“What I think is what I am. If I think I can, I know I can.” -Neel TrivediIt’s constantly preached at self-help seminars. Psychologists make it a point to hammer it in. Every type of life coach stresses on the idea: Think positive. But how exactly do we do that?

NO PURPOSE, NO MATTER
“I don’t know where I’m going but I’m on my way.” -UnknownVery often, we talk about “finding ourselves” and searching for a specific purpose in life. But is that always necessary? Can one only be content when working towards a specific goal?
New Year’s Resolutions
“I think in terms of the day’s resolution, not the years'” -Henry MooreIt’s that time of the year again. We make one or more promises to ourselves and possibly others. We call those promises resolutions.

Dealing With Critics

Journeys and McGuffins
Accomplishments will prove to be a journey, not a destination. -Dwight D. EisenhowerFor the longest time, one of the most commonly used phrases I’ve heard is “the end justifies the means.” Adding to that are stories of constant hustle and bustle till people reach their goals. It all makes me think; is a destination simply a mcguffin for learning?
PRAYER VS. HOPE
“If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is THANK YOU, it will be enough.” -Meister EckhartIn a previous post, I had explored whether having faith has to equate to being religious. In it, I came away with the conclusion that while the two are often correlated, the correlation is not mandatory. To expand on the same topic, can you apply the same philosophy to praying? When saying a prayer, is it always to a religious entity? In order to explore that question, we have to ask, what exactly is praying?

APRON STRINGS AND HELP
“Tied to apron strings, dreams forget to fly!” -OrionThe noblest thoughts we can have is wanting to help someone, especially when we’re personally not gaining anything from it. Help is what takes humanity forward. Help is what keeps everyone going as we all need it at many stages of our lives. But is there a limit to that? Does there come a stage when it’s time to let go; when it’s time to cut the apron strings? According me to, yes there is.
