TIES

TODAY, OUR DAILY WISDOM WORD IS TIES.   OFTEN TIMES WE HEAR THE PHRASE, “THE TIES THAT BIND”.  OUR LIVES ARE FULL OF TIES, BOTH LITERAL AND METAPHORIC. AS THINGS UNFOLD IN OUR LIFE, SOMETIMES THESE TIES BREAK.  WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IT OFTEN IS FOR THE BEST.  IF YOU BELIEVE IN DESTINY, YOU MAY FIND THIS CONCEPT EASIER TO DIGEST.   

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS ARE ACCURATE FOR ME TO UNDERSTAND WHY CERTAIN THINGS HAPPEN IN LIFE THAT HURT. WE OFTEN DON’T REALIZE THIS UNTIL WE SEE WHERE OUR LIFE HAS GONE DOWN THE ROAD A BIT.  WE WILL THEN LOOK BACK AT THOSE BROKEN TIES AND REALIZE IT WAS NECESSARY FOR US TO BREAK THOSE PREVIOUS TIES IN ORDER TO TIE OUR SHOES AGAIN IN OUR PRESENT CIRCUMSTANCES. I BELIEVE LIFE  WORKS THIS WAY TODAY. 

I AM NOT A PSYCHIATRIST.  LOOKING BACK, WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE, I LOVED DIFFERENT KINDS OF MENTAL OR PSYCHOLOGICAL COURSES. I CREATED THEORIES LIKE THIS:  TIES SHOULD ONLY BE KNOTTED AGAIN IF WE “FIT” IN THE CURRENT SHOES LIFE IS ASKING US TO WEAR AND LACE UP OR TIE OR GOD IS.  I OFTEN HAVE WHAT I CALL, AN “AH HA” MOMENT AND REMEMBER WHERE I’VE ONCE BEEN AND THE NECESSITY TO EXPERIENCE THE FEELINGS HAD DURING EVENTS WE’VE EXPERIENCED IN THE PAST. 

THESE ARE THE PAST EVENTS WE EXPERIENCED, WHICH LEAD TO US TAKING THE NEXT STEP IN KNOWLEDGE.  BECAUSE OF THESE EVENTS, WE FINALLY UNDERSTAND WHY WE’VE EXPERIENCED WHATEVER WE DID TO GET  TO THIS NEW STEP EXPERIENCED IN THE PAST.  WE EVOLVE, ESPECIALLY WITH EMOTIONS, AND TIES ARE ALMOST ALWAYS CONNECTING THIS KNOWLEDGE TOGETHER. 

LET US TAKE A LOOK AT THE DEFINITION OF TIES THAT APPLY TO THIS POST FROM OUR WEBSTER DICTIONARY AND OUR DAILY WISDOM WORDS MEANING.  1.  TO BRING TOGETHER IN RELATIONSHIP, CONNECT OE UNITE.  FRIENDS WHO WERE TIED TO COMMON INTERESTS.  2.  PEOPLE WHO ARE TIED BY BLOOD OR MARRIAGE. 

DAILY WISDOM WORD DEFINITION-A BASE OF KNOWLEDGE THAT TIES ANOTHER MORE DEFINED PIECE OF LEARNING ONCE WE LEARN THIS BASE.  THESE TIES ARE PART OF A GENERAL PROCESS OR SPECIFIC AREA OF KNOWLEDGE.  TIES ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE AN IMPORTANT DAILY WISDOM WORDS DEFINITION. 

TIES CAN REPRESENT TIES THAT ARE A PART OF THE STRONGEST RELATIONSHIPS IN LIFE WE WILL EVER HAVE.  TIES ARE A PART OF COMMITMENT OR A COMMITMENT TO LEARN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ABOUT OURSELVES AND TAKE SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO US, TO LEARN AS MUCH AS WE CAN IN OUR LIFE COMMITMENT TO LEARN AS MUCH AS WE CAN IN ALL AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE TAKING THE  TIME AND COMMITMENT WITH OUR OWN INTERNAL TIES.  ONE BASE OF KNOWLEDGE TAKES US TO ANOTHER, MORE COMPLICATED KNOWLEDGE AND WITH COMMITMENT, THE TIES CREATED OVER TIME ALLOW US TO BECOME AN EXPERT.

HEARTBREAK “DOES OUR HEART REALLY BREAK?

