Music Prompt- Show Me How

I am currently trying to seal a deal with a Nigerian author who wants to publish on Amazon. From our chat, it shows that he indecisive because i presented him with two options: publish it or show you how to publish. I am yet to hear from him.

I know you know what i am talking about. The question is would you love someone to do something for you or show you how to do it? I am Abuh Monday Eneojo. Welcome to Daily Wisdom Words Music Prompt. I will be your host.

GOOD PEOPLE BY JACK JOHNSON

Good People by Jack Johnson

You know me. I am a jolly good fellow surrounded with good people. You know what, this song reminds me of a popular adage peculiar to the Yoruba speaking people in Western Nigeria.

Awon eniyan ni aso mi

In English language, it means people are my clothes. It is proverb that suits this beautiful song by Jack Johnson. The question in the song is, where are all the good people? They are at Daily Wisdom Words. I am the first candidate. (laughs) A big thanks to Michelle Huggelmann for suggesting that i feature this song on Daily Wisdom Words Music Prompt. Welcome!

WHY THE EULOGY BY ABUH MONDAY ENEOJO

In recent times, I have come to a point where I wonder, totally, why people give certain appraisal or eulogy that may be weird to you especially when the frequency is much. Have you ever ever experienced that?

I have. It was so not good an experience. The aftermath were questions that brewed funny facial expressions as I thought about it. But why is he/she eulogizing my name? I may be able to answer the question but let us assume that I don’t have the answers for a minute. That way our minds can travel to the ends of the earth.

But I am not popular yet. The star is still flickering; it’s light shining on a considerable number of people.

That’s what I say to myself when I get MondayyyyyDpoet eulogy from friends and family. So imagine how embarrassed I feel when I get…

TOUCH THIS.

When people give eulogy in Nigeria, oftentimes, it is to mock rather than hail ones extraordinary nature. So, you find someone like me wondering when such an act plays out.

The aforementioned may not be true of Nigerians and other people in the world, I want to believe it is not peculiar to only Nigerians. Eulogy may come out of sheer appreciation for something one possesses; more like an ability that is rare or difficult to handle. If I take out the possibility of it being used as a means to mock, then, I relegate my insecurities when I need them the most.

Yes. You may not believe it. Our insecurities guard against many things. This only happens when we have good control of it though. I have to stop here…

Concentrate and Less

It is a new month and I would like to say welcome to the month of June. You may want to learn something new, ice skating. Some friends of mine may already know the art of ice skating well enough to tell us that the first step to go through ice skating without hitting the ice is to concentrate less.

Sounds weird right? Yes, it is. Concentrating less is the key to the art of ice skating. This notion is solely based on the series I am currently seeing, American gods. I recommend you watch this three seasoned TV series if you have a thing for divinity. Time to get into the act.

I am Abuh Monday Eneojo. Welcome to Daily Wisdom Words Picture Poetry Writing Exercise. It’s a Tuesday morning. I will be your host. Remember, it doesn’t count if you do not invite someone to the prompt. Let’s do this.

PEACE FROM GOD BY CECE WINANS

At some point it becomes clear what is to be done because the peace of God given to us makes all things easy and wonderful at every passing. So, I was in church today and the minister of the gospel hammered on remembering who we are. I guess he was already tired at the sight of every form of sodomy in the world. Well, that is not what I want us to talk about today.

Our major emphasis is on the peace of God. You see, we struggle day and night trying to make ends meet everyday. I have my own fair share of that narrative and I’m very sure you have yours but we just have to struggle to get things done. Some two hours ago, I would have finished my laundry, make some notes ready for school and read up a bit but…

The peace of God affords us rest as is written in Mathew 6:34 and Mathew 6:26. The peace of God to me is when I get that credit in my bank; it is when I write a poem that I TRULY know is a product of God’s hand on my head and get acknowledgement for it. What is the peace of God to you? I call it favor.

MONOPOLY AND MONEY

The art of making money is quite simple but many see it as very difficult because of the elite in the society who amass wealth for themselves and make it difficult for others to get to the zenith financially. This is the belief of many.

