“When you say ‘yes’ to others, make sure you’re not saying ‘no’ to yourself.”
-Paulo Cohelo

When is it good to be selfish?

Caring for others and helping them is no doubt, an admirable quality in everyone. Without that aspect of humanity, the world would never move forward.

MENTAL REBOOT – PART 1

“What if we recharged ourselves as often as we did our phone? We take better care of our smartphone than ourselves. We know when the battery is depleted and recharge it.”
-Unknown.

In several posts, I’ve talked about the importance of taking a breather. I’ve always believed that taking a break and recharging your batteries is of the utmost importance to continue being passionate about your endeavors.

GO AHEAD…GIVE UP

“If someone seriously wants to be a part of your life, they will seriously make an effort to be in it.”
-Unknown

If you’re read my previous articles on this site, you’ll notice that one thing I always stress on is never giving up on anything that’s a passion and close to your heart no matter how many obstacles try to stop you. But are there exceptions to that philosophy? Are there instances when giving up will actually be advantageous?

ACCEPTANCE – THE PRELUDE

“Acceptance makes an incredible fertile soil for the seeds of change.”
-Steve Maraboli

There was an article I wrote for this site a few months back on acceptance and the aftermath of going through bad situations in life. I am posting parts of that article again but first, I feel the need to add something crucial to it that has more or less donned on me in the last month or so.

SELF-PITY & THE AFTERMATH (RE-POST)

NOTE: THIS POST WAS ORIGINALLY APPEARED ON THIS SITE THIS WEDNESDAY BUT WAS DELETED DUE TO A TECHNICAL ERROR. HENCE, HERE IS A RE-POST.

“Self-pity is easily the most destructive of non-pharmaceutical narcotics. It is addictive, gives momentary pleasure and separates the victim from reality.”
-John W. Gardner

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

“Mindfulness isn’t difficult. We just need to remember to do it.”
-Sharon Saltzberg

In a recent article, I had discussed how a state of mindfulness is not just a mental or psychological exercise. Done properly, it can also have a number of physical benefits as well. After writing that article, I got a couple of questions asking how exactly one would get started if they’ve never done so before. It’s my hope that this article answers some of those questions and serves as a basic introduction to mindfulness meditation.

MINDFULNESS – THE REAL DEAL

“Wherever you are, be there totally.”
-Eckhart Tolle

In this day and age, there’s a myriad of articles, tips, advice to focus on our mental state of mind in order to have more control, if not completely conquer. I myself have written countless posts on this topic for this site as well.

But why is that? To the best of my knowledge, none of us really possess an ability of telekinesis to where if smiling will magically get rid of a virus or a backache. And yet, there is more emphasis on a mind-body connection today then ever before.

What makes it so? What exactly makes the art of mindfulness so efficacious in practical terms?

ARROGANCE VS CONFIDENCE

“There’s a thin line between confidence and arrogance. It’s called humility. Confidence smiles. Arrogance smirks.”
-Unknown

In all my articles for this site, I have always sited confidence as a key factor to get ahead in any endeavor. If you don’t believe in yourself, than nobody else will either.

But as today’s quote says, there’s a thin line between confidence and arrogance. Once you cross that line, that path that you’re on becomes much more dangerous to tread on with a lot more one-way streets.
