE DEMENTIA?  AS I MENTIONED ABOVE, FORGETFULNESS AND DEPRESSION CAN HAVE A LARGE EFFECT IN CAUSING DEMENTIA IE., CONFUSION.  I ALSO MENTIONED THAT SOME CONFUSION IS NORMAL AND CAN SIMPLY BE WE HAVE TOO MUCH ON OUR MINDS.  OUR DIETS, HEREDITY, DEHYDRATION, CERTAIN MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ILLNESSES CAUSE DEMENTIA AND CONFUSION.  PLEASE SHARE WITH ME IF THIS ARTICLE WAS HELPFUL TO YOU IN SOME WAY OR YOU HAVE A COMMENT OR QUESTION AND LEAVE IT BENEATH THIS POST IN THE “JOIN THE DISCUSSION AREA.”  THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING. AGING: MIND VS BODY

“Aging is not lost youth but a new stage of opportunity and strength.”

-Betty Friedan

We all dread it at some point. We try our best to stall it and when we can’t, we’d all like to pretend it’s not there by covering it up in any way possible.

I’m talking about aging.

OLD MAN BY NEIL YOUNG

Hi,

I woke up after a necessary body rest to ‘Hey, you’ve not prepared for the prompt today! It’s almost 4:00PM (Nigerian time)

I was damn clueless, that’s how I get when asleep. Even as I’m typing this now, I still feel asleep. Yes! I’m a sleep person. I love sleep 😊

If you get to see any typo here… please blame it on sleep not me.

So, I hurriedly sent a message to Michelle Hugelmann and she suggested two beautiful song if which I chose one. Thank you Michelle!

Let’s get into shall we. Wait! I forgot to say something: MERRY CHRISTMAS IN ADVANCE 🌲🌹💞

LYRICS

Old man look at my life
I’m a lot like you were
Old man look at my life
I’m a lot like you were
Old man look at my life
Twenty four and there’s so much more
Live alone in a paradise
That makes me think of two
Love lost, such a cost
Give me things that don’t get lost
Like a coin that won’t get tossed
Rolling home to you
Old man take a look at my life I’m a lot like you
I need someone to love me the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes and you can tell that’s true
Lullabies, look in your eyes
Run around the same old town
Doesn’t mean that much to me
To mean that much to you
I’ve been first and last
Look at how the time goes past
But I’m all alone at last
Rolling home to you
Old man take a look at my life I’m a lot like you
I need someone to love me the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes and you can tell that’s true
Old man look at my life
I’m a lot like you were
Old man look at my life
I’m a lot like you were

LANTERN AND TIME

Isn’t it funny and a bit cruel how we dismiss things when a better version of it comes up?

The times are different. Different innovation roam the surface of the earth leaving the things we knew to beg for use.

I told myself that I wasn’t going to ask this question but I’m sure going to ask at this point: do you still use a lantern?

Or have you like this time and age relegated it to a warehouse? At this point, I see myself as the lantern. And the answer is quite simple.

Let’s talk about it.

LET’S TALK ABOUT IT!👏💞

Age: To Count or Not To Count?

“Never put an age limit on your dreams.”

-Unknown

Ever feel like life is passing you by? There are many things in life that are difficult to attain or even pursue after a certain age.

Dreams, however, are NOT one of those things.

No matter how old you are and at what stage you can always pursue your dreams.

Sometimes we hear things like “you’re only as old as you feel” and “age is just a number.”

On a practical level, such proverbs don’t always apply as physically, every body ages with our without our desire.

But dreams don’t. And there’s certainly no shortage of examples to prove this

People have gotten degrees well into their 80’s. Senior citizens have competed and in many cases even won, athletic competitions against people half their age.

Age is not JUST a number regarding certain areas. But it most certainly is when it comes to pursuing dreams.

Never stop dreaming.