A game may not be the true test of one’s wealth but Monopoly may prove otherwise. I’m saying this because I have been playing it with my siblings. It’s quite fun and consumes time a lot but it sure proves something: how resources should be managed.

The words we get to infuse in our write on Daily Wisdom Words Picture Poetry Prompt is MONOPOLY AND MONEY. My name is Abuh Monday Eneojo.  I will be your host.

DOGS AND ME

Picture of my dog.

I’m going to make this one about me. ‘Me’ in this context represents everyone who disliked dogs before developing one or two feelings for them. Before now, I really fret when I’m faced with a dog trying to guard his/her territory.

I would run as fast as my legs can carry. My heart pouncing and pounding in fear of it’s teeth in my flesh. In my defense, I would grab a stone or a handful of earth and the dog will run away. Just so you know, some did not take the bait.

Away with fear. Let’s talk about love for this beautiful creature. Her name is Rosie. She loves to play ball, belly rub, fish and milk. Isn’t she beautiful?

Do you have fear for dogs? Do you love them? Let’s talk about it. Welcome to Daily Wisdom Words Picture Poetry Prompt. I am Abuh Monday Eneojo. I will be your host.

WOO AND MEN

I just want you to know that I cannot wait for a man to tell that he loves me when the feeling is mutual. I’ll meet him and profess my love to him.

That’s close to what my friend told me some years ago when we were faced with whether it was okay for a woman to woo a man. Before I continue, I’d love to state that I will be very sensitive to whatever I’m going to express on Daily Wisdom Words Picture Prompt today because it is about gender. I know you know that the argument of whether it is plausible for a woman to woo a man in the society which is not within the norms of humanity can be really painful and somewhat frustrating. If that’s the case then we may have to take a long ride into the inequality of the sexes in the world.

See this: Unashamed (a poem)

Trust me, if we do that many people that that you know as advocate of gender equality would be found wanting for sexism. Well, that’s not where I’m headed. Take a look at the picture above. The anonymous woman- could be you- is kissing a man so passionately that he in no time may pass out. The implication is that if the society wants to believe in equality of gender, then, this so-called restriction in emoting ones feeling should take the long ride to oblivion. But, it comes with a price.

Man’s solution to a problem is a problem.

– Abuh Monday Eneojo.

On a more lighter note, combination of woo and man or men spells out wooman and woomen…in other words, women woo men. Hahahahaha😊

Let’s talk about it today. Can a woman woo a man? Do you find it natural, unnatural or unnaturally naturally? I want to know. Tell me.

I DON’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT BY ROD STEWART

Often times friends say “I am fine” when they are clearly sad or badly damaged emotionally because they do not want to talk about it. I see no reason why it happens but I want to believe that humans have evolved to a point where they box things to people who are not consistent enough to get them to talk about it.

It may sound utterly weird but all the same, I don’t just share emotional stuffs to people who may seem not to care but want to know- nobody does that. Even my consciousness is a bit alert to every inquisition at such times. The big question is why don’t you want to talk about it?

Sometimes, the people you think don’t want to talk to you are the ones waiting for you to talk to them.

In 2019, the rate of suicide increased rapidly in some parts of Nigeria as well countries beyond her shores that I really do not remember. That year, I opened my ears and mostly my arms to people. The arms comes first because most times, tears quaked the words. So it had to go for the words to come out without a sob. I discovered that most of the victims decided to kick the bucket because they did not talk about it or should I say were unable to talk about it. Maybe because nobody was there. How can that be true? Is it possible not to have at least a one go-to person?

But seriously, you have to talk about it. The platform is open. Feel free to pour it out. Pour out everything. Don’t hold it back. Let the pain out! That way you become free. MAKE GOOD ON YOUR PROMISES

NEVER GIVE UP BY SIA

Never give up. It doesn’t pay anyone. It pains someone

Abuh Monday Eneojo

Maybe it is actually not the best time to play the song and tell you never to give up. Maybe you actually need this as a ladder to the next step. I really do not know but I have a rather funny great feeling in whatever you are about to do. Never give up! You see, life is a true abundance of simplicity many have made difficult with decisions and rather disheartening statements that dissuade, completely, humans from attaining feats in life.