WE ALL FEEL OR WILL FEEL WE HAVE A BROKEN HEART AT SOME POINT IN OUR LIFE UNLESS WE ARE NOT CAPABLE OF LOVE.  DOES THIS MEAN OUR HEART LITERALLY “BREAKS”?  I DO BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE A FEW SITUATIONS WHERE WE TRULY SEE A BROKEN HEART.  I HAVE SEEN IT HAPPEN WITH SOMEONE OLDER WHOSE PARTNER DIES.  THESE CASES END IN BOTH PEOPLE DYING OVER A PERIOD OF A MONTH AT THE LONGEST. 

THE OTHER PERSON THE PARTNER WAS MARRIED TO, OF COURSE ALSO SHARED THEIR LIFE TOGETHER FOR FIFTY TO SEVENTY YEARS.  THEY JUST CANNOT GET PAST THE MOMENTS, MINUTES, HOURS, AND DAYS LEADING INTO YEARS, DECADES, AND EVEN HALF CENTURIES OF TIME SPENT TOGETHER AND THE LOVE, CHILDREN, GREAT MEMORIES, AND HOPES AND DREAMS SHARED AND LOST OVER THE YEARS.  THEY CANNOT ADJUST BACK TO BEING ALONE.  THIS IS NOT TRUE FOR ALL COUPLES MARRIED THAT LONG. 

I HAVE A FRIEND WHO WAS DATING THIS MAN WHO HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY MARRIED RIGHT BEFORE HE MET HER FOR MANY YEARS.  SHE WAS SO TORN UP AND HEARTBROKEN AFTER GOING THROUGH A RECENT BREAKUP HERSELF, SHE WAS NOT SURE SHE WAS IN LOVE WITH THIS NEW MAN, SO WHEN HE DECIDED TO GO BACK TO HIS PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIP TO SEE IF HE COULD STILL MAKE IT WORK, AND BE THE PERSON HE WAS WITHIN HIS EX-MARRIAGE, AND IRONICALLY, AFTER ONE WEEKEND OF BEING AROUND HIS EX-WIFE HE WENT RIGHT BACK TO MY FRIEND.   HE TOLD MY FRIEND, THAT GOING BACK TO HER ONLY REINFORCED HIS NEW LOVE WITH MY FRIEND.  TODAY THEY ARE MARRIED.   MY POINT IS ALL THE STRINGS AND PREVIOUS ATTACHMENTS WERE NOT STRONG OR LONG ENOUGH TO CAUSE THESE INDIVIDUALS TO HAVE A BROKEN HEART.  THEY CAN LEARN TO LOVE NEW PEOPLE.  IN CASES OF TRUE HEARTBREAK, THE TRUTH IS USUALLY SEEN IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LIGH

THESE COUPLES CAN SEE NO POSSIBILITY OF ANY FUTURE WITH ANYONE AGAIN SO THEY STOP EATING, OR DRINKING WATER AND ARE USUALLY DEAD WITHIN A MONTH OF THE OTHER PERSON DYING WHO WAS THEIR OTHER HALF.  LET US TAKE A LOOK AT THE MEANING OF HEARTBREAK IN OUR WEBSTER DICTIONARY AND THE DAILY WISDOM WORDS INFORMATION.  WEBSTER DEFINITION OF HEARTBREAK-1.  OVERWHELMING DISTRESS.  2.  A METEPHORE OR A FEELING OF A BROKEN HEART, OR FEELING OF REJECTION BY A LOVED ONE OF EMOTIONAL DEVASTATION.  DAILY WISDOM WORD DEFINITION OF HEARTBREAK-1.  TWO HEARTS THAT LOVE ONE ANOTHER TO THE DEGREE THEY HAVE MERGED INTO ONE.   BECAUSE THEY HAVE MERGED, VERY MUCH AS TWINS SHARE SOMETHING IN A MOTHER WOMB, THEY HAVE GROWN TO SHARE ONE HEART AND WHEN THE OTHER HALF OF THAT HEART DIES, IT LEAVES THE OTHER PERSON UNABLE TO LIVE ANY KIND OF QUALITY LIFESTYLE BECAUSE THEY SHARE THE HEART AND THEIRS WILL NOT ADJUST AS IT NORMALLY WOULD IN MOST CASES WHERE THE HEARTS HAVE NOT BECOME ADJOINED IN SOME WAY.

MARRIAGE ( IS IT JUST A “PIECE OF PAPER?”)

With summer here, along with COVID-19, many people who have planned their weddings this summer, have had to cancel their weddings due to “social distancing” requirements.  Some have opted for a ceremony in place of a wedding with immediate family.  Some couples have postponed their wedding completely until next summer.  There is a growing number of people who feel marriage is a sham.  They feel it is no more than just a “piece of paper” or contract devoid of any feeling or emotion.  Before going any further with this, let us take a look at the meaning of marriage in the Webster Dictionary and Daily Wisdom Words meaning.

