We’ve all done this at some point. You grab your phone to check a “few” social media notifications. You’re sure it won’t take more than a few minutes.
You reply back, hit all the “likes,” share what you find interesting and look at the clock. Surprise surprise, it’s a few hours later!

Imagine this scenario. You upload something on social media. It could a be a picture or a poem a link to an article or anything else.
You finishing uploading and fix your gaze on the notification icon, waiting for it to blow up. (Or so you wish). But nothing significant happens. You might get one or two likes or you might not. And in sets the disappointment. Sound familiar?

Imagine this scenario. You’re on one of your zillion social media accounts and surrounded by glamorous pictures of friends, family members and people who you can’t even remember how, if at all, you know.

It’s getting close to almost a full year since I integrated myself within this wonderful community and wonderful family known as Daily Wisdom Words. This post is a celebration to that. When Samantha first approached me to write the Wisdomology section of this site, I was very grateful for the opportunity and kind of resurrected my love for writing, especially non-fiction writing as I had not done that since my days as a journalist nearly 10-12 years ago.
An amazing thing happens when you stop seeking approval and validation: You find it.

How necessary is it to for us to have validation?
I have been asking myself this for the last few months. As an aspiring writer, there are times when, perhaps necessarily, seek validations from writers who I respect. Every time I come out with new story or poem, my mind always wonders “What will so-and-so think?”