Can you hear me? Don’t give up!

You have to pull yourself together, fight it and show, first, yourself that you can do it before the world sees who you are truly made of. I will tell you a story. It may not be the kind of story you are used to but it sure will get you to the discourse of the day on  Daily Wisdom Words Music Prompt.

For me, it was just a means to an end: get my poems out to the people of Kogi State, Nigeria. A state whose beauty transcends beautifully well via the Confluence, Niger River and Benue River and an array of the remnants of Frederick Lugard. On many occasions, I have seen these amazing things and I must say that it is brings a kind of inspiration you cannot explain. Michelle Huggelmann can explain every bit of what I say.

So, my first show on radio was not really a success because I repeated words and…just so I don’t bore you with the whole event of that day, my instructor told me that I needed to work on myself and speak authoritatively. Authoritatively? Yes. He said that I needed to command my audience. Consistency brought me to the better [art of the story. I never gave up. You should not! Now, my voice is a tool. One that I use well.

Enough talk. Let’s get into the day’s exercise. It may be coming late. Apologies.

MAKE GOOD ON PROMISES

Most times I wonder why people do not make good on their promises. Think about it. I may be wrong. I may be totally wrong but I think we’re loosing it to growth. Gradually, we slip into oblivion and loose the efficacy of words.

Far back…some three years, I really do not remember the exact year, someone promised to do something for me. I totally banked on his words not knowing what was to come. I had made plans around the promise because I felt and believed that once words are uttered, then, realization should not be a problem.

I had it coming. A big bunch of disappointment that slapped me hard on the face. It crumbled my esteem as I hid my face for a while. Maybe he too banked on a promise like me and got the same disappointment.

Now, I do not bank on promises. All I do is wait for it. If it comes it comes; if it doesn’t so be it.

If I bring in some narrative from the HOLY BIBLE you would see clearly the efficacy of words we no longer value as we lay promises in the heart of many without caution. My rule of thumb is to always be blunt and brute. It may not augur well for some but it helps my consciousness because I know I did not set any heart high on something yet to be seen. It sounds difficult but it is easier to say i can’t do this or promise to. You should try it.

You may want to ask why keep a promise when others play with it? The answer to that question is a question: why promise an act when you cannot keep it?

The truth of the matter is that if we truly care about people and how they feel, we will be responsible  enough to attach filters in our mouths and embrace humanity so warmly that even though you cannot do something for someone when they asked; telling them, sincerely, that you cannot…

SHAKE IT UP BY THE CARS

It is only normal to shake things up today on Daily Wisdom Words Music Prompt today with Shake It Up by The Cars as I add another number to my age today. Well, it is all about me. It is about you. I mean you! Let me share something with you. In the school I teach English language and Literature, I asked my students whether or not I was boring. The question was intentional.

I pondered on it for a while before asking them because I felt that I may not have been doing something right in class. Guess what they said…

Mr. Monday, you are not that boring but your stories are captivating. We love them. That is one of the things we always look out for.

That sure is a consolation right. After that session, I looked up ways to spice up myself so my students will enjoy my lectures more and it came to me two days ago. Shake it up! That was all I needed to be fun. Beyond the stories, I need to loosen up a bit and smile deeply in class. It worked.

So, I enjoin everyone here to shake it up on Daily Wisdom Words Music Prompt today because there’s no room for dull moments. Be happy! Hakuna Matata! Join the prompt today. Join Daily Wisdom Words.

WRITERS RETREAT

Writers Retreat by Lloyd Cole.

Settling the dispute between the art of writing and relationship with others may be quite unsettling most times. As writers, we are always faced with what to write and this singular state creates a huge space in how we relate to people dear to us. Just so you, the song I want to feature on Daily Wisdom Words is on repeat. I just have to leave it that way so I write what I am supposed to write.