Webster Definition of Marriage-The legally or formally recognized union of two people as partners a personal  relationship.  (historically and in some jurisdictions specifically a union between a man and woman.  

Daily Wisdom Words Definition of Marriage-The union of forever between a couple who loves one another and wishes to commit to one another for life with God’s spiritual blessing.

Most people today, including my son who will tie the knot in just a few days feel or at one time felt marriage to be a farce.  Personally, having been divorced twice, I still believe in marriage.  What makes marriage different in my eyes is the union of two people who are part of a triangle which, at its point, is God.  Marriage in my opinion involves the blessing of God.  Ironic I would feel this way after two divorces but I still believe in it.  Before meeting his fiancé, my son felt the same way.  After they had been dating over a year, he would ask me questions like, ” won’t this feeling I have for her fade in time”?  I told him as I will share with you, what makes marriage stop working, I believe is when we start placing our needs over our spouses.  

Remember-we make a commitment to one another when we marry.  a crack in this commitment is when we do place our own needs first.  If we are each giving 100% to one another, I believe any issue can be worked through as long as we truly know and agree “prior to marriage” where each person stands on major issues and there has been honest, open communication prior to the marriage about these differences or similarities, and how issues will be handled.  

For example, one party wants children, and the other doesn’t.  This should be discussed obviously before committing to marriage.  Before writing this, I pulled up an article on the internet published in 2010 about marriage in, “Psychology Today”.  As I suspected, those couples who live together without engagement either tend never to get married, or do and have a higher risk of failure when they finally do tie the knot.  

I think we all have the best intentions of succeeding when we do get married.  Research shows that while, “opposites may attract”,  couples who have similar interests have a higher success rate.  Is marriage simply put, “Just a piece of paper?”  Personally I believe committing under the “eyes of God”, we tend to take marriage more seriously.  One final thing I believe in is this.  Communication and a high level of Commitment to making a marriage work, equals success!  Marriage truly is what you make it. You and your partner can experience, “till death do you part” If there is a high level of commitment, you don’t live together without being engaged prior to moving in as one, and communicate with one another placing your love for them first, before your own needs.  Sound silly?  The other party must be putting your needs before their own as well for marriage to remain symbiotic.  

I do believe what separates marriage from simply living together, is not the piece of paper.  It is about both couples valuing commitment and forever and communication prior to ever committing and HONESTY.  If you already have a great attraction to one another, that tips your scale to success even higher.

DEVOTION

Why is devotion such an important Daily Wisdom Word?  Being devoted to anything also means being committed to it.  I believe being able to be devoted to a cause if that cause is for something positive.  Devotion means caring about something enough to do whatever is required to make it work.  Before going any further, let’s share the definition of devotion is in our Webster Dictionary and the Daily Wisdom Words Definition is for the word, devotion.

Webster Dictionary Meaning for Devotion-1.  love, loyalty, or enthusiasm for a person, activity, or cause.  2.  religious worship or observance   3.  Prayers or religious services.   

Daily Wisdom Word Definition for devotion-1.  Caring about something enough to use your actions and words to support a cause, belief, or person and following through with it until the end. 

Have you ever felt completely devoted to someone or a cause to support the definition of devotion?  I feel this way when I think of my children or my family,  or my belief in God.  I am willing to defend what I believe in and even fight for it, if necessary.  When I feel completely devoted to a cause or a family member or my husband or the Lord, I will defend whichever one of these it is.  

Our devotion takes time to develop.  This is because we need to feel that deep loyalty first, or love, which then develops into devotion.  Devotion should be in our genetic makeup if we feel deep passion about anything.  Many times in life, we go through periods of depression or what I call, feeling emotionally and spiritually dead.  We may notice this feeling if we have ever made a huge mistake in our lives. We may also notice this feeling when we have been deeply hurt emotionally by someone we care very much for or have ever been deeply in love with this person.

Devotion is a strong emotion and very useful to us when we are pursuing a just cause and need our loyalty and empowerment to do so.  Devotion to one’s mate is also one of the most powerful emotions we feel and show.  If you’ve ever felt this feeling, it can be wonderful.  However, should this same relationship we’re ending, the same feeling of devotion can crumble into anger as the deeper the devotion is in a love relationship, the deeper the passion.  My point is, no matter what context we feel devotion, it is associated with a deeper level of emotion.
