Happy New Year, everyone! In one of my recent posts, I had talked about New Year resolutions.
“I don’t know where I’m going but I’m on my way.”
-Unknown
Very often, we talk about “finding ourselves” and searching for a specific purpose in life. But is that always necessary? Can one only be content when working towards a specific goal?
“I think in terms of the day’s resolution, not the years'”
-Henry Moore
It’s that time of the year again. We make one or more promises to ourselves and possibly others. We call those promises resolutions.
“It’s not what’s under the Christmas tree that matters, it’s who’s around it.” -Charlie Brown Merry Christmas, everyone! Thank you all for taking the time to read mine and other posts on this site. It’s Christmas so I’ll keep this post nice and short. As you smile, laugh and perhaps even shed tears of joy … Read more
“If you have no critics you’ll likely have no success.”
-Malcolm X
What or who are critics? People who assess your work and critique it is usually the more common conception. And while that may be true, we often forget one basic definition: criticism is just an opinion.
“Addiction is inside you no matter how far your soul has evolved.”
-Dr. Carter Stout
Are we all addicts in some shape or fashion? Are addiction traits all in-born?
“Practice makes perfect.”
-Unknown
We all are familiar with today’s quote. While origins of it are debatable, it’s generally believed that it first appeared in the English language in “The Diary and Autobiography of John Adams” around 1760.
“My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: Loving others.”
-Bob Hope
Why do we celebrate Christmas? Officially, we’re celebrating Christ’s birthday. And the byproduct of that happens to be Christmas trees, lights and of course, presents.

Accomplishments will prove to be a journey, not a destination.
-Dwight D. Eisenhower
For the longest time, one of the most commonly used phrases I’ve heard is “the end justifies the means.” Adding to that are stories of constant hustle and bustle till people reach their goals. It all makes me think; is a destination simply a mcguffin for learning?
“If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is THANK YOU, it will be enough.”
-Meister Eckhart
In a previous post, I had explored whether having faith has to equate to being religious. In it, I came away with the conclusion that while the two are often correlated, the correlation is not mandatory.
To expand on the same topic, can you apply the same philosophy to praying? When saying a prayer, is it always to a religious entity? In order to explore that question, we have to ask, what exactly is praying?
“A sly piece of of good luck, which nobody knows of is delightful.”
-Publilius Syrus
Is no news always good news? Not necessarily. If you don’t hear from someone for a few days and it’s because something adverse happened to them, that’s obviously not a pleasant experience.
“Best friends never have the same nature. They just have [the] best understanding of the differences.” -Unknown Would the world be a better place if everyone thought and felt the same way? Given the adverse behavior towards the political landscape today, one might be tempted to think so. But it wouldn’t. It’s the differences, both … Read more
“May the peace and joy of the holiday season live in your heart all year long.”
-Unknown
It was Thanksgiving yesterday and Christmas is coming up. Warm wishes, greeting cards, time with family are all either already here and/or on the horizon. Think about the spirit in the air for a second.
Now think about what it would be like if that spirit was alive and vibrant all year long. Is that even possible?
“Visualization is daydreaming with a purpose.”
-Businessman Bo Bennett
Can you visualize your dreams into reality?
“Tied to apron strings, dreams forget to fly!”
-Orion
The noblest thoughts we can have is wanting to help someone, especially when we’re personally not gaining anything from it. Help is what takes humanity forward. Help is what keeps everyone going as we all need it at many stages of our lives.
But is there a limit to that? Does there come a stage when it’s time to let go; when it’s time to cut the apron strings? According me to, yes there is.
NOTE: This is a repost from a few months ago. I was planning to post the 2nd part of the post on cults when someone who intially spoke to me on the record is retracting her story and hence, I have to rewrite the post. In the mean time, please enjoy this post on intuition … Read more
“When people leave cults, they don’t know that they left a cult.”
-Sean Durkin
On November 18, 1978, 909 people, 304 of them being children, killed themselves in Jonestown, Guyana by ingesting Flavor Aid mixed with cyanide and a sedative.
They were all followers of the cult of Jim Jones.
Hello friends and readers, Please tune in tomorrow and Wednesday for another exclusive two-part post coming on cults. What exactly qualifies as a cult? What makes people join them and then continue to participate even when the truth is exposed? With the recent controversies over the cult group NXIVM and the tumultous history of Scientology, … Read more
“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”
-Steve Maraboli
The world is moving at such a breakneck speed that sometimes we tend forget the value of some simple things in life.
One of them is the act of common courtesy.
“Life is your mirror
What you see as your outside
Always comes from your inside.”
-Roxana Jones
There is a term in psychology that is not utilized or alluded to as often as some other terms and elements. Nevertheless, everyone does it at some point, either conciously or unconciously (in all probability, more the latter than the former). Chances are that you’ve done it at some point as well.
It’s called mirroring.