If you are reading this I’d like you to know that there is utmost need to balance your art and love life as a writer. Ideas may come when your spouse needs you. They may knock on your door and leave your hands and mind lost to thoughts you cannot but want to write down. I know! The question, big question, is how do you write and love? Can you answer that question? Tell me, can you?

You can’t. Like Samantha LeBeouf would gladly say to me. “Prioritize. What should come first? God. Then family…” and whatever you feel is necessary and valuable enough to fill the third position as a writer. Do you know the answer to the question now? I know you do.

CRIMSON AND CLOVER

Crimson and Clover by Tommy James & The Shondells. That’s the song I’d love to feature on Daily Wisdom Words Music Prompt. Not only is this song great. It also is poetic and good for every ear and mind.

It came to me as a surprise when I found out that the song was getting to like me. It was used as a soundtrack in The sun is also a star, a movie that portrays young Jamaican scientist who was to be deported and a young Asian to be author who loves poetry but has to pursue medicine because of his parent. Yes, crimson and clover is a 1968 song that clearly captures love. Check out the lyrics below:

Ah, now I don’t hardly know her
But I think I could love her
Crimson and clover
Ah when she comes walking over
Now I’ve been waitin’ to show her
Crimson and clover
Over and over
Yeah, my, my such a sweet thing
I wanna do everything
What a beautiful feeling
Crimson and clover over and over
Crimson and clover
Over and over…

GIVING AND LOVE

Picture for giving and love post

While I wait for a good image for this prompt, I will try not to define giving but wait for Samantha LeBoeuf to do justice to it.

Giving and Love are quintessential in life. Though the later informs the former, we often times do not know because we are overshadowed with compassion. Why am I bringing this up on Daily Wisdom Words Picture Poetry Prompt today?

NOBILITY. WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT IT?

That’s a good question I’d love to answer. Take a sit and listen to my story on giving and love. Some beautiful minutes ago I looked up on Google the reviews we have, and it reminded me of the giving and love I and many writers in this community have experienced over the years.

Three years ago, I was just some random Tweep posting poems on Twitter for the likes and adorable comments from people I had no relationship with but it changed. Samantha LeBeouf spotted my art and voila…end of the story.

Give us a review on Google

You must be able to love to give. That’s exactly what I have experienced in this amazing writing community. Hello Donna, how are you doing?

HAVE A TALK WITH GOD BY STEVIE WONDER

Picture of Steve Wonder

Someone very dear to us stumbled on this song “Have a talk with God” by Stevie Wonder whose life is really a wonder to all. You should read his interview. My first encounter with him was in the All Star’s We are the World composed by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson in the 80s.

“Have a talk with God”  It may sound awfully undoable to many. How do you talk to a supernatural being you do not see? I’ll love to answer that question. Maybe in another article that will be co-authored by Shirley Satterfield.

Good News!

We have a new member on Daily Wisdom Words. Her name is Donna Marie and she, like Reenie, paints beautifully. Truly, God gifted everyone of us with amazing arts. As a way of getting to know her better, I asked for a short bio and I got this:

Donna Marie has been a poet since age 13. She writes about the emotions of people who have been changed by trauma and then overcome. She’s writing a book about life experience. Here greatest talents are in doing artwork. In 2017 she was given the new title of professional artist. Her greatest gift is the ability to communicate with expression. Thank you Monday ~ I hope this is okay?

Yes. It helps. A big warm welcome to you even though we have to plow through the storm…

Self portrait of a Tribal Leader in water color by Donna Marie

“Have a talk with God” True. We all need to talk to God. Engage Him in a conversation so we know why the world is changing by the day. At this juncture, I’d like you to welcome you to Daily Wisdom Words Music Prompt.

YOU CALL THEM MEMORIES BY ABUH MONDAY ENEOJO

It was really about how the valuable memories of a person- living or dead- has great value than the actual person. You think it’s weird, right? It may be but that is what I felt.

As weird as it may seem or sound to you right now, I still cannot say that the feel I had is mutual. That would be very illogical. You may have your own contrary opinion.

I’d like for you to preen at the lines and tell me what you think about it.
