SELF-AWARENESS

WE SHOULD ALL LISTEN TO OUR OWN INTERNAL SIGNALS.  SELF-AWARENESS IS JUST THIS:  PAYING ATTENTION TO OUR INTUITION, INSTINCTS, AND PERSONAL THOUGHTS.  THERE ARE SEVERAL REASONS WE SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO OUR INNER-SELF AND OUTER SURROUNDINGS.  FIRST, WE WILL LOOK AT THE DEFINITION OF SELF-AWARENESS.  

WEBSTER DEFINITION OF SELF-AWARENESS-1.  AN AWARENESS OF OWN PERSONALITY AND INDIVIDUALITY.

DAILY WISDOM WORD DEFINITION OF SELF-AWARENESS-1.  PAYING ATTENTION TO OUR INSTINCT, INTUITION, THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONS.  

WE ARE GIVEN MANY TOOLS TO HELP US NAVIGATE OUR WAY THROUGH THIS WORLD.  ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IS OUR OWN SELF-AWARENESS.  WE HAVE SO MUCH TO WORK WITH IF WE SIMPLY LISTEN TO OUR OWN SELF.  FIRST, WE HAVE INSTINCTS.  I AM SURE WE HAVE ALL FELT OUR INSTINCTS AT WORK WHEN WE ARE AROUND OTHERS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THIS PERSON IS A DANGER TO US IN SOME WAY.  PERHAPS YOUR SINGLE AND YOU MEET THIS AMAZING, ATTRACTIVE MAN.  YET, INSIDE, DESPITE EVERY WONDERFUL THING HE REPRESENTS, YOU HAVE A FEELING OF UNEASINESS AROUND HIM.  THIS IS OUR INSTINCT AND INTUITION WORKING TOGETHER.  IF WE LISTEN TO THESE WARNINGS, WE LEARN TO RELY AND LEAN ON THEM WHEN MAKING JUDGEMENT CALLS.  WE GET AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PERSON AS WE CAN, DESPITE HOW ATTRACTIVE HE ACTS AND APPEARS.

WHEN WE DON’T LISTEN TO OUR INNER-AWARENESS AND PROCEED WITH THIS PERSON ANYWAY, CHANCES ARE YOUR INSTINCT AND INTUITION AND FEELINGS ARE CORRECT ABOUT HIM.  YOUR ACCURACY IN JUDGEMENT IS DETERMINED BY HOW MUCH YOU LISTEN TO SELF-AWARENESS.  

THERE ARE OCCASIONS WHERE WE WILL NOT BE CORRECT, BUT IT STILL IS AN EMOTION WERE FEELING WE SHOULD BE AWARE OF.  PERHAPS THIS PERSON IS EMOTIONALLY AVAILABLE AND YOUR FEELING INSIDE FEAR BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT.  USING SELF-AWARENESS WITH OUR EMOTIONS PAYS OFF.  WE CAN DETERMINE THE ROOT OR CAUSE OF THESE FEELINGS QUICKLY AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT IF THE PROBLEM LIES ON OUR END.  

SELF-AWARENESS (INSTINCTS, INTUITION OR EMOTIONS) ARE ALERTED BY LEVELS OF CORTISOL FROM THE BRAIN RISING.  THIS MEANS THERE IS EVEN A PHYSICAL RESPONSE WHEN WE ARE IN DANGER OF SOME KIND.  WE NEED TO HEED THESE WARNINGS.  

THERE ARE OTHER REASONS TO BE SELF-AWARE THAT DETERMINE SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS EATING FOOD!  WE KNOW WHEN WE ARE FULL OR HUNGRY BY OUR HYPOTHALAMUS AND BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS.  IF WE ARE DILIGENT AND SELF-AWARE, WE CAN START EATING WHEN OUR BODY IS HUNGRY, AND STOP EATING WHEN OUR BODY HAS ENOUGH FOOD.  OTHERWISE, WE ARE CONTROLLED BY OUR APPETITES AND EAT TOO MUCH OR DON’T EAT.  

SELF-AWARENESS IS AMAZING AND SO IS THE HUMAN BODY EMOTIONALLY, INTELLECTUALLY AND INTERNALLY.  PAY ATTENTION TO YOURSELF AND YOU WILL REAP THE BENEFITS AND MAKE FEWER MISTAKES IN JUDGEMENT.
